Sandy Gall’s biography of Ahmad Shah Massoud arrived in bookshops just as the humiliating events of August 2021 unfolded. It was Massoud’s assassination by Al Qa'ida just two days before 9/11which deprived Afghanistan of its most skilful military commander. What, one wonders, would have happened if NATO had had an Afghan strategist of his calibre to work with during these past 20 years?

The March 2020 massacre of Sikh worshippers at a gurdwara in Kabul, Afghanistan sent shockwaves through the global Sikh community. When the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed credit, they said their motive was revenge for Hindu nationalist actions in the disputed territory of Kashmir.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime swiftly blamed the Kabul massacre on Pakistan. Yet is the official narrative to be trusted?

As Hindu nationalism dominates New Delhi, all of India's minorities - including Sikhs - are caught in the cross-hairs of the violent religious nationalist movement. The movement seeks to swallow up all the nations of South Asia and spit out a Hindu supremacist super-state called "Akhand Bharat" (Undivided India). Guided by this desire, the movement has long viewed Afghanistan as a "second front" for its regional proxy wars.

Powerful nations have often manufactured reasons for wars that lead to catastrophic unintended consequences and decades of destructive blowback. The world is left to deal with mass displacement, flows of refugees, and untold human tragedy. The circumstances behind the Kabul massacre offer the global community a chance to witness the potential launch of a similar script as laboratories of terror are replicated and set loose by rogue actors.

The Afghan Taliban have grown stronger and more deadly over the past 13 years, something Pakistan is often
blamed for by Afghans and some in the international community. Thus, Pakistan is seen as the key player in
bringing the Taliban to the negotiation table. However, the Taliban claims their militancy in Afghanistan is
completely independent of Pakistan. In this context, there are three major concerns associated with materializing
peace talk efforts between Afghanistan and the Taliban. First, it remains unclear whether Pakistan will cooperate in
the Afghan peace process and urge the Taliban to stop fighting. Second, and of most interest, is whether the Taliban
will listen to Pakistan. Third, Afghanistan’s role in a lasting and enforceable settlement has yet to be determined.

Afghanistan is an important state approximately situated in Central Asia. Afghanistan has its borders in the east and south with Pakistan and uses the sea route via Pakistan. Afghanistan has been suffering from war since the 1970s. After the brutalities of the civil war foreign invasion of the Soviet Union in 1979 and America in 2001made destruction everywhere in Afghanistan and killed thousands of innocent Afghans. Great powers came to Afghanistan to crush the roots of religious extremism, drug trafficking, terrorism and smuggling. Pakistan did not enjoy cordial ties with its western neighbor Afghanistan. Pakistan is the biggest beneficiary if peace prevails in Afghanistan. Pakistan has suffered the most due to the wars and instability in Afghanistan. Pakistan has lost billions of dollars and thousands of people in the war of terror started by America. Pakistan is supporting the peace process in Afghanistan and convincing all stakeholders to sit atthe table and try to stabilize the country. The Taliban and America have Role of Pakistan in the Afghan Peace Process PJAEE, 17 (12) (2020) 325 signed a peace deal on 29 February 2020, in Doha to end the longest war in the history of America. Pakistan played a positive and constructive role to bring the Taliban to the negotiation table with America. This paper highlights the role played by Pakistan in the Afghan peace process.

Afghanistan's strategic and economic importance hits the world actors. India's active involvement is quite realistic. India took the better part of the last decade in getting over her strategic timidity to assume a more assertive security role in Afghanistan. India was content to take refuge behind the façade of exercising 'soft power' only, oblivious to the strategic reality that India had legitimate strategic interests in Afghanistan. Pakistan is also founding itself in a new caul-dron in Afghanistan after Indian active involvement in Afghanistan. The present study is an effort to understand the great game in Afghanistan and Indian motives .Indian involvement raises questions like, What is the nature of new great game in Afghanistan, who are main actors, what can be the future map in Afghanistan. The research concludes that the new great game in Afghanistan is constantly disturbing the balance of power in the region which is not in favor of the stability of South Asian region.

Afghanistan in 2019 was characterised by the Presidential elections, held on 28 September, and whose results were announced at the end of December 2019, and by the peace talks between the US and the Taliban. Against such backdrop, the analysis presented in this article traces the evolution of peace talks between the US and the Taliban during the year under examination, and accounts for the developments that characterised the peace process. The latter had also an important intra-Afghan dimension, with the Consultative Loya-Jirga, which was held between 29 April and 3 May 2019. The socio-economic situation of Afghanistan is also analysed, with a specific focus on the role of women in the country’s political and economic life. With regards to Afghanistan’s international relations, this study dissects the geopolitical alignments taking place in 2019, with an assessment of the role that Russia, India, Pakistan and China played in the country during 2019.

Präsident Trump beendete das Pokerspiel um Afghanistan und die wenig fruchtbare Privilegierung Pakistans in der Region: Die AfPak-Strategie landete auf dem Müllhaufen der Geschichte. Im Werden begriffene Indopazifik-Strategien beginnen nun sämtliche zwischenstaatlichen Rationalitäten zu der Region in ihren Schattenbann zu ziehen. Im Zuge der unausweichlichen Scheidung der pakistanisch-amerikanischen Partnerschaft strich die Administration Trumps Milliarden an Militärhilfe für Pakistan. Nur die NATO beendete die Partnerschaft mit Pakistan noch nicht. Die langfristige Aufwertung Indiens wird mit einer Major Defense Partnership massiv ausgebaut. Die FATF übernahm 2018 die Rolle, Pakistans schwache staatliche Institutionen bei den Themen Geldwäsche, Terror- und Proliferationsfinanzierung an die Legalität heranzuführen. Biden kann die Beziehungen zu Pakistan wieder neugestalten. Mit Wirtschaftshilfen können die USA gegen Chinas rasant wachsenden Einfluss in Pakistan nicht mithalten. Pakistan droht ähnlich wie Nordkorea zu einem Testfeld für die amerikanisch-chinesischen Rivalitäten zu werden.

Pakistan after the withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan. Prospects and threats.

The major goal of the article is to present political and economic effects of NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan for neighboring Pakistan. In vital political interest of Islamabad is to have as friendly government in Kabul as it is possible. Present one is not like that. President Ghani and chief executive Abdullah are seen as pro Indian politicians as well as their political supporters form the former N orthern Alliance and their predecessor Hamid Karzai. There are strong evidences for New Dehli's high involvement in Afghanistan (e.g. National Army Training, investment in iron ore mines, and building strategie road to connect Afghanistan with Iranian harbor omitting Pakistan). It makes serious concems among Pakistani politicians and the army high-brass. Islamabad is trying to build friendly relations with Russia for the first time in its history, to counterbalance US-India close-up politics which has been started in 2008 by signing nuclear cooperation accord. Such cooperation will supplement close relations between Pakistan and China called usually as "all-weather friendship". Very important for future Islamabad's economy development are Chinese infrastructural investment, e.g. Gwadar Harbour, and strategie corridor from it to new SEZ in Kashgar.

If Afghanistan were to descend into civil war, President Ghani, of course, will have to share part of the blame, but only for his failure to master politics as the art of the possible despite being dealt a bad hand.

Wraz z powołaniem tymczasowego rządu przez talibów ważne stanowiska zajęli przywódcy bliscy Pakistanowi. Z jego strony nie doszło jednak do najbardziej wyrazistego znaku poparcia – uznania rządu w Kabulu, co najprawdopodobniej spowodowane było obawą o ostracyzm na scenie międzynarodowej. The Islamic State was hoping for a smooth establishment and extraordinary gains in the Khorasan region. The presence of US forces in Afghanistan and Operation Zarb-e-Azb by the strong military of Pakistan did not allow it to happen. The Taliban could be a strong ally of IS in the region but clashes between the two had diminished the chances of its establishment and success in the Khorasan region. Both organizations have declared 'Jihad' against each other to enjoy monopoly status in the region, especially in Afghanistan. Afghan government even supported Taliban to fight against IS. Though IS has claimed many deadly attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan it has not gained the momentum and support it was expecting. The nature of this study is qualitative.

The US Government has again blamed Pakistan for providing safe havens to the Afghan Taliban and Haqqani Network and suspended financial assistance to Pakistan till Pakistan takes what the US considers decisive action against the militant groups. The Afghan authorities also voiced their suspicions that Haqqanis are hiding in Pakistan.

In June 2017, Indian soldiers in Sikkim took Chinese border guards completely by surprise when they crossed into Bhutan and physically blocked the Chinese road construction crew from extending a track into disputed territory. Eventually, hundreds of Indian soldiers stood face-to-face with as many Chinese for over two months, before New Delhi and Beijing negotiated a mutual withdrawal that saved face for the Chinese.  Today, it is the Indians who have been taken by surprise. In the third week of April, Indian border forces in Ladakh observed regular Chinese forces on the Line.
India and China share one of the world's longest land borders. In 1962, the two countries engaged in a bloody Himalayan border war, and tensions have continued to break out there sporadically in the decades since.
Last month, an aggressive cross-border skirmish between Chinese and Indian forces resulted in minor injuries to troops. The incident has been followed in recent weeks by unconfirmed reports of tensions in the mountainous area, though neither side had publicly acknowledged anything out of the ordinary.
