Determining requirements process efficiency, and measuring the corresponding monetary impacts, is a challenging but necessary aspect of project management. In this paper, we perform an independent analysis of scoping decisions from a large industrial project with the goal of providing visualizations that facilitate investigations of process efficiency , agility, and the effects of scoping decisions. The visualizations proposed in this paper can be used to analyze scoping dynamics and support process management decisions on a quantitative rather than a qualitative basis.

The main endeavor of this study was to explore and uncover the correlations between Leadership competencies and productive performance in project management. The aspiration was to shed light on key leadership attributes critical for project success and to underline the significance of implementing these competencies in a project environment. This research study begins with a focus on the value of general Project leadership and elaborates on the effectives of leadership skills of a Project manager. In today’s world of multitasking and constant development, leaders are a fundamental component for any organization to succeed. Leaders take on large responsibilities and move organizations forward.
This research underlines that, in the field of project management, leadership is typically more crucial, due to the involvement and constant integration of multiple projects in organizations. The unique demand and integration of projects creates a need of having qualified project managers, in particular leaders that bring a set of positive attributes to the project and the organization. In principle, the research model along with an insightful survey has been developed applying relevant qualitative and quantitative technicalities to further support and validate the data that was explored and evaluated in this research thesis. Within the confinements of these studies, the objective was to uncover the key constructive factors that project managers ought to exercise to achieve effectiveness in project milestones. It was found that the dimensions of Leadership have different effects on the Project constraints. Each dimension has its positive and negative effects and should be carefully monitored for ensuring success of the Project.

Communication is essential for software development as its efficiency throughout the entire project life-cycle is a key factor in developing and releasing successful software products to the market. This paper reports on findings from an explanatory case study aiming at a deeper understanding of the causes and effects of communication gaps in a large-scale industrial set up. Based on an assumption of what causes gaps in communication of requirements and what effects such gaps have, a semi-structured interview study was performed with nine practitioners at a large market-driven software company. We found four main factors that affect the requirements communication, namely scale, temporal aspects, common views and decision structures. The results also show that communication gaps lead to failure to meet the customers' expectations, quality issues and wasted effort. An increased awareness of these factors is a help in identifying what to address to achieve a more efficient requirements management, and ultimately more efficient and successful software development. By closing the communication gaps the requirements may continue all the way through the project life-cycle and be more likely to result in software that meets the customers' expectations.

A complete definition of the scope of a project upfront during early stages ensures smooth and successful implementation during the project execution. This research identifies and prioritises project scope definition elements for public buildings in Saudi Arabia. Elements that could significantly contribute to complete project scope definition package at pre-project planning stage are identified and their interrelationship determined and prioritised. Using the Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) as a basis, the study uses analytical network process (ANP) technique based on data obtained from project managers who have been involved in public sector projects in Saudi Arabia. Data collection and analysis was conducted in three steps. The first step involved identification of scope definition elements while the second involved an investigation into interrelationships among the elements. In the third step, ANP was used to determine the weight of the elements’ importance in terms of contribution to project scope definition completeness. Finally, Pareto analysis was used to prioritise and assess the distribution pattern of the elements. The outcome from this research is the prioritisation of project scope definition elements for public building projects in Saudi Arabia. The prioritised list developed indicates the importance of project scope definition elements. It should help project management teams identify elements to consider when evaluating project scope definition for completeness at the pre-project planning stage.

Decision making and requirements scoping occupy central roles in helping to develop products that are demanded by the customers and ensuring company strategies are accurately realized in product scope. Many companies experience continuous and frequent scope changes and fluctuations but struggle to measure the phenomena and correlate the measurement to the quality of the requirements process. We present the results from an exploratory interview study among 22 participants working with requirements management processes at a large company that develops embedded systems for a global market. Our respondents shared their opinions about the current set of requirements management process metrics as well as what additional metrics they envisioned as useful. We present a set of metrics that describe the quality of the requirements scoping process. The findings provide practical insights that can be used as input when introducing new measurement programs for requirements management and decision making.

Increase in the number of failures of the project due to negligence of specified triple constraint, therefore there is lack of development in skills and infrastructure. The objective of the research is to assess the triple constraint and determine sources of failures in order to increase the success rate of construction projects and to give priority on the triple constraint. Both the contextual and research process attribute failure of construction projects to lack of understanding and poor management of the triple constraint elements.
