Découvert sans doute dès 1866, puis signalé à différentes reprises, en 1883, 1886 et 1910 (HuRE, 1931, p. 83, 85-86), ce qui subsistait du cimetière protohistorique de Gisy « le Bas des Aouches » n'a été mis au jour qu'en 1978, à l'occasion des fouilles préventives réalisées par J.-Y. Prampart à proximité du tracé de la future ligne TGV (PRAmPART, 1978). Situé à la confluence de l'Yonne et de l'Oreuse, sur la rive droite de l'Yonne, le cimetière protohistorique de Gisy occupait la parcelle 158 de la section X du cadastre de 1957 (coordonnées Lambert : X = 668.32 à 668.45 ; Y = 2366.17 à 2366.3 ; Z = 115 m), à proximité du CR 8 « du Chêne », au nord-nord-est du village (fig. 1, C). Le site occupe le bas de la pente au pied des hauteurs des Bois de Gisy. I.2. cONTExTE ARcHÉOLOgIquE LOcAL ET RÉgIONAL Le contexte archéologique local est riche pour la période proto historique. Plusieurs cimetières des âges du Bronze et/ou du Fer ont été repérés à la suite de prospections aériennes réalisées par A. Heurtaux ou P. Parruzot dans les années 60, 70 et 80, aux lieux-dits « le Bardeau », « les Vignes du Cormier », « le Rucher », « le Pré Tomery », « la Croix Saint-Hubert », « le Ravillon » et « les Terres des Planches » (dELOR, 2002, p. 380-382). Seul un cimetière du Bronze final et différentes structures domestiques du Hallstatt D3 / La Tène A ancienne ont été fouillés en 1990 et 1991 au lieu-dit « le Pré Tomery » (TIkONOff, 1991), à 2,2 km à l'ouest des « Aouches ». Le contexte archéologique régional n'est plus à présenter. Connu dès la première synthèse d'A. Résumé L'étude porte sur le mobilier métallique d'un cimetière découvert fortuitement à la fin du xix e siècle ainsi que sur les restes de sépultures à inhumation fouillées en 1978 au même lieu-dit. Malgré l'indigence des informations subsistantes, le mobilier retrouvé permet de proposer un phasage chronologique qui s'échelonne entre le second quart du v e siècle avant J.-C. et les dernières décennies du iii e siècle avant J.-C., en conformité avec les données funéraires régionales existantes. Abstract The study considers the metal artefacts in a graveyard discovered by chance at the end of the 19th century and the remains of inhumation graves excavated in 1978 in the same location. Despite the lack of surviving information, the artefacts found allow a chronological phasing to be proposed ranging from the second quarter of the 5th century BC and the last decades of the 3rd century BC. This matches existing funerary data in the region. Zusammenfassung Die Untersuchung betrifft die Metallfunde einer zufällig am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts entdeckten Nekropole sowie die Reste von Körpergräbern, die 1978 am gleichen Fundplatz ausgegraben wurden. Trotz der Dürftigkeit der Informationen ermöglichen die Funde eine Unterteilung in chronologische Phasen, die vom zweiten Viertel des 5. Jh. v. Chr. bis zu den letzten Jahrzehnten des 3. Jh. v. Chr. reichen und den bereits bekannten Daten des regionalen Bestattungswesens entsprechen.

This paper presents unique animal hair material preserved in Late Iron Age (AD 800–‒1300) inhumation burials in south-eastern Fennoscandia. The studied 110 graves in 22 cemeteries show that animal skins were commonly used for wrapping, clothing, and as grave goods. Contrary to expectations, the identification of specimens indicates the importance of meat-intensive wild mammals, especially of cervids, over domestic species and fur animals. The results are interpreted with the aid of ethnographic material to indicate the longevity of the hunting mentality in commemoration rituals. The research sheds new light on human-animal relationships at the edge of the cultivation zone in Europe.

Baunegaard - graves from Late Roman and Early Germanic Iron Age

A review of a burial site from c. late 2. Century to 4./5. Century AD on the island of Bornholm. The site was excavated in 1884 somewhat unprofessionally. The 20 graves were clustered in two groups close to an older mound. Of the 20 graves 9 were cremations with a sparse inventory. Of the inhumations especailly one was richly equipped with a leather belt, sword, shield, spear and lance, an awl, a gold finger ring and a ceramic pitcher.

The necropolis of Krungl is situated in the Austrian Alps
(district of Liezen, federal province of Styria). The first
excavations were carried out by Otto Fischbach in 1896.
Today, 279 graves are known, of which 201 have been
documented. Without exception, all the burials are inhumation
graves dating from the 8th to the 10th century. The
article focuses on the economic base of Early Medieval
Carantania with special emphasis on the exploitation of
salt. Salt is regarded as very important and evidence of its
exploitation can be found in archaeological as well as in
written sources. Another focus is the remains of the Roman
roads across the Alps. Taking all these points together, there
may be evidence of a small Slavic territory on the border
with Carantania.

Der vorliegende Artikel schliest die Publikation mitteläneolithischer Funde aus dem Nordteil der Umgehung um Kolín ab, die in den Jahren 2008–2010 erforscht wurde. Behandelt werden hier die Funde der Řivnáč- und Kugelamphoren-Kultur (KAK) aus dem Abschnitt I-7. Im gegebenen Abschnitt registrierte man insgesamt acht Objekte mit Material von deklariertem Alter (Abb. 2). Eine selbständige Position hat ein Krugfragment, das anhand des Kontextes vermutlich die Körperbestattung einer Frau aus dem Sektor A im Obj. 3790 begleitet hat (Řivnáč-Kultur, Abb. 5:13 und Abb. 11–12). Zusammen mit dem Skelett fand man es bei der Oberfläche des obenerwähnten Objektes. Im Umfeld der Řivnáč-Kultur findet die Form keine Analogien. Man kann es also anhand des übrigen Materials aus der Hütte frühestens in die mittlere Stufe der Řivnáč-Kultur, beziehungsweise auch in jüngere Perioden datieren. Die größten Übereinstimmungen kann man mit den Formen der Bošáca-Kultur beobachten, genauer mit deren II. Stufe, die anhand der Funde aus Bánov definiert wurde. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit der obengenannten Parallele wird durch das wiederholte Vorkommen dieser Keramik in weiteren Verbanden der Řivnáč-Kultur aus der Umgehung um Kolin erhöht. Diese Funde verweisen auf rege Kontakte zu der Bošáca-Ökumene in der naheliegenden Region um Hradec Králové.

Depuis une vingtaine d'annees, les fouilles ont permis de cerner l'existence de traitements funeraires specifiques aux petits Gallo-romains. La localisation de leurs sepultures semble temoigner du statut particulier de cette categorie de tres jeunes defunts.
