This study investigates the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on expertise, authority, and authenticity within the realms of Sharia. The paper explores how AI affects the traditional role, authority and status of jurists within the framework of Sharia. By examining the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI), the study seeks to unravel the ways in which information made accessible by artificial intelligence (AI) may alter the societal understanding of authorship and authenticity, authority and expertise, reason, and responsibility in the context of Sharia. The specific focus of this study is on the evaluation of the accuracy and efficiency of online inheritance calculators, which have rendered one of the most complex and crucial areas of Sharia easily accessible to general public. For this purpose, the leading online inheritance calculators are assessed for their accuracy in providing answers to various propositions under different schools within Sunni and Shia Islam. This examination sheds light on the complex dynamics between technology and the traditional roles of jurists in the realm of Sharia. The primary objective of this study is to assess the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the traditional understanding of understanding of authenticity, authority and expertise within the context of Islamic jurisprudence.
Harmonizing Artificial Intelligence with Islamic Values: A Thoughtful Analysis of Religious, Social, and Economic Impacts of Technological Advancements
Harmonizing Artificial Intelligence with Islamic Values: A Thoughtful Analysis of Religious, Social, and Economic Impacts of Technological Advancements2023 •
The research explored the integration of AI technologies with Islamic principles and their implications for religious, social, and economic structures in Muslim-majority countries. It used qualitative design, semi-structured interviews, and case studies to analyze digitization of the Holy Qur'an and Hadith, and AI in banking compliance with Shariah laws, focusing on lexical-semantic, syntactical, grammatical, and pragmatic issues. A few of the such AI-based Qur'an tools include KSU Qur'an عورشم( فحصملا ينورتكلإلا ةعماجب كلملا ,)دوعس Islam web, Qur'anic Arabic Corpus, Almonagib alQur'any بقنملا( ,)ينآرقلا Tanzil (Tanzil Documents), The Qur'an (Al-Qur'an )نآرقلا(-Online Qur'an Project-Translation and Tafsir) and the Noble Qur'an (The Noble Qur'an-نآرقلا .)ميركلا Islamic Fintech, which adheres to Shariah principles, is embracing innovation to streamline transactions and comply with the Holy Qur'an. AI virtual assistants like 'Aisyah' are being adopted by Islamic banks to streamline transactions and eliminate risks like leverage and uneven maturity. The regulatory management of Islamic FinTech includes issues like Islamic cryptocurrency rules, money creation, and eliminating 'riba'. In Malaysia and Indonesia, digital zakat distribution and classification systems are being developed using AI to accurately classify those in need and compute financial percentages for each group. Thematic analysis revealed that human-inspired, analytical, and humanized AI has led to its significant impact on various aspects of life, society, and employment. Nonetheless, AI cannot substitute for the profound comprehension and knowledge of Islamic jurists, alongside human reasoning and intellectual competence. Job displacement and ethical concerns of accuracy, transparency, fairness, and accountability remain significant challenges for society.

Islam in the Midst of AI (Artificial Intelligence) Struggles: Between Opportunities and ThreatsIslam is a religion that accepts all forms of technological progress, including advances in artificial intelligence. However, in the development of technology, Muslims are required to adapt to anticipate the negative or positive impacts that exist. The purpose of this study is to find out the opportunities and threats that accompany the emergence of AI (Artificial Intelligence) so that AI (Artificial Intelligence) can be used in harmony with the Islamic religion. The qualitative method was chosen in this study, by collecting secondary data which was then analyzed to answer all questions. The results of the research show that if Artificial Intelligence is developed and implemented properly, it will be very helpful for the needs of Muslims. But there are also threats including; prone to be misused to instill the values of apostasy, radicalization and terrorism. The use of Artificial Intelligence in harmony with the Islamic religion, must pay attention to ethical and moral principles i...

There should be a great deal of concern over the extensive and still expanding application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Muslim life today. From the use of smartphones, drones, robots, autonomous vehicles and weapons technologies, the transformation caused by AI is significantly positive but much is still up for debate and contemplation. In fact, some Muslims may merely consider this rapid growth of AI as part of science fiction which is being popularised in movies. This incognizant view is dangerous because Muslims may not be alert to unforeseen AI impact especially when it crosses over Islamic ethical or legal limits. These interpretations should provide an appropriate context for Muslim experts today to rethink their views with regards to the transformative impact of AI on Muslim society. This preliminary study therefore, is conducted to gather Muslim experts’ professional views on AI related issues. Using a quantitative methodology approach with a cross-sectional...

A Philosophical Approach to Artificial Intelligence and Islamic ValuesArtificial Intelligence has the potential to empower humans through enhanced learning and performance. But if this potential is to be realized and accepted, the ethical aspects as well as the technical must be addressed. Many engineers claim that AI will be smarter than human brains, including scientific creativity, general wisdom and social skills, so we must consider it an important factor for making decisions in our social life and especially in our Islamic societies. The most important challenges will be the quality of representing the Islamic values like piety, obedience, Halal and Haram, and etc in the form of semantics. In this paper, I want to emphasize on the role of Divine Islamic values in the application of AI and discuss it according to philosophy of AI and Islamic perspective.Keywords- Value, expert, Community Development, Artificial Intelligence, Superintelligence, Friendly Artificial Intelligence
This research seeks to utilise Waqf, which is a famous way of giving alms (Sadaqah) in order to serve Maqasid Shariah (purposes of Shariah). This research aims to explain the method of preserving the overall Maqasid Shariah of Waqf and to guide the founders of Waqf to the best ways to get the best, highest, and most lasting reward as well as to describe new areas of Waqf that should be prioritized over others. The main research problem is on how to employ Waqf to serve Maqasid Shariah in contemporary areas, and this includes Waqf on artificial intelligence. The researchers adopt an analytical and inductive approach to extrapolate the goals and purposes of Waqf and to apply them to the latest contemporary Waqf, which is Waqf on artificial intelligence. Then the researchers searched for a way to employ Waqf on artificial intelligence to serve the overall Maqasid Shariah. The researchers have reached to certain results, and the most important amongst them are: There are priority to the hierarchy of Maqasid Shariah and we can start with the most important ones, and that there are important smart applications which through them we can preserve religion, life, mind, offspring and money that must be taken into account in Waqf, and the return of Waqf on artificial intelligence applications may be much greater than Waqf in some other areas.

Maqasid Al-Shari’ah and the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence: Contemporary Challenges2023 •
Technological advancements in the twenty-first century, invigorated by the exponential growth of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, have ushered in a new era that provides many of us with amenities and comforts that were hitherto unattainable. But behind this progressive rhetoric of neo-liberalism, capitalism, and post modernism, artificial Intelligence development has also sparked an increasingly ambiguous ethical future, especially at the level of privacy, manipulations and others. This article provides a concise analysis of the concept of Maqasid al-Shari’ah and its relevance to AI ethics. This paper attempts to investigate the ethical contemporary challenges posed by the advancement of AI from the perspective of Maqasid-al-Shari’ah and ethic-based approaches. In this study, the qualitative approach was used to clarify the importance of Maqasid Al-Shari’ah and the ethics of artificial intelligence in light of the ongoing contemporary challenges. The article contends that Artificial Intelligence poses weighty ethical challenges related to privacy, manipulation and others which are vital values in Maqasid Al-Shari’ah. The paper concludes that ethical considerations should be incorporated into the development and usage of Artificial Intelligence. The paper paves the way future attempts to analyse alternative ethical paradigms for Artificial intelligence in general, based on a comprehensive Islamic ethic-based approach founded within the context of maqasid which can represent a constructive contribution to the worldwide discourse on the ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
The work under review is designed to serve as standard course modules; hence, the first section begins with objectives and expectations to be used as bench marks for measuring the level of impact on the reader/learner. Just as the subsequent sections are also replete with what the authors term as " discussion questions " , aimed at gauging the overall learning outcome of each of the forty-six lessons contained in the book.

What Makes Work “Good” in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Islamic Perspectives on AI-Mediated Work EthicsArtificial intelligence (AI) technologies are increasingly creeping into the work sphere, thereby gradually questioning and/or disturbing the long-established moral concepts and norms communities have been using to define what makes work good. Each community, and Muslims make no exception in this regard, has to revisit their moral world to provide well-thought frameworks that can engage with the challenging ethical questions raised by the new phenomenon of AI-mediated work. For a systematic analysis of the broad topic of AI-mediated work ethics from an Islamic perspective, this article focuses on presenting an accessible overview of the “moral world” of work in the Islamic tradition. Three main components of this moral world were selected due to their relevance to the AI context, namely (1) Work is inherently good for humans, (2) Practising a religiously permitted profession and (c) Maintaining good relations with involved stakeholders. Each of these three components is addressed in...

Artificial Intelligence as Instrument and Subject Matter of Law, Holder of Rights2023 •
In the pages of LA LEY, on February 27, professors Walter F. Carnota and Lucas de Venezia addressed the topic of the use of generative AI by the Judiciary, in particular at the time of sentencing. This raised, in the reader's mind, the issue of its upstream use, for writs not issued by, but intended for, the Judiciary. Indeed, if the reasoning of a legal opinion must identify the Law (Act or precedent) on which it rests, the same is true of any writ submitting claims or raising defenses. A few days later, the lawyer for the plaintiff in Mata v. Avianca unwillingly provided an answer to this question. He presented, on March 1, a document written by a chatbot , in which he cited jurisprudential precedents that had, among other defects, that of being non-existent. The initiative raised a certain number of condescending smiles, but the Federal Judge for the Southern district of New York did not think it was funny.
