A corpus can mean both a human body and a body of writing, depending on how the reader encounters the word. The act of interpreting both kinds of corpora is, for many ancient and early modern thinkers, an active process that reveals, restricts, and reforms the reading and written self. In response to the question of the self’s legibility, this paper explores the metaphoricity of the self as a text, an idea rooted in the ancient hermeneutics of Augustine of Hippo, and prevalent in the early modern religious poetry of John Donne and John Milton. Surveying the multivalent interpretability of language and bodies throughout Donne’s Holy Sonnets and Milton’s Paradise Lost, juxtaposed with Augustine’s hermeneutics of the Biblical-textual self in the Confessions, this paper seeks to understand the limits of human intelligibility through the concept of the textual self which is both written and reading in relation to the divine. Symbolic and figurative reading practices, in tandem with theologies of original sin and fallenness, cultivate various interpretive models of legibility for these thinkers, figuring corpora as both texts and bodies that must be interpreted in order to access the innate nature of the human condition, circumscribed by unintelligible divinity.

When musical parodies as ‘authentic imitations’ of existing artistic compositions or cultural memes are transmitted through social media, the general public may be provoked and confronted with mixed reactions on decency and other moral issues.  This has the potential conflating to a catastrophic state especially when the audiovisual data have instantly been enabled for public access.

The ‘listen, listen, listen’ phenomenon started when a video, which depicts a moderator named Sharifah Zohra Jabeen dismissing a student from asking questions at a forum held in a local university, went viral on social media on 14 January 2013, while her abusive ‘listen’ catch-line and other humiliating remarks catapulted the public uproar overnight. Immediately following the incident, there came a few parody videos, which appear both satirical and entertaining, to underscore a typical paradox that apparently parallels the many underlying problems of the education and politics in Malaysia, and thus ‘listen, listen, listen’ significantly emerges as a contemporary Internet meme.

This paper deals with a hermeneutic study on the ‘listen, listen, listen’ phenomenon based on online comments YouTube members have posted (3,583 as of 10 October) for a musical parody produced and published by Yuri Wong on 14 January. As commentary from other available Internet platforms is analysed, the use of audiovisual data is also technically observed and interpreted. When net citizens drastically involved themselves through actions of liking, disliking, sharing or commenting on the social media, are they more voluble and honest on the Internet platform? Through this musical parody, what idea did they gather to reflect the reality in Malaysia? Are they ready to appreciate musical parodies?

The discussion continues on possible reactions of the censors in the event when musical parodies allegedly ‘collide’ with the ‘national security concerns’.

Don Ihde and Lambros Malafouris (Philosophy and Technology 32:195–214, 2019) have argued that “we are homo faber not just because we make things but also because we are made by them.” The emphasis falls on the idea that the things that we create, use, rely on—that is, those things with which we engage—have a recursive effect on human existence. Robert Gilmore “R.G.” LeTourneau developed his earthmoving equipment company in Stockton, California in the early 1920s and then followed the Caterpillar Machinery and Equipment Company to Peoria, Illinois in 1935. LeTourneau made the scraper blades for the Caterpillar equipment as the designs of his own earthmoving equipment evolved. While in Peoria, LeTourneau would search for locations to establish new plants and would expand to Toccoa, Georgia; Vicksburg, Mississippi and Longview, Texas. Stockton and Peoria were well established cities upon his arrival. He wished to develop a plant in a new location that would allow for his Four-Point Program which supplied machinery, established a community, provided food and promoted Christianity among the local people. LeTourneau was drawn to Toccoa because of the philosophy of the already established Toccoa Falls
Institute (now Toccoa Falls College) which promoted a Christian foundation in conjunction with technical training. LeTourneau met Dr. Richard A. Forrest and decided that Toccoa, Georgia was an excellent site; LeTourneau’s beliefs were parallel to Forrest’s as they both had strong Christian foundations and a wish for a pragmatic technical education. Another reason for locating the plant in Toccoa was to “provide a source from which to draw intelligent, well-educated young men for employment in (the) plant.”

In 1574 the Ottoman Sultan Murād III invited Taqī al-Dīn Muḥammad Ibn-Maʻārūf to build an observatory in Istanbul. Using his exceptional knowledge in the mechanical arts, Taqī al-Dīn constructed instruments and built mechanical clocks that he used in his observations of the comet of 1577. Such astronomical and mechanical activity was documented, in 1580, by an anonymous painter who illustrated some miniatures in a manuscript titled Shāhinshāhnāma. In the same decade, European astronomers, such as Tycho Brahe, built instruments and promoted a mechanical worldview of the celestial bodies. Although the scientific cultures coexisted for years, current historiography tends to present them as developing along separate linear paths. Yet, if we examine closely the peculiarities in one of the miniatures, we extract clues about a possible connection between Taqī al-Dīn’s and the European mechanical culture.

They include cantillation accents, or the te'amim, which are applied to virtually every word of the text, indicating very precisely each word’s relationship with others in a phrase. There are two types of te'amim accents, disjunctive and conjunctive. Though not punctuation, the role of the stronger disjunctives nicely coordinate with punctuation and prose units to delimit the text into phrases, clauses, cola, and prose lines. The effort in this study is to: A) Provide an English formatted text of Genesis 1:1-2:3 to aid students in seeing the Hebrew prose structures embedded in the Masoretic Text; and B) Do an analysis of how the te'amim disjunctives are used in the Genesis text.

This preliminary Belizean racial project connects how Black identity was used as a political platform through a Pan-African framework to overthrow colonialism and neo-colonial aspects of what developed into a contemporary nationalist outlook. This project utilized a subjective outlook derived from historiographical materials, memoirs, periodicals and journal articles to show how Black collectivity as a tool for liberation (Pan-Africanism) was used as a racial project and later developed into a national project in Belize. According to Michael Omi and Howard Winant, a racial project is "simultaneously an interpretation, representation, or explanation of racial dynamics, and an effort to reorganize and redistribute resources along particular racial lines. Racial projects connect what race means in a particular discursive practice and the ways in which both structures and everyday experiences are racially organized, based upon that meaning." This thesis adapts their notion of a racial project to a Belizean context by substituting Omi and Winant's theoretical limitations that position their understanding of racial dynamics through the lens and activity of intellectuals with a subjective approach that highlights the intersection between grassroots agency and the development of a politicized Black identity. This is done to demonstrate what race is doing given the context of racial dynamics as it relates to the developing Belizean political system. This shows how Pan-Africanism in the historical process of Belizean national development and its application as a contemporary nationalist framework.

The Tournalayer was a remarkable mechanized system for crafting prefabricated housing that established the first Tournalaid communities in the United States during the mid-1940s. These houses and communities are exemplary models that epitomized the entrepreneur Robert Gilmore Letourneau’s experimental energy to apply new technology to create the first Tournalaid communities in Vicksburg, Mississippi and Longview, Texas. 
The revealed history of the Tournalaid communities demonstrates how the building materials, innovative technology and the unique “house in a day” construction system came together to form neighborhoods with lasting cultural bonds and memories. The Vicksburg Tournalaid community lasted for over half a century until the mid 1990s when the community of houses was destroyed; the Longview, Texas community has several houses remaining. In view of the fact that the Vicksburg houses have been removed, the community bonds and memories are still being revealed, though they are gradually becoming lost. 
This research seeks to bring forward the cultural heritage of the first Tournalaid community through the people, the place and the prefabrication technology that made the community culturally and architecturally meaningful. This research highlights how designers had the ability to develop technology to suit their needs.  A simple case study of worker housing in the 1940s will reveal how the larger ideas of modernism influenced the impact of housing on the community and their families. The machine and the craftsman interacted with the technological processes to reveal hope for the future.

Allegory is simply an analogy that is drawn from a text and used to figuratively illustrate a doctrine or practice.
We may conclude; therefore, that allegory is a legitimate method of within hermeneutics and homiletics because it attempts to illustrate a doctrine or practice to the Christian community by the use of analogy.  It draws upon the familiar canonical texts to illustrate various teaching.  Thus, it reinforces the value of the text to the hearers.  It is at its best a well crated literary application of the text.  Yet, it is not a legitimate exegetical approach to any text because by nature it changes the intended and original message.  While allegory may illustrate a deep theological truth, it does not grant Scriptural authority to what it teaches.  Systematic theology grants it that authority.  Allegory is merely a tool by which a preacher may communicate the deep conclusions of systematic theology.

This reflection on Christ's seventh last word focuses on suffering journey described in Luke's Gospel -- a journey that began with Jesus' last journey to Jerusalem.  This journey was an intentional and controlled process of the Son, Jesus, in obedience to the Father.  And it was necessary to demonstrate God's love for humanity and to establish an intimacy with humanity that could only be achieved in this manner.

Writings about technology and technological experience have often used metaphor as a literary device. Explaining one thing in terms of another explores the experience and use. For example, technology is a double-edged sword, a texture, a machine. From the outset, my interest was piqued regarding the use of the term “knowledge machines” in Eric T. Myer and Ralph Schroeder’s 2015 book. The authors explain that knowledge produced through digital online means creates “‘knowledge machines’ that now underpin how research is advancing. In changing the world of knowledge, these knowledge machines are also changing the wider world of how research is accessed and used by a wider public and reshaping the physical and social world we live in”(1). By the end of the text, I agreed with their compelling, well-researched and still very current assessment for a more studied look at the digital world we use for research on a daily basis. Not only does the title harken back to a knowledge bias ala Karl Popper (2002), regarding scientific and pseudoscientific research methodology, but the text is part foreshadowing and part reality of the current trends in the overarching and growing areas of e-research. Does a “true” scientific process need to be quantified, and how can technology use e-research, and still retain the kinds, types, and results that honor many disciplines that use the quantitative and qualitative methodology in the production of knowledge. We all “do” research. It is part of who we are as philosophers and writers and educators of the nature and structure of technology. The foundational structure of the research cocktail is this; search, examine, inquire, investigate, discover, interpret, revise, apply and stir. Research has similar and different elements, mixed together, just like this favorite style of drink. We come from different places, arts, humanities or social sciences perspective perhaps, or possibly a science, engineering perspective, and some parts of each of our disciplinary research remains the same and some parts are different. The idea is to create a final culminating taste, a big aha of sorts, from some key ingredients, crafted in a special way, from a certain perspective. In contemporary research one of the main ingredients of the cocktail is some kind or style of internet research. The transformation of the kind of research and the abilities of the research and the breadth and depth of the data has changed, but the root or “spirits” of research remains the same, an organized way to find facts and solve problems. But perhaps not. When synthesized through a technological frame, the methods, validity and scope of what develops into research, becomes, for lack of a better word, techno-field. In short, life becomes “Being-in-the-world-with-technology” (Irwin 2014: 39). What is altered, changed, remove, and enhanced through this different lens of technology interpreting “interpretation?” Eric T. Meyer and Ralph Schroeder’s book “researches” research. Their meta style works to skillfully and carefully review and illustrate and evaluate the ways technology is intertwined in the creation of knowledge at its root, through research, or e-research, as they call research through digital means. And while the text is copyrighted in 2015, their styles of writing and careful considerations have proved to be very relevant today. The authors provide a new case study in human-technology-world experience. And not to labor the cocktail metaphor too much longer, it is worth considering the metaphor in light of research, because it demonstrates a complex structure of mixing elements for a final taste. People like cocktails. They have remained popular because they require a kind of mixology, or in-depth study of parts culminating in a greater whole. They often celebrate achievement. And this text is an achievement in the studied underpinning of the technological methodology of research. Meyer and Schroeder’s book considers how the internet has transformed knowledge. The elaborate and complete description and narration of the chapter are unique, which fully reflects the deep impression of Confucius' disciples on this "chat".There are different understandings in many parts of this chapter, especially on several key issues, such as "Why Confucius agreed with Zeng Xi".The purpose of this paper is to summarize the existing text analysis, combine with the background of the four by-sitting disciples, try to judge the existing speech, and put forward new deduction, exploring the true meaning of this paper.
