Ofelia

(Capítulo de libro) Mediante la combinación del análisis literario y de la imagen, este artículo abre una perspectiva esencialmente práctica, interdisciplinar y diacrónica sobre la reutilización y resignificación del personaje shakespeariano de Ofelia, de una parte, por el pintor Prerrafaelista John Everett Millais (1852) y, de otra, en montajes fotográficos contemporáneos realizados por Alas & Piggott (2011), McGinley (2012) y Oh Joong Seok (2013) para la revista Vogue. Por motivos obvios de extensión, y para favorecer un análisis más detallado de estas muestras contemporáneas apoyado sobre estos icónicos referentes, no se persigue una revisión exhaustiva de todas las aproximaciones a esta malograda doncella, sino plantear una medida reflexión sobre la durabilidad y mutabilidad del personaje literario y la función de la obra de Millais como mediadora entre el texto teatral y estas reencarnaciones fotográficas. Nuestro análisis explorará la transposición del medio literario al pictórico y de este último al fotográfico, con el fin de precisar si estas recurrentes rutinas de apropiación y proyección de nuevos significados han terminado diluyendo y desvirtuando las características del personaje literario o, por el contrario, contribuyen a reforzar su presencia en la mente de los espectadores actuales y a reafirmar la durabilidad de la obra de Shakespeare.

‘ওফেলিয়া’ বিষ্ণু দে’র দ্বিতীয় কাব্যগ্রন্থ ‘চোরাবালি’ গ্রন্থভুক্ত দ্বিতীয় কবিতা। রচনাকাল ১৯৩৩, দিনতারিখ উল্লেখ করেননি। কাব্যগ্রন্থটির কবিতাগুলোকে বিষয়ানুসারে শ্রেণীবিন্যস্ত করলে, সেগুলো মূলত তিনটি শ্রেণীতে বিন্যস্ত হয়ে পড়ে- প্রেমবিষয়ক, নগর-জীবন-কেন্দ্রীক এবং পৌরাণিক; ওফেলিয়া মূলত প্রেমবিষয়ক, একইসাথে পৌরাণিকও বটে; কবিতাটিতে পৌরাণিক চরিত্র দেবযানী-কচ-প্রসার্পিনা-হেডিস তো এসেছেনই, আরো এসেছে বৈতরণী, অমরাবতী প্রভৃতি পৌরাণিক স্থান তথা অনুষঙ্গও। আর কবিতাটি মূলত প্রেমবিষয়ক; কবিতাটির মূলভাবটি উপস্থাপিত বা আবর্তিত হয়েছে মূলত শেক্সপিয়রের ‘হ্যামলেট’-এর হ্যামলেট-ওফেলিয়া প্রেমকাহিনির সাব-প্লটকে কেন্দ্র করে। কবিতাটির বর্ণনায় তারা যথাক্রমে 'আমি' ও 'তুমি'। এই নিবন্ধে হ্যামলেট ও ওফেলিয়ার স্বরূপ নির্ণয় এবং কবিতাটির শিল্পসৌন্দর্য উদ্ঘাটনের প্রয়াস পাওয়া গেছে।

The article describes examples of inphrases whose purpose is to arouse emotions evoked through the reading of a literary text and to recreate those emotions in an artwork, in this case, in the works of three Czech photographers. The starting point for the analysis of the three selected photographs is, first and foremost, the character of Ophelia from William Shakespeare's Hamlet, and the description of her tragic death. This description is subsequently set against a painting titled Ophelia, created by a Pre-Raphaelite artist, John Everett Millais. Further analysis focuses on the photographs by Martin Faltejsek (the Weightless series), Jan Faukner (the Nemesis series), and Barbora Bálková (the Literary suicides series). The analysis of the photographs which represent Ophelia concerns, among others, their symbolism (femininity, water, nature archetypes), and highlights the similarities and differences between the three media, i.e. literature, painting, and photography. Apart from covering the issues of visual experience, the article addresses the question of whether the particular photographs escape the Shakespearian context and fit within the fine-art context, as well as whether the artists propose their own, new reading of the myth of Ophelia. Spotkanie słowa i obrazu wielokrotnie opisywane było z punktu widzenia ekfraz artystycznych, których celem stało się przede wszystkim wywołanie uni-wersalnej emocji wynikającej z kontemplacji dzieła sztuki. Takie interferencje często związane są z ekfrazą literacką, co oznacza, że w warstwie narracyjnej odnaleźć można na przykład opis dzieła sztuki lub innego rodzaju odniesienie do konkretnego obiektu twórczości artystycznej. Inaczej jest w przypadku infra-zy, której zadanie to zobrazowanie emocji wzbudzonych przez dzieło literackie. Teresa Radziewicz pisze o rozwoju tych dwóch pojęć następująco: "[…] o ile […] od czasu powstania ekfraz do momentu ich wyodrębnienia i nazwania upłynęło w przybliżeniu tysiąc lat, o tyle pojęcie infrazy kształtuje się niejako hic et nunc, na naszych oczach. During the second half of the nineteenth century, Ophelia became a
supranational art icon being dealt with by many European artists. From among
the various visual renderings of Shakespeare’s madwoman, Millais’
has been
critically acclaimed as the most accomplished one. But to which
extent is it
close to the textual Ophelia?: There is a time gap in between both
representations and they also bear a different nature. Besides,
the Pre-Raphaelite canvas also shows the influence of some particular Victorian
discourses and views on female nature transforming the lady’s portrait.

Desde un marco de estudios literarios feministas, este  trabajo  analiza  tres  textos  de  distintos  momentos  del  entre  siglos  latinoamericano:  El Conspirador(Autobiografía de un hombre público) (1892),  de  la  escritora  peruana  Mercedes  Cabello  de Carbonera; Incurables, de la venezolana Virginia Gil  de  Hermoso  (1905)  y  La  rosa  muerta  (1914),  de  la  peruana  Aurora  Cáceres.  El  objetivo  es  ahondar  en  las  maneras  en  que  las  mujeres  de  letras  del  periodo,  en  medio  de  sus  distancias  éticas,  estéticas  e  ideológicas,  confrontaron  las  construcciones hegemónicas de lo femenino, tanto desde  el  ideario  burgués-liberal  que  privilegió  el  modelo de la madre republicana y el ángel del hogar paradigmático de la virtud doméstica; como desde el ideario modernista-decadentista masculino, con la idealización del arquetipo de la bella enferma, la bella muerta o la femme fatale. Las protagonistas de  estas  novelas  emprenden  proyectos  de  subjetivación  que  las  desmarcan  de  la  condición  genérica  impuesta  al  sujeto/objeto  femenino  con  el  descarte  de  la  maternidad  y  el  extrañamiento  de  la  domesticidad;  al  tiempo  que  convergen  en  devenir,  en  su  lecho  de  muerte,  variantes  de  moribundas habladoras cuya elocuencia y agencia las torna en arquetipos contradiscursivos respecto a la silente, inmóvil, pasiva bella enferma celebrada desde el modernismo decadentista.
