The experience of the Golf Practice Class with Lodging and the Change of Life Skills through it

The purpose of this study is to examine the experience of the golf practice class with lodging and the longitudinal change of life skills through it. The subjects of 11 university students (male=9, female=2, mean age = 19.30, SD = 1.17) were asked to answer a questionnaire that was composed of socio-demographic questions, the Experience Scale in University Physical Education Classes (ESUPEC), impressions of golf practice class, and Life Skills Scale for University Students (LSSUS). Descriptive statistics and text mining were conducted to reveal the experience of the golf practice class. Paired t-tests and calculation of Cohen’s d were conducted to examine longitudinal change of life skills. The results of descriptive statistics showed that mean scores of ESUPEC were high compared with a previous research. The results of text mining showed that the words of “enjoy” and “difficult” appeared frequently. In addition, some word networks such as including positive psychological aspects were shown. Paired t-tests revealed that the scores of “Leadership”, “Scheduling” and “Self-Esteem” of LSSUS increased significantly, their Cohen’s d ranged from 0.43 to 0.63. The results above indicate that sports activities with lodging might be more effective to obtain psychosocial skills.

Following Ingold’s dwelling perspective, the world comes into being because an organism/person is continuously interacting with his/her environment through bodily activity. Ingold contrasts dwelling with building; in the latter, people construct the world cognitively before they can live in it. In this paper, we add the concept of ‘lodging’ to refer to a situation in which people live in an environment that contains increasing dominating powers. Under the influence of conservation and the implementation of a Community Based Natural Resource Management
(CBNRM) programme, with a strong focus on tourism, the environment of the Ju/’hoansi Bushmen of the Nyae Nyae Conservancy in Namibia has changed dramatically. In this paper, we use various examples to show how the environment has become more dominant, often in very subtle ways. We argue that the Ju/’hoansi do not dwell as they used to, but lodge instead in an environment that is increasingly influenced by CBNRM and tourism activities. Some of the Ju/’hoansi’s agency has become limited to acquiescing; they passively adapt to and cope with the changes in their environment, while others have shown a more active adaptation strategy.

Yield reduction in paddy crop is quite high due to post heading lodging. Lodging is due to the interaction between susceptibility to the lodging of the plant and external force. Tall phenotypic feature of the plant is one of the major factors for crop lodging. In rice, the application of growth retardant can lessen crop height by reduction of internodes elongation. The present work evaluates the use of two plant growth regulators as mepiquat chloride and paclobutrazol, which are synthetic crop growth regulators that showed reliable stem shortening to combat abiotic stress. Experiment was carried out at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya during Kharif season of 2017 to 2019 in randomized block design with four replications comprised of ten treatments, which include five levels of mepiquat chloride (37.5, 50, 62.5, 75 and 100 g a.i. ha-1), four levels of paclobutrazol (25, 50, 75 and 100 g a.i. ha-1) and untreated control (water only). Application of plant growth retardants reduced internode and culm length and enhance culm diameter. Significantly more grain yield was observed with the mepiquat chloride @ 50 g a.i. ha-1 (47.34 q ha-1) and was at par with the paclobutrazol @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 (44.09 q ha-1) and paclobutrazol @ 50 g a.i. ha-1 (45.94 q ha-1). The result indicated that mepiquat chloride decreases plant height and the occurrence of lodging and likewise enhanced yield more than the control by 27 q ha-1. The highest straw yield was obtained either at paclobutrazol @ 50 g a.i. ha-1 and was at par only with the paclobutrazol @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 and significantly superior to other treatments. More net return [(Rs. 35,421 ha-1 and B:C (1.87)] observed with the mepiquat chloride @ 50 g a.i. ha-1 and was closely followed by paclobutrazol @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 and paclobutrazol @ 50 g a.i. ha-1 .

This study aims to analyze the causal effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) recruitment messages on jobseekers’ pursuit intentions for a hotel position. Specifically, perceived value fit (PVF) and anticipated organizational support (AOS) were tested as sequential mediators between the relationship and personal aspiration values as a moderator between recruiting messages, PVF, and AOS. A between subjects design online experiment was conducted to test the theoretical model. Besides the theoretical contributions of exploring these mechanisms  together in a hospitality context, this research is particularly relevant for hospitality managers and recruiters as they strive to attract applicants that are a better fit for the organization, which in turn might reduce turnover rates and improve performance.

The emerging market of senior tourism in Iran requires fundamental studies in various dimensions, including the behavior of senior tourists. The cognitive system of individuals is an internal factor affecting consumer behavior. The purpose of this study was to extract the cognitive structure of Iranian Senior Tourists (ISTs) towards the accommodation as one of the important elements in the development of Iranian senior tourism. In other words, for the first time, this study presents the cognitive structure toward accommodation at more abstract levels of features, using the means-end chain (MEC) approach. Using Laddering Technique and in-depth interview with 30 senior citizens of Shiraz, the Hierarchical Value Map of ISTs was created, as a result of which six key MECs were identified. Thus, 11 accommodation characteristics, 9 outcomes and 3 dominant values that the ISTs wish to realize were identified. The attributes of cleanliness, location of accommodation, security and price, the consequences of maintaining health, good feeling and peace of mind, and the values of security and positive emotions were most frequently cited by senior tourists. Due to the lack of qualitative studies in the field of the behavior of ISTs, the findings of this study can be used as a key basis for segmenting the senior tourist market and formulating accommodation placement strategies in Iran.

Recent research using coroners' inquests (both the original records and ensuing newspaper reports) has opened the door on the domestic arrangements of the Victorian working classes and the lives of the inhabitants therein, including that of the lodger. It is widely acknowledged that the majority of lodgers in Victorian England's towns and cities resided in private working-class dwellings and, while the census reveals the types of households that took in lodgers, we know little of these lodgers – beyond their age and occupation – or how they were accommodated. This article begins to address this lacuna by bringing the lodger to the forefront of the household. Drawing upon a number of coroners' inquest reports, it explores the lodger and the domestic arrangements of lodgers accommodated in working-class dwellings in the town of Ipswich, asking: (1) What were individuals' reasons for taking up lodgings? (2) What length of time did they spend in lodgings? (3) How and what did they pay for? (4) What was their relationship to those with whom they lodged and what were their daily interactions? and, crucially, (5) How were they accommodated? The findings reveal that the domestic arrangements of lodgers, including where they slept, varied widely. The article demonstrates that we need to reappraise our understanding of the lodger and their place in the home.
