E equals mc squared − Even people with no background in physics have at least heard of this equation and are aware of its prodigious influence on the world we live in. This was the equation that gave birth to the atom bomb and heralded a new world of atomic physics. And since the speed of light is constant, this equation tells us that mass and energy are interconvertible and are two different forms of the same thing and are in fact equivalent. As we know, the speed of light squared (speed of light multiplied by itself) is huge: 9 × 10 to the power of 16 meters square per second square. So if we convert a small amount of mass, we will get a tremendous amount of energy. For example, if we convert 1kg of mass, we will get energy of 9 × 10 to the power of 16 Joules. Einstein's equation introduced not only the atomic bomb, but to other ways of harnessing nuclear energy as well.

People are living longer lives with incurable cancer, and the number of people living with incurable/metastatic cancer is growing. Although people are surviving longer, the quality of their life has yet to receive adequate research attention. Psychological vital signs, evidence-based psychological factors that are critical to patient wellbeing, can be applied to the wellbeing of patients living with cancer. This fits with the current shift to integrative cancer treatment that incorporates multiple aspects of the patient and prioritizes patient-centered care. The current paper will provide a clinician-friendly review of the psychological vital signs that relate to patients’ wellbeing when they are living with cancer indefinitely, when they are diagnosed with cancer but are not actively dying. Implications for education, future research, and practical assessment will be addressed.

It is established law that physicians owe a medical duty of care to their patients. This duty is sacrosanct and must be discharged with such degree of skill and competence the average practitioner of the profession under similar circumstances would use. Medical negligence arises where this degree of care is not observed. However it is not easily determinable when negligence is said to have arisen in view of certain extenuating circumstances as instanced in a scenario where a medical personnel decides not to attend to a dying man by the street. It becomes apposite to closely consider certain germane questions: what constitutes negligence? Can negligence be grounded in the case of a patient whose previous health condition predisposes him to certain unforeseen vulnerabilities? By what standard is the medical standard of care observed? This work situates these occasions in a vivid medico-legal analyses, while highlighting the defenses to medical negligence as availed by the law.

The sheer number and scale of the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian military in Ukraine since the beginning of their all-out invasion, has prompted many experts and politicians to define this brutality as a genocide and seek for the prosecution of perpetrators under international law. The lawyers are cautious in this regard, however, maintaining that crucial element of the criminal case-the clear-cut proof of a genocidal intent on the side of the Russian leadership-might be missing or largely unprovable in the court. This article provides an overview of the ongoing debate on the alleged Russian genocide in Ukraine and argues that the Kremlin's genocidal intent can be proved if the anti-Ukrainian rhetoric of Russian officials, pundits, and propagandists is systemically scrutinized, deconstructed, and contextualized.
