In this research we propose different levels of fertilization and NPK ratios, for Roclas and Christian potato varieties. The experiment was done in Braşov in a non-irrigated crop, studied during 2013-2014. Research methods in laboratory included analysis, qualitative and quantitative determinations designed for tubers using purpose. This permits multicriterial qualitative characterization of production from the studied fertilization variants. We analyzed the culinary quality traits and the correlations with tubers starch content before storage. Also we studied the average suitability for processing into chips and correlations between dry matter, starch, reducing sugar, efficiency to processing into chips and chips color before storage. Comparing variants of fertilization, on Roclas variety, tubers from variant with N100 P100 K100 louder crashed on boiling, pulp consistency is more reduced, are more farinaceous and moisture toward the rest of variants for both years, tubers starch co...

The aim of this study was to highlight yield quantitative and qualitative changes of two mid-early potato varieties Christian and Roclas, as a result of base fertilization with different doses and NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potasium) reports. The experiment was done between 2013-2014, on a cernoziomoid soil, non-irrigated crop. Nitrogen fertilization levels applied, 100 and 200 kg N/ha, lies on the lower and upper boundary OSPA Brasov recommendations for autumn potato crops. The variants were realized with two complex fertilizers administered before planting: C15-1515, for NPK report 1:1:1 and C5:10:22 supplemented with ammonium nitrate through which was achieved the NPK report of 1:0.9: 2. On average, in those two years, NPK report, with higher potassium level did not influenced significantly the total yield of Christian and Roclas varieties. Were found weak growths of tubers yield with diameters bigger than 60 mm on behalf of productions of tuber fraction 35-60 mm. On both varieti...

Soybeans are species of legume that has become one of the most widely consumed food in the world, because they are easy to cultivate and very beneficial for human health. The quality of the cultivated plants, including the content of toxic heavy metals depends to a large extent on the contaminants present in the soils in which they are grown and the method of fertilization. Through this research we aim to highlight the degree of accumulation of cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, nickel, lead and zinc in relation with the cultivated soybean genotype and fertilization. Three soy varieties (Cristina, Felix and Onix) were cultivated in an experimental field located at Cojocna Experimental Didactic Center of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of ClujNapoca. The above-mentioned heavy metals were determined from the harvested mature soybean seeds using inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry, using an Avio 200 instrument. The obtained results d...

Experiments with varieties Christian, Cumidava, Roclas and Rustic took place in Brasov, in 2012 and 2013, years, very distinct from the point of view of climate during potato growing season. Extreme climate conditions during the growing season of potatoes can strongly disrupt the tubers growth processes, this being reflected on the yield structure. Very high temperatures and drought in 2012 have affected potato crops in the most important production phenological phase, the period of budding-flourishing, when susceptibility face to soil humidity is highest. During this period was the largest consumer of water. Because of these unfavorable circumstances, the new tubers suffered quantitative and qualitative depreciations by deformation, dehydration, second growth and sprouting. In the year 2013, characterized by alternate rainy periods with periods without rain and higher temperatures than normal, have determined foliage lush growth that could not self-holds and went into a very early ...

Contamination of crop plants with organic pollutants raises a growing interest in recent years; among the investigated pollutants, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are of special concern because some of them are toxic and carcinogenic. In this context, the main purpose of this research was to establish the degree of contamination of corn grains with the 16 priority PAHs under three experimental cultures’ conditions: one with historical pollution, another located in an urban environment and a third reference one, located in an unpolluted area. Analytical determinations were performed by high performance liquid chromatography, highlighting the higher content of low molecular weight PAHs, mainly naphthalene, fluorene and acenaphthene; the high molecular weight PAH’ contamination is mainly due to indeno[1,2,3-c,d]pyrene and dibenzo[a,h]anthracene.

Viola tricolor L. species, originates from the temperate zones of Europe and Asia. In Romania it grows in the mountainous and subalpine areas, in wet meadows, hayfields, near the edges of forests and stony grounds. The raw material is the entire aerial part of the plant (Violae tricloloris herba or Jaceae herba), rootless and harvested at flowering. The product contains triterpenoid saponins, mucilages, salicylic acid esters, anthocyanin pigments, volatile oil, tannin, mineral salts. The presence of Viola tricolor saponosides and rutoside, acts as diuretic-and depurative and expectorant. It has anti-allergic and laxative actions. In the case of Viola tricolor L. seeds, originating in Germany, both the energy and germinative faculty decline with the age of seeds. Of the three types of substrates studied, the best proved to be variant V1 (peat) that showed the best sprouting of Viola tricolor L plants.

Hop (Humulus lupulus L.) is a clonally propagated, dioecious, perennial, climbing plant used  commercially for their secondary metabolites. The resins containing  α- and  β-acids, and essential oils  produced by the lupulin glands, present on the female flowers are used to add bitterness, aroma and flavour  to beer. Recently, flavonoids, including chalcones and flavanones, of hops have been shown to exert a variety of biological activities, including oestrogenic and anticancerogenic characteristics. In this review, we provide a overview of the techniques and opportunities presented by the integration of plant biotechnology  into hop improvement. The use of tissue culture techniques such as micropropagation, meristem culture, in  vitro storage, adventitious shoot induction, callus culture and cell suspension culture in hops are briefly  reviewed. The usefullness of genetic transformation technology to introduce novel traits into hop is also  discussed

Winter wheat sown in the spring does not manage to produce grains. Vernalization is necessary for wheat to passfrom the vegetative phase to the generative phase. This happens in the same time with wheat “quenching”. Studies showthat vernalization can occur during germination, during plant growth or during seed formation and at the full maturity ofthe grains. Other research emphasizes that vernalization of wheat corresponds to the accumulation of total phytochromein the vegetative apex and to the accumulation of this pigment in the leaves, and the phenomenon of quenching is achievedby a transformation of the total phytochrome in less sensitive forms to dehydration of cells produced by frost.Vernalization of cultivated wheat is mainly controlled by three loci of the VRN1 gene, VRN-A1, VRN-B1 and VRN-D1located in the middle of the long arms of chromosomes 5A, 5B and 5D respectively. Spring wheat has alleles of the VRN1gene that reduce or eliminate the vernalization requirement. As resu...

Sweet lupine species have an important protein intake and have multiple uses on the food market, especially for vegetarian, vegan, non-GMO products, as well as for those without lactose, cholesterol, obtained with an ecological technology. Lupine protein contains all of the essential amino acids necessary for human nutrition, increasing the biological value of this crop. The reduction of the alkaloid content of lupine seeds, especially in white and blue lupine, is studied of approx. 100 years, being obtained their decrease from over 2% to less than 0.02%. The chemical composition of lupine seeds is favorable for functional foods that can replace milk, cheese or meat products. Thus, sweet lupine can be an alternative to soy. The use of sweet lupine has important phytotherapeutic effects in lowering blood cholesterol and uric acid in the body

The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the yield potential of 25 different varieties of oat as a reaction to seeding distance and fertilization for improvement of crop technology and identification of the most adapted varieties. Based ANOVA test, the main influence on yield is due to climate, followed by the amount of fertilizers. The sowing distance reveals its influence when combined with the fertilization, this aspect pointing out the differences between studied varieties. The triple interactions gradually reduce the influence of the factors, their combination being very significant in the case year X sowing distance X variety. The spatial comparative analysis of the three experimental years presents an overlap in the median area of the PCA ordering of the 12.5 cm sowing distance, fertilized with N50P50 with the 25 cm sowing distance fertilized with N100P50. There are differences between the oat varieties regarding the reaction to the nitrogen fertilization, highlighting...
