Background and Objective: Country bean is valued for mature seeds and young twigs as vegetables and other plant parts as organic matter. A study was carried out to determine the stage of physiological maturity (PM) and proper harvest time to obtain mature seeds for consumption and germination. Seed growth of two genotypes (Sikribi Sheem-01 and SB003) of Lablab purpureus L. were investigated to assess the stage of physiological maturity and seed germination at PM. Materials and Methods: The field experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The harvested pods were collected in the laboratory and randomly split into samples (5 pods/sample) of three replications. Seed growth was observed at 33, 40, 47, 54 and 61 days after flowering (DAF). Analysis of variance of different parameters was calculated using R software. Results: The results showed that seed weight increased gradually with increasing ages and reached maximum at PM. Seed dry weight increased with aging reaching maximum at 54 DAF i.e., PM (1.60 and 1.61 g dry wt./pod for Sikribi Sheem-01 and SB003, respectively). Single seed dry weight at PM was 0.37 and 0.36 g for both genotypes. Shell dry weight at PM was 0.25 and 0.26 g for Sikribi Sheem-01 and SB003, respectively. Seeds were not germinated until 47 DAF and attained 90.5% germination at PM. Conclusion: It may be concluded that the PM of seed attained at 54 DAF with standard germination capacity in these genotypes of Country bean.
