Survivin is a recently described inhibitor of apoptosis and mitotic regulator which is selectively over-expressed in human tumors. Its expression rate is predictive of disease progression, early recurrences and resistance to therapy. Up-regulation of survivin in oral pre-malignant lesions (OPL) and in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has already been demonstrated in previous studies. A critical step for activation of survivin has been identified in the phosphorylation on Thr34 by the main mitotic kinase p34cdc2-cyclin B1. We show that a splice variant–derived cyclin B is produced in sea urchin oocytes and embryos. This splice variant protein lacks highly conserved sequences in the COOH terminus of the protein. It is found strikingly abundant in growing oocytes and cells committed to differentiation during embryogenesis. Cyclin B splice variant (CBsv) protein associates weakly in the cell with Xenopus cdc2 and with budding yeast CDC28p. In contrast to classical cyclin B, CBsv very poorly complements a triple CLN deletion in budding yeast, and its microinjection prevents an initial step in MPF activation, leading to an important delay in oocyte meiosis reinitiation. CBsv microinjection in fertilized eggs induces cell cycle delay and abnormal development. We assume that CBsv is produced in growing oocytes to keep them in prophase, and during embryogenesis to slow down cell cycle in cells that will be committed to differentiation.

Este trabalho objetiva delinear as principais consideracoes conceituais da Improbidade Administrativa, visando, assim, a descrever um panorama da sua topografia constitucional. Mammalian ovary is metabolically active organ and generates by‐products such as reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) on an extraordinary scale. Both follicular somatic cells as well as oocyte generate ROS and RNS synchronously and their effects are neutralized by intricate array of antioxidants. ROS such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and RNS such as nitric oxide (NO) act as signaling molecules and modulate various aspects of oocyte physiology including meiotic cell cycle arrest and resumption. Generation of intraoocyte H2O2 can induce meiotic resumption from diplotene arrest probably by the activation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP)‐activated protein kinase A (PRKA)—or Ca2+‐mediated pathway. However, reduced intraoocyte NO level may inactivate guanylyl cyclase‐mediated pathway that results in the reduced production of cyclic 3′,5′‐guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This project will focus on analyzing critical planning factors of the different ship classes within the Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) program for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in the Pacific theater. By optimizing how gear is transported, Marines can provide relief in an expedient manner and minimize cost (i.e., loss of life) in a HADR. We develop an initial response model, Joint Transportation Optimization Planner – Sealift (JTOP-S), to optimize the size and number of ships needed to conduct HADR effectively and efficiently based on the equipment utilized. The port functionality, capacity of the ships, and supply and demand requirements are some constraints that hinder the aid given and delay the process. JTOP-S is able to determine an optimal solution, given the different inputs and parameters. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) acts as a signaling molecule and modulates various aspects of cell functions in a wide variety of cells including mammalian germ cells. We examined whether a decreased level of intra-oocyte cyclic 3',5'-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) leads to accumulation of H2O2, and if so, whether a moderate increase of H2O2 inactivates maturation promoting factor (MPF) during spontaneous resumption of meiosis in rat oocytes cultured in vitro. Removal of cumulus cells and culture of denuded oocytes in vitro significantly decreased oocyte cAMP level and led to spontaneous meiotic resumption from diplotene arrest. The reduced oocyte cAMP level was associated with an increased oocyte H2O2 level and reduced catalase activity. : This capstone project supported the mission of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Expeditionary Energy Office (E2O) for development and assessment of solutions that increase the energy efficiency of USMC operations in an antiaccess/area denial (A2/AD) mission. Primarily, this study analyzed energy efficiency during USMC seabase-to-shore operations by developing an operational model to determine the best combination of connectors among all feasible combinations within the selected seabase. This capstone concluded that mission objectives for throughput and fuel consumption during operations could not be met in all scenarios by all connector combinations, and identified why certain combinations of connectors had better broad utility and operational effectiveness. Resumo: Trata o presente artigo de breve análise acerca dos limites da Jurisdição Nacional bem como da denominada Cooperação Jurídica Internacional no plano do novo Código de Processo Civil. Para tanto, se fez importante investigação no que se refere às modificações legislativas que repercutirão nos próprios limites do exercício da jurisdição pátria, demonstrando o alargamento em temas sensíveis aptos ao conhecimento do judiciário brasileiro. Sperm entry in mammalian eggs initiates oscillations in the concentration of free calcium ([Ca2+]i). In mouse eggs, oscillations start at metaphase II (MII) and conclude as the zygotes progress into interphase and commence pronuclear (PN) formation.
