DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly specialized form of CBT designed to help people with pervasive difficulties managing their emotions. These difficulties may be apparent in a variety of ways including self-destructive or self-injurious behavior, anger management problems, binge eating, ongoing relationship conflicts, and self-hatred. DBT is a mindfulness-based therapy that balances the use of change strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy along with acceptance strategies.

This paper has two parts. In the first part we analyse the Swedish translation of KIMS and we compare it with the American version that Baer and colleagues developed(Baer et al, 2004). Our focus is the factor structure, internal consistency, scale correlations and validity in relation to the already validated translation of the MAAS. The second part has three issues: Does a group of relatives to persons with borderline personality disorder differ from a group of university employees with respect to different aspects of mindfulness? What are the correlations between KIMS and the symptom measure BSI-GSI for the group of relatives? Has the Family Connections program had any effect on the degree of mindfulness for the group of relatives? 123 university employees answered the KIMS questionnaire. The high prevalence of borderline personality disorder, along with comorbid psychiatric disorders and impulsive reactions (suicide attempts, self-mutilation, substance use, and impulsive behaviors) increase the need for effective psychological interventions. In this study, the effectiveness of dialectical behavior skills training based on the Soler method and family education with individual therapies are compared in this group of patients. Methods: In this single-blind case study, eight cases were selected through a targeted sampling method based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The participants were divided into two groups: Intervention individually and individual intervention with family education. Both group members and the family members of the second group received dialectical behavior skills training based on the Soler model. The participants completed the borderline personality inventory, self-harm inventory, and Barratt impulsivity scale in four stages: At the beginning of the sessions, in the middle of the treatment, at the end of the treatment, and three months after treatment. Results: The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test, Friedman test, and Mann-Whitney U test. The results indicate the effectiveness of the dialectical behavior skills training method based on the Soler model in reducing symptoms of borderline personality disorder and selfmutilation, as well as emotion regulation improvement at the significant level of P=0.05. Discussion: This treatment is recommended as an effective and short-term method for controlling symptoms of borderline personality disorder. Family education, in addition to dialectical behavior therapy, has been shown to have a positive effect on reducing symptoms in patients.

Most present-day research on mindfulness treats mindfulness as a variable that is studied in relation to other variables. Although this research may provide us with important knowledge at the population level and mechanism level, it contributes little to our understanding of the phenomenon of mindfulness as it is experienced and enacted at the person level. The present paper takes a person-oriented phenomenological perspective on mindfulness, comparing this perspective with that of von Fircks' (2023). In a first part of the paper, mindfulness is discussed as a phenomenological practice that can be studied by means of experimental phenomenology. It is argued that there is room for the development of an immense variety of personalized mindfulness practices that may serve people's health and well-being. The second part of the paper contains a brief discussion of the possible role of mindful observation and reflection in psychological research. It is argued that mindfulness skills may be important both for improving the quality of phenomenological observation and to facilitate creative thinking in connection with the development of psychological theory. A main implication is that an integration between mindfulness and phenomenology may serve as an important part of this process.

Philology, understood as the branch of knowledge that deals with the structure, historical development, and relationships of languages, comes with various contradictions and challenges when it comes to justifying the logic of certain ideas. How do we reconcile for Janus words? What do we make of seemingly disparate concepts of identity when so much gray area allows for paradoxes to exist? Through the psychological concepts of the dialectic paired with an examination of Free Will, Identity, and Philosophy of Emotion, we can begin to unpack how to make philosophy more accessible in an age where knowledge is under attack by disingenuous political goals.

Estrategias de comunicación asertiva entre el consejero profesional y los estudiantes en el escenario escolar. Resumen La comunicación asertiva es una habilidad que permite expresar los propios sentimientos, opiniones y necesidades de forma clara, respetuosa y honesta, sin agredir ni someterse a los demás. Esta habilidad es fundamental para el desarrollo personal y social de los estudiantes, así como para la prevención y resolución de conflictos. El objetivo de este artículo es confirmar la existencia de estrategias de comunicación asertiva entre el consejero profesional y los estudiantes en el escenario escolar, a partir del análisis de fuentes bibliográficas y documentos relevantes. Se espera que el análisis realizado en este artículo contribuya al conocimiento teórico y práctico sobre la comunicación asertiva en el ámbito educativo, así como a la mejora de la calidad de la intervención del consejero profesional.

Background Patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) experience significant affect regulation difficulties that cause serious consequences in their work, emotional, and social environments. This dysfunctional pattern also produces great suffering and a heavy burden on their relatives. Fortunately, some studies show that treatment of relatives of people with BPD begins to be important in the patients’ recovery and in improving family dynamics. One of the treatments that has obtained the most empirical support is Family connections (FC). This 12-session program is an adaptation of different Dialectical Behavior Therapy strategies. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) was developed for treatment of borderline personality disorder (BPD), and adapted forms of DBT are currently used to treat bipolar disorder, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. This study was designed to validate the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Ways of Coping Checklist (DBT-WCCL) DBT Skills subscale (DSS) for use in a diagnostically heterogeneous sample. We used naturalistic data from 228 patients receiving treatment at a partial hospital program to assess psychometric properties of the DBT-WCCL DSS. We assessed interitem correlations, internal consistency, factor structure, construct validity and sensitivity to change. This paper presents research of the impact toughness and hardness distribution in specific zones of a ‘single V’butt multiple-pass welded joints of the high-strength low-alloyed steels. Obtained values of the impact toughness are analyzed in correlation with a microstructure in specific zones of the welded joint, together with the micro hardness distribution found in the related zones. Based on the carried out analysis and results obtained in experiments, the applied technology of welding was evaluated. The original conclusions on influence of the selected welding procedure manual metal arc (MMA) for the root passes and metal active gas (MAG) for the filling and covering passes) on impact toughness of the high-strength low-alloyed steels are drawn. The paper also presents discussion on the valid standards and recommendations related to welding of those steels, from the aspect of applications in design of steel welded constructions.

En pacientes con diagnostico establecido de enfermedad articular inflamatoria, se acepta que la monoartritis corresponde a la exacerbacion de la enfermedad de base; sin embargo, ignorar el abordaje sistematizado de las monoartritis puede generar omisiones e implicaciones diagnosticas erroneas. En este reporte se analiza el abordaje de un caso de artritis seudoseptica, simulando un ataque agudo de artritis por urato monosodico recurrente en un paciente con retencion de cuerpo extrano intraarticular.

Mindfulness practices and the vision underlying them can be summarized as a transformation process on one's own mind and body to the purpose of "liberation". Cultivating awareness involves the whole range of human experience, not only aspects related to dys-functional suffering, that is the "clinical" aspects; nevertheless, these practices have a liberating power, that, as such, is also therapeutic, deconditioning. The link between these two aspects, "the liberating, therefore therapeutic, power of awareness" is the core rationale of the clinical application of mindfulness practices. Comprobar que la Orientación Educativa (OE) es una necesidad en las escuelas, fue una de las razones principales que me motivó a llevar a cabo mi servicio social en torno al universo de la OE y sistematizar la experiencia en el documento presente. Por tanto, la información presentada expone al lector el caso de “Las necesidades que presenta la Secundaria Mixta #96 J. Ángel Romero Llamas en materia de Orientación Educativa”.
En el capítulo I se encuentra la descripción del centro de prestación del servicio social. Misma que incluye el contexto de la institución y sus alrededores, las características de la población de adolescentes con la que trabajé, las problemáticas detectadas durante el periodo de observación y la justificación y objetivos de la prestación del servicio social.
El capítulo II expone los antecedentes de la OE y la sitúa en el contexto de la secundaria. En este capítulo podremos conocer más acerca de la historia de la Orientación Educativa, así como los sucesos claves: el surgimiento, su institucionalización y el impacto significativo de su integración al currículum educativo.
En el capítulo III encontraremos el marco teórico que sustenta la línea orientadora principal y la práctica en el servicio social: “Prevención, desarrollo e intervención social”. Autores como Sánchez, Hernández Basulto y Martin Cala fueron de ayuda para situarse en la realidad y los propósitos de la orientación educativa a nivel secundaria y en la institución misma pues se trabajó en lograr establecer el área de OE para brindar atención a los adolescentes que albergaban la institución.
La orientación a nivel secundaria es fundamental para la formación integral de las y los adolescente, esta conlleva distintos factores que deben estar presentes en su educación, por ello se incluye la inteligencia socioemocional desde la perspectiva de Goleman, la Terapia Dialéctica Conductual (TDC) de Marsha Linehan como estrategia de intervención pedagógica, así como la teoría de las inteligencias múltiples de Gardner. También se incluye la metodología utilizada durante las intervenciones pedagógicas.
El capítulo IV presenta un análisis crítico de las intervenciones pedagógicas realizadas con los alumnos y alumnas que asistieron al área de OE durante el periodo de la prestación del servicio social buscando: asesorías y atención individual, tutorías académicas, orientación con perspectiva de género y orientación socioemocional. En este capítulo también encontraremos los distintos materiales y estrategias utilizadas en las intervenciones, tales como el mindfulness, la resolución positiva de conflictos, el ABC del género y más.
El capítulo V contiene el diseño, planeaciones, implementación y sistematización de la experiencia de los talleres impartidos a los alumnos y alumnas de la secundaria durante la prestación del servicio social.
El capítulo VI describe las dinámicas de participación social y las estrategias para la implementación de las mismas que se realizaron con los alumnos y alumnas con el propósito de incentivar a las y los adolescentes a participar en comunidad.
El capítulo VII te pondrá en contexto acerca de la gestión que se llevó a cabo para implementar el área de Orientación Educativa y brindar atención al estudiantado, la comunicación y acuerdos con directivos y maestros, y el cronograma de actividades realizadas durante la prestación del servicio social.
En el capítulo VIII encontrarás las conclusiones finales que exponen desde las necesidades de formación detectadas durante la prestación del servicio social, las sugerencias para la secundaria en que se presté mi servicio social, las reflexiones; finales, personales, profesionales y de impacto social y las líneas de desarrollo profesional de una pedagoga.

BackgroundQualitative research in the area of DBT is limited, particularly at follow-up. The current study explored the follow-up experiences of individuals who previously received a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder and self-report having benefitted from DBT at the time of treatment.MethodsIndividuals who completed 12 months of standard DBT and were a minimum of two years post-completion were recruited. Background Parents are integral in the treatment of pediatric eating disorders. The current study was conducted to further understand the barriers and facilitators that parents experience in accessing specialized, tertiary level eating disorder treatment for children and adolescents. The goals of the study were to understand the processes leading to diagnosis and treatment, perceived barriers and facilitators to accessing care, and parents’ experiences over the course of their child’s eating disorder treatment. Methods Ten parents whose children were admitted to a Canadian tertiary level specialized pediatric eating disorders program took part in an exit interview upon their child’s completion of treatment in the program.
