Multi-criteria Decision Making Based on PROMETHEE Method

Appropriate suppliers are essential for optimizing cost in contemporary supply chain decisions. Supplier selection is a challenging issue that requires the evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative criteria based on imprecise and limited information. This study proposes a framework to assess sustainable supplier selection methods using a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) and the preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluation (PROMETHEE). Based on a literature review and expert opinions, 20 sustainable supplier selection criteria were grouped into economic, environmental, social, and transportation dimensions. FAHP was then used to determine the weights of the criteria and PROMETHEE was used to rank the suppliers. The proposed framework was implemented in a ready-made garment company in Bangladesh. The findings showed that 'price of product,' 'profit on product,' 'quality of product,' 'environmental management system,' and 'green packaging and labeling' were the top five sustainable supplier selection criteria. Business professionals and managers will benefit from this study when identifying suppliers to ensure sustainability in the supply chain. ARTICLE HISTORY

In this paper we present the RMCriteria package to support the decision making system in the R software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The RMCriteria is a support decision system that implements all PROMETHEE family methods and also graphical and sensitivity analysis assisting the analysts to make their own decision process and also facilitating the analysis of the decisions.

Marine pollution has many different sources. This study focuses on oil spills that may occur after a ship collision or during oil extraction and other oil tanker activities. The most critical oil spill accidents are presented, followed by the regulatory framework on maritime oil spill management. Among the measures taken towards the protection of the marine and coastal environment from oil pollution are floating booms and barriers, oil collecting materials and vessels, absorbent materials, chemical dispersants, other chemicals, physical degradation, biodegradation, on-site oil burning. These measures may assist coastal facilities and local authorities in their strategic development of oil spill mitigation planning and response towards coastal and marine protection from oil spills. In the present paper, the aim is to rank the approaches of dealing with the oil spill by means of a multicriteria method. The theoretical background of the selected multicriteria method, called PROMETHEE, is briefly presented; necessary to understand the ranking of the treatment approaches as well as the subsequent findings of the possible criteria for the analysis. Almost all of the scenarios evaluated rank floating booms and barriers as the most suitable methods to deal with oil spill containment, followed by oil collecting materials and vessels.

Agrotourism is the practice of attracting travellers or visitors to an area or areas used primarily for agricultural purposes. However, agrotourism can be viewed much like eco-tourism in that it is small-scale, low-impact, and, in most cases, education-focused. Opportunities for uniqueness and customization are limitless within the Greek context. Many agrotourism activities require only a small farm crew in order to be successful. Within the current digital innovations, the Internet has become a viable alternative business channel and many firms have already created their internet presence. The aim of the paper by Zopounidis et al. is to study the use of Internet technologies in agrotourism industry for economic perspectives and rank the websites respectively. The results indicate that the effective internet sites require online communication form, up-to-date information related to products and services provided, information about the area of interest, information on various topics, social share tool, related sources of information, as well as third-person advertisement and personalization of the site.

In this article, we study the possibility of using the PROMETHEE method when choosing multi-junction photovoltaic panels. The study performed proves that the PROMETHEE method may be used for selecting technical solutions in case of multi-junction photovoltaic panels, as well as in case of other types of construction installation works. This article fills a void when it comes to choose the technical solutions for construction installation works.

Öz: Küresel piyasada ürün alternatiflerinin artması tüketicinin bu alternatiflerden birini seçmesi karmaşık ve zor bir hal almıştır. Bu süreçte bilinçlenen tüketici, satın alma kararında daha seçici davranmaya başlamıştır. Öncelikle kullanımı sırasında ve sonrasında kendi sağlığına zarar verecek ürünlerden kaçınan tüketiciler, daha sonra üretimi sırasında çevreye ve diğer canlıların sağlığına zarar veren ürünleri tercih etmemeye başlamıştır. Ekolojik dengeyi bozan, hayvanlara zarar veren, üretimde çalışan işçilerin haklarını hiçe sayan, insan sağlığına zararlı içerik barındıran ürünlerin kullanmayı reddeden sosyal sorumluluk bilinci ile hareket eden tüketiciler literatürde etik tüketici olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada etik tüketimin boyutları ortaya çıkarılmış, etik tüketiciyi ele alan çalışmalara yer verilmiştir. Çok Kriterli Karar Verme Yöntemleri'nden biri olan PROMETHEE Tekniği ile kozmetik sektörünün önde gelen kozmetik markalarının cilt bakım ürünleri, etik tüketicinin önem verdiği kriterler esas alınarak sıralanmıştır. Abstract: As a result of the increase of product alternatives in the global market, it has become complicated and difficult for the consumer to choose one of these alternatives. In this process, the conscious consumer has begun to be more selective in the purchase decision. First, consumers who avoid products that damage their health during and after use; then they began not to favor products that harm the environment and the health of other living beings during production. Consumers who act with social responsibility consciousness that refuse to use products that harm human health and harmful to ecological balance, harm animals, refuse the rights of workers working in production, are defined as ethical consumers in the literature.
