This paper presents a new approach to develop the strategy of Model–View–Controller architecture pattern in Business Intelligence (BI) architecture. The Business Intelligence architecture consists of the ETL tools and processes, the data warehouse, the technical infrastructure, and the user-interface tools. The major issue related to Business Intelligence architecture is to store the data from heterogeneous sources. Se generó una herramienta en el lenguaje java para la automatización de la programación del patrón mvc a partir de esquemas de bases de datos implementados en mysql. Como resultado se obtiene el código en java, lo cual reduce el tiempo de programación y al mismo tiempo se garantiza la consistencia del patrón. Con el uso de esta herramienta podremos agregar nuevas funcionalidades al proyecto sin la necesidad de reescribir este complemento.

The web based learning has become more complex to search required learning resources with continuously growing digital learning contents which are entangled with structural and semantic interrelationship. Meanwhile, the rapid development of communication technology lead to heterogeneity of learning devices than it was in the early stage. The context-aware adaptive learning environment has become a promising solution to these searching and presentation problems in educational domain. To solve this context aware learning content delivery problem, we proposed a novel architectural model based on MVC (Model- View-Controller) design pattern, that is able to perform personalized adaptive delivery of course content according to learner contextual information such as learning style and characteristics of the learning device using an ontological approach. ABSTRACT Every software program that interacts with a user requires a user interface. Model-View-Controller (MVC) is a common design pattern to integrate a user interface with the application domain logic. MVC separates the representation of the application domain (Model) from the display of the application's state (View) and user interaction control (Controller). However, studying the literature reveals that a variety of other related patterns exists, which we denote with Model-View- (MV) design patterns. This paper discusses existing MV patterns classified in three main families: Model-View-Controller (MVC), Model-View-View Model (MVVM), and Model-View-Presenter (MVP). We take a practitioners' point of view and emphasize the essentials of each family as well as the differences. The study shows that the selection of patterns should take into account the use cases and quality requirements at hand, and chosen technology. We illustrate the selection of a pattern with an example of our practice. The study results aim to bring more clarity in the variety of MV design patterns and help practitioners to make better grounded decisions when selecting patterns.

Background Although regulatory compliance in academic research is enforced by law to ensure high quality and safety to participants, its implementation is frequently hindered by cost and logistical barriers. In order to decrease these barriers, we have developed a Web-based application, Duke Surgery Research Central (DSRC), to monitor and streamline the regulatory research process. Results The main objective of DSRC is to streamline regulatory research processes. The application was built using a combination of paper prototyping for system requirements and Java as the primary language for the application, in conjunction with the Model-View-Controller design model. The researcher interface was designed for simplicity so that it could be used by individuals with different computer literacy levels. Analogously, the administrator interface was designed with functionality as its primary goal. DSRC facilitates the exchange of regulatory documents between researchers and research administrators, allowing for tasks to be tracked and documents to be stored in a Web environment accessible from an Intranet. Usability was evaluated using formal usability tests and field observations. Formal usability results demonstrated that DSRC presented good speed, was easy to learn and use, had a functionality that was easily understandable, and a navigation that was intuitive. Additional features implemented upon request by initial users included: extensive variable categorization (in contrast with data capture using free text), searching capabilities to improve how research administrators could search an extensive number of researcher names, warning messages before critical tasks were performed (such as deleting a task), and confirmatory e-mails for critical tasks (such as completing a regulatory task). Conclusion The current version of DSRC was shown to have excellent overall usability properties in handling research regulatory issues. It is hoped that its release as an open-source application will promote improved and streamlined regulatory processes for individual academic centers as well as larger research networks.

Although many general-purpose frameworks have been developed to aid in web application development, they typically tend to be both comprehensive and complex. To address this problem, a specialized server-side Java framework designed specifically for data retrieval and visualization has been developed. The framework's focus is on maintainability and data security. The functionality is rich with features necessary for simplifying data display design, deployment, user management and application debugging, yet the scope is deliberately kept limited to allow for easy comprehension and rapid application development. The system clearly decouples the application processing and visualization, which in turn allows for clean separation of layout and processing development. UNIMARC is a family of bibliographic metadata schemas with formats for descriptive information, classification, authorities and holdings. This paper describes the problem of maintenance and management of these schemas, with their online publishing for human and machine readable. This is accomplished by a Model View Controller (MVC) architecture managing the format schemas and schema descriptions in XML, as model representations, and XSLT transformations for the publishing in HTML, PDF, and other possible option. Customizing Web applications is complex and result in possible complications when upgrading. The Web content management system 'GX WebManager' offers WebManager component bundles (WCBs): a new plug-in system for adding custom functionality runtime to the Web application. WCBs consist of three, open source and open standards based technologies: open services gateway initiative (OSGi), Java content repository (JCR) and spring model view controller (MVC). In this demonstration we will show how to build and deploy a WCB based on an archetype and elaborate on the various forms of applications. The goal is to allow developers to easily create custom Web applications plug-ins and share their application with the community on the one hand, and provide a library of custom functionalities for online business owners.

This paper presents Hi!MVC, a framework for developing high interactive web applications with a MVC Architecture. Nowadays, to manage, extend and correct web applications can be difficult due to the navigational paradigm they are based on. Hi!MVC framework helps to make these tasks easier. This framework allows building a web based interface, generating each page from the objects that represent its state. In this paper we propose a model based on the Model-View-Controller design paradigm and built over the integration of open source frameworks, which are widely supported by the software architect community. The main contribution of this model lies in that it provides a true decoupling of the MVC paradigm's model, view and controller elements. This approach eases the horizontal development and maintenance of large- scale distributed network applications. In order to concretize our model, we have based our prototype application in the following three frameworks. First, the Struts framework in which the controller element resides. Second, the Cocoon framework which serves as the basis for the view. And, finally, the J2EE business components that constitute the model. This paper shows the programming and usage of computer based interfaces to embed models in modern SDSSs. The special focus is on the development and implementation of non-Java based interfaces which couple already existing Microsoft ® (MS) Excel-based models to individual designed SDSSs. To access MS Excel files within these developed systems, Java API POI-HSSF (by Jakarta) is used. HSSF provides a way to create, modify, read and write *.xls-spreadsheets. Besides that, this library supports cell-functions and -formulas.Based on the state-of-the-art software development and design approach MVC (Model-View-Controller), the interfaces are developed as processors. The groundwater level represents a critical factor to evaluate hillside landslides. A monitoring system upon the real-time prediction platform with online analytical functions is important to forecast the groundwater level due to instantaneously monitored data when the heavy precipitation raises the groundwater level under the hillslope and causes instability. This study is to design the backend of an environmental monitoring system with efficient algorithms for machine learning and knowledge bank for the groundwater level fluctuation prediction. A Web-based platform upon the model-view controller-based architecture is established with technology of Web services and engineering data warehouse to support online analytical process and feedback risk assessment parameters for real-time prediction. The proposed system incorporates models of hydrological computation, machine learning, Web services, and online prediction to satisfy varieties of risk assessment requirements and approaches of hazard prevention. The rainfall data monitored from the potential landslide area at Lu-Shan, Nantou and Li-Shan, Taichung, in Taiwan, are applied to examine the system design.
