Outsourcing is hiring an external company to do one or more internal activities because these activities are either difficult to achieve, or costly to do in-house. This external hired company is known as Third Party Logistics (3PL). 3PL selection decision inherently is a multi-criterion problem, sometimes with strategic importance to companies. Management science techniques might be helpful tools for these kinds of decision-making problems. Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques are often used to solve 3PL problems. In this paper, different types of MCDM are overviewed, and then a framework for 3PL selection is proposed by using a hybrid two-phase Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) to select the best 3PL company providing the most satisfaction for the criteria determined, and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to evaluate the performance of 3PLs. This integration provides a good methodology to rank 3PLs.

The aim of this study is to propose a fuzzy multi-criteria decision model to evaluate the performance of banks. Each performance evaluation model is a tool which encloses diverse information for decision makers after being performed. This specific application of these models contributes in responding the questions existing in decision makers’ minds. In this paper, the affecting criteria in two financial and non-financial levels were selected and investigated after library studies and using experts’ viewpoints. Standard questionnaires were designed and distributed among state-owned banks, partially private and private banks’ experts and high rank managers. 10 branches of each above mentioned banks were selected as a case study. The data was extracted from questionnaires and the variables were weighted using fuzzy AHP and ultimately the banks were ranked applying TOPSIS technique. Based on the findings, profitability in financial level and service quality in non-financial level have gained the greatest importance according to experts’ view points. In total ranking of management performance, private banks was placed at the first rank and partially private and private banks were ranked as the second and third, respectively. The results implied that having acceptable financial performance does not lead to having satisfactory non-financial performance spontaneously and in today’s competitive environment, managers need to observe both financial and non-financial performance in order to succeed.

Nowadays, with increasing competition among companies,
producing product or a service that is consistent with customers’
requirements is an important problem. In other words, companies should
identify customers’ requirements in a suitable manner and should
implement them in technical requirements of their products. Also, for
feasibility of technical product requirements, the conflicts between these
requirements must be eliminated in the shortest possible time. This
research introduces a tool for designing transformers on the basis of
customers’ requirements in Iran Transfo Rey Corporation. For this
purpose first the researcher used Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment
(QFD). In the process of House of Quality (HOQ) the Fuzzy Analytical
Hierarchy Process (FAHP) was used for weighting the customers’
requirements and Super Decisions Software was used for calculating the
reliability of the questionnaire. In the HOQ output, the importance of
technical designing was expressed on the basis of customers’
requirements. But there was a conflict between these technical
requirements. Therefore, we used TRIZ tools based on the importance of
these requirements for elimination the conflicts in the shortest possible
time, and this means transferring technology.

In this study, the Analytic Hierarchy Process methodology is implemented to provide decision criteria in the selection, planning, and development of
electric power generation projects from renewable energy sources in the Caribbean region of Colombia. Six sources of renewable energy; biomass
combustion; anaerobic digestion of biomass; biogas landfills; waste incineration; Photovoltaic energy and solar thermal radiation were considered in
this study due to their energy potential in rural areas and areas not interconnected to the national electricity system. To determine the order of priority
in the development of energy conversion technologies, a questionnaire was developed and sent to a group of experts. Given the need to generate
electricity sustainably, the information was analyzed under four main criteria: technical, environmental, social, and economic. Sixteen additional
sub-criteria were selected based on a literature review. In general, the economic criterion is the most relevant in the area due to the high investment
and operating costs of electricity generation. The social criterion highlights the opportunity to create new jobs, while the environmental criterion
highlights the component of substitution of renewable energy, a key aspect in the diversification of the energy matrix, which is part of the country’s
political agenda. Regarding the technological component, photovoltaic energy seems the most favorable due to its low environmental impact and the
considerable reduction in prices experienced by the solar panel market in recent years.

Inventory classification is very important to manage inventory properly. Products need to be classified appropriately for inventory classification, optimization and inventory forecasting. In this paper, the authors propose an integrated FAHP (fuzzy analytic hierarchy process) for multiple criteria ABC inventory classification. The analytical comparison of AHP and FAHP are also discussed. A case study was made in Unilever Brothers Ltd. Khulna, Bangladesh to observe the effects of fuzzy analytical hierarchy process. The proposed FAHP methodology is used to determine the weights of criteria which represents the ratio of how much more important one criterion is than another. The main objective of this paper is to implement the FAHP in the warehouse of Bangladesh.

Supplier selection has long been a strategic cornerstone for the advancement of companies from the mining sector due to its impact on many sectors as inventory management, production planning, maintenance scheduling, financial resources and environment. In this regard, expert decision-makers should deem a number of performance conflicting criteria and supplier alternatives. Moreover, choosing a suitable Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach has become a key strategic consideration for supplier selection. Hence, this paper presents a combination of powerful MCDM methods to select the most suitable supplier of forklift filters. The Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is first used to calculate the initial weights of criteria and sub-criteria under uncertainty, followed by the implementation of Fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (FDEMATEL) to assess the interrelations and feedback between them. The fuzzy theory is used in both AHP and DEMATEL methods to represent the human vagueness when making judgments. Then, FAHP and FDEMATEL are combined to obtain the final contributions of both criteria and sub-criteria on the basis of interrelations and uncertainty. Finally, the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used to rank the supplier alternatives. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, a case study is presented. The results evidence that quality criterion is the most crucial aspect when selecting suppliers of forklift filters.

This paper employs three Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making (FMCDM) methodologies in the evaluation and selection of robots for automated foundry operations. In the methodologies, a Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is integrated individually with a Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (FTOPSIS), a Fuzzy VIsekriterijumska optimizacija i KOmpromisno Resenje (FVIKOR) and a Complex PRoportional ASsessment method with the application of Grey systems theory (COPRAS-G). In each case, a FAHP is used to estimate the fuzzy weights of the selection criteria under consideration. FTOPSIS, FVIKOR and COPRAS-G are applied to evaluate as well as to select the robots. A real life problem of robots selection in foundry operation is cited to demonstrate and validate the applicability and potentiality of the employed methodologies. A comparative analysis of the results obtained by the methodologies is carried out. The study finds that the employed methodologies are useful, effective and sound surrogates for selecting the best robot in an FMCDM environment.

Computerized Tomography Scanners (CT-SCAN) provide detailed cross-sectional images of the human body which are employed for the easier detection and further analysis of abnormalities concerning the functionality and structure of the skeleton, tissues, and organs. However, the appropriate CT-SCAN selection is an arduous task considering the complexity and high cost of these medical devices. This decision is even more sharpener in hospitals from Low-and-Middle-Income-Countries (LMIC) where the available budget is usually restricted and correct resource allocation should be therefore ensured while granting the greatest impact on the timeliness and efficacy of healthcare services. In this framework, multiple criteria from diverse fields need to be taken into account to satisfy the intricate requirements of users. In this regard, it is necessary to fully elicit the expectations of stakeholders as well as identify their importance in an overall decision-making context. To address these gaps, this study proposes a novel integration between the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and VIKOR methods for the CT-SCAN selection problem. Initially, a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) model will be designed for selecting the most suitable CT-SCAN option for a particular LMIC hospital. Then IF-AHP will be applied to calculate the relative priorities of criteria and sub-criteria under uncertainty. Ultimately, VIKOR will be implemented for obtaining an overall decision-making context. To address these gaps, this study proposes a novel integration between the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and VIKOR methods for the CT-SCAN selection problem. Initially, a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) model will be designed for selecting the most suitable CT-SCAN option for a particular LMIC hospital. Then IF-AHP will be applied to calculate the relative priorities of criteria and sub-criteria under uncertainty. Ultimately, VIKOR will be implemented for obtaining an overall appropriateness index per CT-SCAN candidate and thereby identifying the most pertinent one (s) for a specific LMIC medical institution.

Gynecobstetrics departments (GDs) oversee diagnosing, monitoring, and treating female reproductive diseases as well as assisting women during pregnancy. Their importance motivates the creation of suitable performance evaluation approaches for identifying weaknesses and designing focused interventions. Therefore, the aim of this paper is twofold: (a) provide an approach for GD performance evaluation and (b) propose interventions tackling the GDs’ weaknesses. The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) was first applied to calculate the initial criteria and subcriteria weights under vagueness. Then, the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) was implemented to evaluate interrelations. FAHP and DEMATEL were later combined to estimate the final criteria and subcriteria weights under vagueness and interdependency. Finally, the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) was used to rank the GDs and detect improvement opportunities. A case study of a cluster including three GDs is presented to validate the proposed approach. The results evidenced that patient safety and service quality are the most critical aspects in GD performance evaluation. The results from this application can be used by healthcare managers for designing focused interventions targeting improved performance of GDs. This paper fully exploits the advantages of FAHP, DEMATEL, and TOPSIS methods for evaluating performances of GDs. Furthermore, this study presents a novel decision-making model representing the multifactorial context of the GD performance.
