This study was conducted to determine the students’ active participation and validate the students’ learning domains during group discussion sessions. A survey study questionnaire was deployed, including nine constructs to gauge the students’ active participation. The subjects involved 201 randomly selected engineering education students from several polytechnics in the northern region of Malaysia. The students engaged in arguing and cooperating activities, and appeared very enthusiastic during the sessions, and participation was not confined to a particular gender. The implication of the study is that a good facilitating teacher should take into account the nine constructs of the students’ active participation.

Therefore, an experiment that include pre-test and post-test with control group design has been conducted to determine the effectiveness of the integration of multimedia during teaching and learning in technical subjects. This study was conducted in a Vocational College in Johor, Malaysia which involved 30 students in experimental group and 30 students in control group. Experimental group were taught using multimedia elements while the control group was taught with the ordinary or normal teaching and learning method. The data were analysed using mean score, standard deviation and an independent T-test. Previous studies reported that disciplinary problems that occur amongst school students from teacher perspective; while some studies reported that this problem becomes increasingly serious and widespread, but both retract students from learning. Henceforth, this survey was conducted to investigate how far the problem occurred among vocational college students especially catering students. An interview session was conducted with several catering teachers in two vocational colleges in Southern Region of Malaysia, which focuses on three types of problems namely bullying, truancy and stealing. Data were analysed using thematic analysis using deductive approach. Result indicated that these discipline problems occur among catering students is at alarming level. Peers and students’ background contributed to students’ misdemeanours. Thus, these factors can be a starting point for further mitigating the cases and more focuses should be given on students’ learning.

Although, income inequality and poverty are being subtly addressed; the often-neglected link is that poor labour force participation among women has serious implications on endemic income inequality and poverty. Even though, women are acquiring knowledge, skills, abilities and other labour related characteristics like their men counterparts, they face considerable discriminations in the employment market. The continued labour participation imbalances against women are suggestive that, the current employment landscape is not yet inclusive and robust. In the current employment terrain, women are disproportionately disposed to making a compromise between paid job and home caring responsibilities. Although, the current review is not an exhaustive designed to cover every issue connected with gender labour participation disparity, the study will achieve the following key objectives. First, to bring into perspective the, underlying structural imbalance in female labour force participation. Second, to provide policy intervention which are necessary to improve female labour force participation. The review found that, while significant improvements have been made in terms of educational opportunities and economic liberalization which improved women participation, there are substantial structural, cultural and institutional impediments that are still holding women back. These obstacles require robust public policy advocacy, committed leadership in implementing relevant gender supportive behaviours.

This study aims to examine the potential of MOOC for Welding Technology Course, which has been designed by the researchers, in enhancing students’ literacy on MOOC-based learning, engaging the students in meaningful learning and improving their motivation to learn. The MOOC is designed based on the syllabus of vocational college (VC). The population of the study is 111 students of Welding Technology Course from VC Batu Pahat, Malaysia. A total of 32 respondents were purposively sampled and they were in the first year of their studies. Data collected using questionnaires were analyzed descriptively using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0.
