Perfiles generacionales en las preferencias políticas de los uruguayos

Resumen. La evolución de las opiniones y actitudes de los individuos encierra una tensión entre la continuidad y el cambio. Cada persona tiende a modiicar su visión en el correr de la vida, tanto por su envejecimiento como porque el acontecer social experimentado produce cambios en las preferencias de toda la población. Sin embargo, cada generación puede tener rasgos distintivos en esa evolución. Con datos de opinión pública (1995-2008) y mediante el enfoque APC, se analizan los periles por edad, período y cohorte para la autoidentiicación ideológica y la intención de voto de los uruguayos. Se concluye que existen variaciones signiicativas en las preferencias políticas en cada componente y se identiican cuatro generaciones políticas, deinidas por sus preferencias electorales, y marcadas por eventos históricos recientes. In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Western countries decided to freeze Russia’s foreign currency reserves and are now considering whether to use these reserves for supporting Ukraine. Markets and states have reacted to these measures in several ways. Central bank purchases of gold have reached levels not seen in the past 25 years. There has also been an acceleration in the use of the renminbi instead of western currencies as payment medium in trade. In the future Fintech developments could reduce the transparency of the global payment network and development of Central Bank Digital Currencies’ platforms could offer a local currency alternative to a dollar-based payments system. The measures taken today on sovereign immunity of central bank reserves could set an important precedent that will have implications for a future multipolar world.
