This paper describes a waitress robot which is delivered as a part of smart restaurant. Robotics is the branch of electronics that deals with the design, construction, operation and application of robots and computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing. This robot is designed to take order and to deliver the order from counter to the customer. System works on the concept of line follower. The robot can deliver different messages intelligently and can sense any object within 1metre. The design is integrated with different sensor modules, motors and ICs to achieve the desired goal.

Today, technology is being used to make improvements in every domain. Due to rapid development of technology, in the field of work the robots have replaced human labor and solved many related problems. Young people choose to enjoy a variety of food outside which led to emergence of new ideas in the food service industry. Nowadays the demand for intelligent food delivery systems is increasing at a rapid rate. This idea is leading towards the improvement of the cost and efficiency of the food delivery system. This project aims at designing a low cost, efficient autonomous robot with a smart ordering system.

A typical food ordering system in restaurants is waiter taking the order from customers through pen and paper which may encompass errors. The customer has no idea of when the food would be served at the table and has to wait at the end for manual billing process. The customer has to remember the number of food item ordered and has no clue of the budget of the food item ordered. A new methodology is proposed to overcome such difficulties faced by a customer in the restaurant. The main objective of the proposed work is to deploy a smart ordering system for restaurants providing robotic delivery. It meets the demand for rendering any time 24/7 dining service. An Arduino controller is used at the food ordering as well as at the kitchen module and Zigbee transceiver is used as a communication link between two arduinos. For robotic operation, Nuvoton microcontroller is used and IR sensors are used for detecting the path of the line following robot.
In today’s world the use of robot is going on increasing. Robots are able to carry out every work more effectively and efficiently than a man can do. Hence one of such application of robot could be ROBOTIC WAITER. There are many areas of research that could be done for a robotic waiter. In this project we have try to make a prototype of Autonomous Robotic Waiter which will serve the refreshment to the customer. The implementation is done with available resources to reduce the cost of project. The robot used is FIREBIRD 5 ATMEGA 2560 and robotic arm is made by using 3 servo motors.

In the current scenario, the restaurants from all over the world use manual waiters, i.e., the humans where the customers are being served by them. As communicable diseases are widespread, the need for social distancing and safety are major concerns nowadays. There is a need to ensure the least number of personal contacts. We can resolve the issue by introducing a restaurant waiter robot, where the robot sanitizes the dishes and serves the food to the customer. This will attract more and more customers and also will lead to a healthy lifestyle. The domain of the project is the internet of things (IoT), where we are building a robot using the microcontroller Arduino. We know that this project belongs to IoT. IoT is the system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, and the capability to transfer data over a network without requiring human to human or human to machine interface (HMI). Thus, our robot is an application where the customer is recogniz...

With the rapid development of traditional industries, intelligent robots have been widely used in the hospitality industry. Although the development of intelligent robots faces a positive trend and a good market in the hospitality industry, it also faces the problem that robots cannot effectively collect and use user data in the field of human–computer interaction. It not only affects the interaction experience between users and robots, but also prevents companies from getting valuable feedback in a timely manner. In order for intelligent robots to effectively utilize interactive information, the user experience of robot entertainment is improved. This paper proposes and establishes a basic technical model called iRCXM. Combining the iRCXM model with a decision tree classification algorithm is excepted effectively improve the interaction experience between humans and robots in hospitality. This paper designs a model of intelligent robot based on decision tree algorithm. The model di...

Technology advancement especially in the field of robotics has cut through every facet of human endeavours. For instance, service robots are now employed in human environment to assist in performing tasks and making our daily lives more comfortable. Restaurant service is not exempted from this, as recently robots have been employed to carry out tasks including ordering, fetching, delivering & billing, in the restaurant to make service delivery smarter and more efficient. This study addresses the challenges in a traditional restaurant setting by introducing a delivery robot as a waiter and a wireless system of placing orders. The study presents a line following delivery robot utilizing a programmed Arduino module to deliver an item (cup of drink up to 300gram weight) from Kitchen to the table from which the request was made. The robot is equipped with an RFID reader to detect a tag at table location (target). An android application was also developed for placing orders from customerâ...
A robotic waiter with integrated technology is an ideal solution for restaurants. This paper considers facilitating the services in restaurants. Many problems can be observed in this case such as overcrowding of customers and lacking for waiters. These problems can be addressed by using the robotic techniques. In this study, A waiter robot and a smart restaurant are designed to provide better services for customers. The robot can response to a lighting signal from any table in order to provide the restaurant services for that location. In addition, the customer can use an Electronic-Menu (E-Menu) which is embedded within the robot to select his/her order. The order will be sent to the kitchen and the food will be prepared. Consequently, it can be delivered to the determined table by the waiter robot. A credit card service within the same robot is suggested for paymentpurposes.
