Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is a recent concept that enables good functional outcomes in cases of massive rotator cuff tear and cuff tear arthropathy. Design parameters influence the functional results and complications. The purpose of this study is to present the results of a novel RSA, the Total Evolutive Shoulder System (TESS; Biomet, Warsaw, IN, USA), based on a reverse corolla without a stem. We enrolled 101 patients with 105 RSAs in a prospective study, with a minimum follow-up period of 24 months. The analysis concerned 91 RSAs in 87 patients (61 men and 26 women), with a mean age of 73 years, at a mean follow-up of 41 months (range, 24-69 months). Ninety-six percent of patients rated their satisfaction as good or excellent. Mean flexion was 143° (range, 90°-170°), and mean external rotation was 39° (range, 20°-70°). Many of the Upper Missouri River dikes have been notched to create additional shallow water habitat (SWH, operationally defined as areas in the stream with depth < 1.5 m, and velocity < 0.75 m s−1) for fish populations. The goal of this study was to quantify the additional SWH gained from notching these dikes and to evaluate their performance under different flow conditions. A coupled field and numerical study was performed on a reach of the Missouri River, near Nebraska City, NE, which contains a number of dikes notched in 2004. The numerical simulations showed that the SWH criterion for depth was more difficult to satisfy in the study reach than the SWH criterion for velocity. Notching the dikes resulted in a slight shift of the bankline due to local erosion in the vicinity of the dikes and the formation of scour holes downstream of the notches. The aim of this article is to review the accuracy of tests purported to be predictive of pre‐eclampsia, a major cause of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity worldwide. A review of systematic reviews was done. A total of 219 studies were evaluated for the accuracy of 27 tests for predicting pre‐eclampsia. Study quality assessment and data abstraction were performed using piloted proformas. Bivariate meta‐analyses were used to synthesize data. Levels of sensitivity and specificity were measured. There were deficiencies in many areas of methodology including blinding, test description, and reference standard adequacy. No test had a high level of both sensitivity and specificity of greater than 90%. The aim of this study was to have updated scrutiny of the influence of the humeral neck-shaft angle (HNSA) in patients who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). A PRISMA-guided literature search was conducted from May to September 2021. Clinical outcome scores, functional parameters, and any complications were reviewed. Eleven papers were identified for inclusion in this systematic review. A total of 971 shoulders were evaluated at a minimum-follow up of 12 months, and a maximum of 120 months. The sample size for the “HNSA 155°” group is 449 patients, the “HNSA 145°” group involves 140 patients, and the “HSNA 135°” group comprises 291 patients. A literature search was conducted (1985 to June 2012) using PubMed, CINAHL, EBSCO-SPORTDiscus, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Permanent magnet (PM) synchronous machines having double-stator and equipped with non-overlapping concentrated windings, is analyzed in this paper. Thus, there is reduced copper loss, resulting to improved efficiency. Basically, the analyzed machine is a doubly-salient stator-PM machine, with a rotor made of modulating steel ring. The analysis includes the open circuit and on-load characteristics of the developed machines. Furthermore, a quantitative comparison of the electromagnetic analysis of the machines having different winding topology is also detailed in this study. The investigation shows that the even-rotor pole machines are characterized by higher cogging torque as well larger torque ripple, relative to their odd-rotor pole counterparts, due to their high possession of harmonics.

This study focused to machine novel Nimonic 80A through Electric Discharge Machine process. The process parameters are optimised to achieve high surface integrity along with high material removal rate (MRR) with minimum energy consumption. Central composite design along with analysis of variance technique has been applied to make correlation between the process parameter and responses. The developed model of surface roughness shows that the peak current and pulse-on time have significant effect whereas; a little effect of pulse-off time. The said result may be obtained due to simultaneous action of deposition and notching (removal) of material in order to form crater. The purpose of this cohort study was to compare scapular notching rates, range of motion, and functional outcomes between patients who underwent a standard Grammont-style reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) and patients who underwent bony increased-offset reverse shoulder arthroplasty (BIO-RSA) at a minimum of 2 years' follow-up. We hypothesized that the BIO-RSA cohort would have lower notching rates and improved rotational range of motion; however, validated outcome scores between cohorts would be no different. Large glenoid defects are a difficult reconstructive problem for shoulder surgeons. The purpose of this study was to determine the complications, rate of healing, and functional results of glenoid bone grafting in primary or revision surgery with reverse shoulder arthroplasty. We retrospectively reviewed 23 patients with glenoid bone loss who underwent primary or revision surgery using a glenoid bone graft with a minimum follow-up of 2 years. Background The rate of complications after revision of reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is higher than it is in primary RSA, depending on the type of surgical intervention, the follow-up time, the preoperative condition of the patient, and the experience of the surgeon. Objective The current article represents an evaluation of the authors’ experiences with revisions of RSA and a review of literature, in order to define prognostic parameters and surgical options for the most common modes of failure. The permanent magnet of brushless DC (BLDC) motor is ideally suited for high-speed application due to its superior performance and efficient as compared to other types of electrical motors. However, to operate in highspeed operation, the rotors that hold the magnet must be able to withstand high centrifugal force. Due to that, the main objective of this project is to design and develop the suitable rotor for high-speed BLDC motor through the finite element method (FEM) Ansys Maxwell modeling software. In addition, this project is also carried out to determine the ability of the modeled software to reach the high-speed performances in terms of cogging torque and induce voltage. In this project, the selected BLDC motor was fabricated and measured experimentally. The result showed that the designed rotor can achieve speed of almost 14,500 rpm.

Cutting tool materials often undergo severe mechanical stresses and thermal changes when machining nickel-based superalloys. The stresses and temperatures that arise when machining nickel-based superalloys greatly increase the blunting and wear rate of the cutting tool. As a result, tool life is adversely affected. It is seen from important studies that adhesion and abrasion wear mechanisms are more dominant in the processing of Inconel 718. The work material adheres to the cutting edge, forming a BUE. Depending on the cutting conditions, stable BUE is not always formed and this layer is sometimes repeatedly removed with the chips. Notching in the depth of cut, wear on the tool nose and coating layer is caused by the presence of hard particles in Inconel 718 and causes severe flank wear. Flank wear and notch are the main factors limiting tool life, and oxidation and diffusion occur as a result of high temperatures.

In the study described in this report, the ORITE research team monitored from 2000 to 2005 the field structural performance of the eighteen thermoplastic pipe structures at the deep burial project site located in Albany, Ohio. In the fall of 2004, the team introduced controlled cuts or notches to the select pipe structures and recorded the pipe wall responses to the defects using strain gages. The team also removed small coupon specimens from the end sections of the select 7-year old thermoplastic pipes and examined them by the standard tensile modulus/strength test method in the laboratory. The long-term field data indicated that the pipe deflections had been fairly stable since the first year, while the soil pressures acting around the pipes had been fluctuating seasonally in each year.
