According to the common tradition, the registrar was, or evolved from, the office of the beadle in the medieval university. This tradition is incorrect; the story is more complex. Even so, the tasks of registration and recordkeeping still connect modern-day registrars to the past and the individuals that performed these duties in the medieval university.

This paper seeks to outline the role of the registrar concerning the Portuguese law on contractual standard terms, in the context of a mortgage registration. The Authors point out cases where the creation of a mortgage is sustained in a pre-formulated standard contract and they discuss to what extent the legal framework of general contractual clauses shall prevent the acceptance of the mortgage by the Land Registry official.

There is paucity of research on the possibility of the appointment of Muslim women to the office of Muslim Marriage Registrar (MMR) and Qazi. Generally in India and particularly in West Bengal the word 'Qazi' has become a misnomer. During my course of research whenever I asked people as to what did they understand by 'Qazi', they answered that 'Qazi' means Judge. The office of the MMR & Qazi is not the office of the 'Qazi – the judge' in the strict sense of the term because in India there is no idea of parallel judiciary. The ignorance of this fact that MMR & Qazi and the Judge are not the one and the same, has led to declaration and issuance of various fatwas that Muslim women cannot be a Qazi. I believe that when such fatwas are issued then the issuer had the same idea of the word Qazi as the masses have. It took India almost five decades, since its independence from the British to have Shabnam Ara Begum of East Midnapore in the State of West Bengal as the first women Qazi in the year 2004. The present article is an attempt to look into the issue of gender bias in the matter of appointment of Muslim women as MMR & Qazi.

Background: In Australia registrar training to become a general practitioner (GP) involves three to four years of supervised learning with at least 50% of GP registrars training wholly in rural areas. These rural placements are important for developing the broad skills needed for effective rural practice. Having enough rural GP supervisors is essential to enable rural GP training to occur. We aimed to explore what makes GPs’ participate in supervising or not, their experiences of supervising, and the impact of their practice context. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with 25 GPs based in rural Tasmania, all in towns of <25,000 population, to explore the GPs’ professional backgrounds, their experiences of supervising GP registrars, their practice context and their decisions about supervising GP registrars or not. Contemporary organizations are confronted with the necessity to define internal regulations (Jackson & Adams, 1979) and, at the same time, they result immersed in environments where rules are set by external institutional actors to address actions, procedures, routines and relationships. The ability to manage and act upon these controlling and limiting features has become a fundamental skill for many organizations (Sullivan, 2010). At the same time, organizations are demanded to relate with their material components, constantly interacting with each other and with all other aspects of the firm (structure, culture, resources): in this sense, organizations' scholars as well as practitioners are asked to consider that " the social and the material are constitutively entangled in everyday life " (Orlikowski, 2007: 1437) and that the material aspects of an organizations are to be regarded with the same accuracy and attention that is reserved to other characteristics of a firm. A managerial and organizational evidence corroborating the advocation for a more integrated analysis of organizations as both social and physical, that is of the fundamental relevance of materiality is, in fact, constituted by the recurring presence, in firms, of regulations and rules particularly addressed to ease and control the interaction occurring between immaterial and material aspects of the organization. If it is important to note that the extent to which the material component can condition a firm and the nature and diffusion of correlated practices of rules definition vary in respect to the characteristics of the organization's industry, field, structure, inter-organizational and institutional network, then, at the same time, it is important to stress the pervasiveness, across organizational fields and forms, of the crucial interconnection between social and material features.In this paper, I will present the case of an organization whose material component constitutes the very reason of its existence and where regulations (often issued by external actors) are mainly defined to control and preserve the very materiality of the organization.
By proposing a case study of an italian public museum, I will engage with the analysis of the relationship between material artifacts and uniqueness (in that the museum's collection is constituted by works of art or other kind of heritage objects that are irreplaceable and that feature immaterial, cultural, social, sense-making qualities, see also (Pels, Hetherington, & Vandenberghe, 2002)) and with the consequences, in terms of regulations, that this relation can have on the organizations interacting with them.

RECENT LEGAL DEVELOPMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS ON THE PARTICIPATION OF MUFTIS AMONG THE REGISTRARS

Abstract
Women can obtain legal rights based on marriage law only through official engagement or marriage contract. Extramarital union, only by having religious ceremony of marriage, causes the deprivation of family law rights. Including muftis among the registrars may reduce this deprivation. For the participation of muftis among the registrars, amendments were made in the Law on Civil Registration Services and the Marriage Regulation. The Presidency of Religious Affairs published the Circular on the Official Marriage Authority. The marriage carried out by the Mufti according to the mentioned circular refers to the simultaneous unification of the religious and official ceremonies. The mentioned simultaneous unification violates the hierarchy of norms, especially the fourth paragraph of article 174 of the Constitution and the second paragraph of article 143 of the Turkish Civil Code. According to the relevant circular, marriage ceremony begins and ends with the hadith and prayers required by Islam. The annexes of the Circular are written first in Arabic and then in Turkish. The Constitutional Court, unanimously, rejected the annulment request for the participation of muftis among the registrars. However, in the relevant circular, attention could be paid to the priority sequencing and chronological divergence of the religious and official ceremonies of marriage. In the United Kingdom, in the formalization of religious marriage, the terms of registered marriage, registered building and the authorized person are in the foreground, regardless of Christianity, Judaism or Islam distinction. In Republic of Turkey, The Sunni dimension of Islam has been deservedly satisfied with the participation of muftis among the registrars. In the project of the secularism and the freedom of belief, as Turkish family law expands the circle of officially recognized marriage ceremonies, when the appropriate conditions arise, not only other religions, but also the Alevi and Shia dimension of Islam can be taken into account.
