The optimal power problem seeks to find an optimal profile of active and reactive power generation along with the voltage magnitudes in such a manner as to minimize the total operating cost of electric power system, while satisfying network security constraints .The Simple Genetic Algorithm with fixed penalty and variable penalty advantages finds its own utility in optimal power flow solutions .This paper presents three algorithm with an effect of variable penalty using Fuzzy Logic selection on the convergence of OPF. Fuzzy Logic variable penalty based study is provided to visualize the effect of selection of control variables on OPF convergence with solution time and improved value. Extensive study is provided on IEEE 30 bus system to draw certain important conclusions

Selling the product through Web has become more popular because of online shopping. This enables merchants to sell their products through Web and expects the customer to express their opinion through online about the product which they have purchased. Due to this we find number of customer reviews on a particular product, it varies from hundreds to thousands, for some product it is more than that. In order to help the customer and the manufacture/merchant we propose a semantic based approach to mine different product features and to find the opinion summarization about each of these extracted product features by means of web user opinion expressed through the customer reviews using typed dependency relations.

A user’s behavior on a website is usually based on a sequence of loaded pages and repetition of content and this is a natural part of communication with a website. Changes of persuasion on a user between repetitions can lead to the increased number of interactions expected by a website operator but can affect user experience as well. In this paper we propose the modeling of the parameters of objects used in repetitions based on the fuzzy inference system towards increased conversions with limited negative impact on a user.

Recommending interfaces are usually integrated with marketing processes and are targeted to increasing sales with the use of persuasion and influence methods to motivate users to follow recommendations. In this paper is presented an approach based on decomposition of recommending interface into elements with adjustable influence levels. A fuzzy inference model is proposed to represent the system characteristics with the ability to adjust the parameters of the interface to acquire results and increase customer satisfaction.

With the advent of newly introduced programming models like Feature-Oriented Programming (FOP), we feel that it will be more flexible to include the new service invocation function into the service providing server as a Feature Module for the self-adaptive distributed systems. A composite design patterns shows a synergy that makes the composition more than just the sum of its parts which leads to ready-made software architectures. In this paper we describe the amalgamation of Visitor and Case-Based Reasoning Design Patterns to the development of the Service Invocation and Web Services Composition through SOA with the help of JWS technologies and FOP. As far as we know, there are no studies on composition of design patterns for self adaptive distributed computing domain. We have provided with the sample code developed for the application and simple UML class diagram is used to describe the architecture.

Interfaces are widely used as central design elements of Java applications. Although interfaces are abstract
types similar to abstract classes, the usage of interfaces in Java applications may considerably differ from
the usage of abstract classes. Unlike abstract classes, interfaces are meant to enable multiple inheritance
in Java programs. Hence, interfaces are meant to encode shared similarities between classes belonging to
different class-type hierarchies. Therefore, it is frequent to use interfaces as partial types, where an
interface specifies one specific aspect or usage of its implementing classes. In this paper, we investigate
interfaces' usage in Java applications from two perspectives. First, we investigate the usage of interfaces as
types of classes belonging to different class-type hierarchies (i.e., interface's type variability). Second, we
investigate the usage of interfaces as partial types of implementing classes (i.e., interface's type
completeness).

User interfaces of computer applications encompass a number of objects such as navigation links, buttons, icons, and thumbnails. In this chapter, these are called interface signs. The content and functions of a computer application are generally directed by interface signs to provide the system’s logic to the end users. The interface signs of a usable application need to be intuitive to end users and therefore a necessary part of usability evaluation. Assessing sign intuitiveness can be achieved through a semiotic analysis. This study demonstrates how a semiotic assessment of interface signs’ intuitiveness yielded a number of benefits. For instance, (i) it provides an overall idea of interface signs’ intuitiveness to the end users to interpret the meaning of interface signs, (ii) it assists in finding usability problems and also in (iii) recommending possible solutions, (iv) provides background for introducing guidelines to design user-intuitive interface signs, (v) helps in constructing heuristic checklist from semiotics perspective to evaluate an application, (vi) no additional resource and extra budget are needed. This study also presents a list of methodological guidelines to obtain the perceived benefits of integrating semiotic perception in usability testing for practitioners.

Cognitive radio (CR) is to detect the presence of primary users (PUs) reliably in order to reduce the interference to licensed communications. Genetic algorithms (GAs) are well suited for CR optimization problems to increase efficiency of bandwidth utilization by manipulating its unused portions of the apparent spectrum. In this paper, a binary genetic algorithm (BGA)-based soft fusion (SF) scheme for cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radio network is proposed to improve detection performance and bandwidth utilization. The BGA-based optimization method is implemented at the fusion centre of a linear SF scheme to optimize the weighting coefficients vector to maximize global probability of detection performance. Simulation results and analyses confirm that the proposed scheme meets real time requirements of cognitive radio spectrum sensing and it outperforms conventional natural deflection coefficient-(NDC-), modified deflection coefficient-(MDC-), maximal ratio combining-(MRC-) and equal gain combining-(EGC-) based SDF schemes as well as the OR-rule based hard decision fusion (HDF). The propose BGA scheme also converges fast and achieves the optimum performance, which means that BGA-based method is efficient and quite stable also.

With the growing number of textual resources available, the ability to understand them becomes critical. An essential first step in understanding these sources is the ability to identify the parts-of-speech in each sentence. Arabic is a morphologically rich language, which presents a challenge for part of speech tagging. In this paper, our goal is to propose, improve, and implement a part-of-speech tagger based on a genetic algorithm. The accuracy obtained with this method is comparable to that of other probabilistic approaches.
