This is a study of a corpus of sermons by fourth-century bishops centred on beggars suffering from leprosy. The period in question was a time when such individuals were not yet institutionalized and as such were highly visible. The article explores the strategies employed by the authors in describing the leper beggars and focusing on their disfigured bodies in an effort to move their congregation to compassion and charity by constructing a fictive kinship between the beggars and their audience as well as by stressing the identification of the beggars with Christ and thus their entitlement within a Christian society. Emotions, especially those expressed by the body, are central in these texts.

En este artículo hemos llevado a cabo un análisis prosopográfico de aquellas personas (47 en total) que, con un cierto grado de certeza, podemos considerar adeptas al priscilianismo. Los resultados indican que, en su mayoría, pertenecían a las clases pudientes de la sociedad tardorromana y estaban asimismo bien relacionadas con personajes influyentes de su entorno.
