[ES] En este artículo analizamos Le Supplici de Moni Ovadia, una adaptación de Las suplicantes de Esquilo presentada en 2015 en Siracusa. El estudio sitúa esta obra dentro de un contexto literario, sociopolítico y de género. Temas como la migración forzada y los derechos humanos fundamentales conectan la obra con la actualidad de la crisis migratoria y la situación de los refugiados, entendidos como un movimiento social que crea nuevas interpretaciones del espacio nacional europeo.
[ENG] In this article, we analyze Moni Ovadia’s Le Supplici, an adaptation of Aeschylus’s The Suppliants performed in 2015 in Syracuse. It situates this work within its literary, sociopolitical and genre contexts. Themes such as forced migration and fundamental human rights connect the work to the present migratory crisis and to the situation of refugees, understood as a social movement that gives rise to new interpretations of the European national space.
[FR] Dans cet article, nous analysons Le Supplici de Moni Ovadia, une adaptation des Suppliantes d’Eschyle, présentée à Syracuse en 2015. L’étude situe cette oeuvre dans un contexte littéraire, sociopolitique et de genre. Des thèmes tels que la migration forcée et les droits fondamentaux de l’homme lient l’oeuvre à la situation actuelle de la crise migratoire et à la situation des réfugiés, saisies comme un mouvement social qui suscite de nouvelles interprétations de l’espace national européen.

This research seeks to address and examine the significance of spaces of ethnicity in Jhumpa Lahiri’s narratives from a cultural perspective. The objective is to explicate different perceptions and representations from the concept of diaspora in the Indian community in the United States. This has been done by studying the responses of two different generations of the Indian immigrants to the cultural space of the host society. It is shown that the concept of diaspora takes ambivalent dimensions and signifies contradictory meanings within the ethnic Indian community. The researcher indicates that it is firstly the site of absolute differences when it comes to the cultural interactions between earlier generation of immigrants and the mainstream society. Besides, it is the locus of articulation of differences when it requires the responses of younger generation of immigrants to both the heritage and the prevailing culture of New England.

""Purpose – Given the rise in popularity of festivals globally, the purpose of this paper is to examine two case studies to identify whether festival spaces could be identified as third places. This paper argues that third places are not vanishing but that new and emerging third places can be identified through applying the essence of third place theory.
Design/methodology/approach – The primary case study for this paper is The Falls Music and Arts Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania, Australia that was the focus of a two year study into the interrelationships between informal leisure, social capital and place characteristics. 30 semi-structured interviews, participant observation and 937 surveys were conducted. To support this paper, findings from a smaller third place case study of six semi-structured interviews and participant observation at the “Festival of Lights” held in Pukekura Park in the New Plymouth, New Zealand are reflected upon.
Findings – Third place characteristics were elucidated in the Falls study. Essential characteristics of third places such as access to conversation, the evidence of “regulars”, the chance meeting of a “friend of a friend” and a playful mood were identified. The location was an important meeting place for users to create, maintain and strengthen relationships. Repeat visits to this place was found to be integral to social networking and a feeling of “home”. Insights from the Festival of Lights study support these findings.
Research limitations/implications – Identifying festival spaces as third spaces contests traditional third place theory. It offers scope for festival organisers to explore more deeply the intangible aspects of the experiences they afford. More case study research needs to be conducted to explore this potential further as this is only a start at linking festivals to the essence of third place theory.
Originality/value – This paper pushes third place theory forward. It responds to calls for exploration of new and emerging third places in contemporary society. This research adds a new take on this exploration by affording an Australasian perspective.""

This paper explores the motivations and aspirations of African students who choose Hong Kong as their destination for university studies. Based on the findings of in-depth interviews with ten African students in Hong Kong, this research postulates that academic reputation and financial incentives are the two main motivations for attending university in Hong Kong. Other factors such as good teaching, research supervision, and treating Hong Kong as a stepping-stone to China also motivate some students. However, this paper identifies a general pattern that indicates most of the African students do not intend to stay behind in Hong Kong after graduation. While internationalization is a major strategic development of Hong Kong universities, there remain an insignificant number of African students on Hong Kong campuses.
