This work was made in order to present the Art Department (showing the diference of this department’s organizaton in cinema and television). Explaining the multple functons of the art department and also clarifying the role of all components of the art department crew, this work makes a comparison between the movie “Dona Flor e seus Maridos” (1976), directed by Bruno Barreto and the TV series, with the same name, produced by the Rede Globo in 1998, in order to analyze the PRODUCTION DESIGN of both products, maintaining the focus on the analysis of period tme recreaton. This work will not make an evaluaton about the projects (syaing if they are good or bad), but it will study the chiefs of the department's work, to see if they were capable of re-creatng the tme-period in an efcient way. The methodology used to accomplish this work is based on the interpretaton of the frames of the flm and the frames of the TV show in order to understand the compositon, the art directon, the scenario constructon and the universe the characters are involved in.
