Książka Ricardo Duchesne “The Uniqueness of Western Civilization” (wyd. 2011) jest obszernym omówieniem debat ostatnich dziesięcioleci na temat historycznych relacji między cywilizacją zachodnią i innymi kręgami kulturowymi. Lata osiemdziesiąte i dziewięćdziesiąte XX wieku to okres przewartościowywania i zmiany podejścia do tej problematyki. Zaczęło dochodzić do głosu podejście multikulturowe i rewizjonistyczne, kwestionujące znaczenie i dorobek Zachodu. Duchesne szeroko omawia ten nurt myślenia, ostro z nim polemizuje. Mój esej jest omówieniem książki i zbiorem komentarzy uzupełniających.

HISTORICAL SURVEY OF CHRIST'S SCHOOL HISTORY AND TRADITION IN PERSPECTIVES

Reading through another piece contributed by our father figure and former Principal-Hon. Kehinde Ojo PCS on the school traditions and use of facilities up to the 70s behooves on me that we have an enriching tradition and very long history as a school. (Though I know this fact before now but it came again to me in a new way and different dimension when going through details supplied on students' activities over a generation of the 30s through the 70s). I wish to observe however that a concentration of assessment of the content of character and values examined in the activities of the school and its students revolved around major events recorded in the 40s, 50s and 60s. No doubt, school traditions are to enrich scholarship and the culture of a community and I really commend the writer who is our father for the great compilation. In view of the above, my contribution by way of critique is to ensure that any historical material about the school like any other that attract my attention or interest is compiled, developed and examined within a robust environment that gives room for a more concise information and acceptable rendition in the context of facts and figures unless they are taken as junk mails or written personal accounts of a different perspective that is often subjective in natures. The writer of the piece is definitely a father, an authority figure in academia and policy environment, the community and larger society and indeed a reference point in historical tradition and appraisal that his writings cannot be overlooked without an appraisal. His writings connote an EPISTLE OF PAUL to the People of CORINTH. It is Canonical and we can only help to improve it by citing issues that need to be addressed when they are absent from such great writings that can outlive us. Reading through other existing papers, many of our school history have been linked to and ended with the great Dallimore-the founder (even from my father's 398-page biography written by me and published in 2008) and by extension many more surrounded the indomitable Mason-the Builder. I noted further that many of the accounts and their mentions focused on the older generation, particularly experiences of the 40s to the 70s while even the pioneers (30s) were relatively few and unsung.

En las últimas dos décadas Bolivia ha sido un laboratorio para diferentes experimentos de carácter político y social. En específico, dos acontecimientos han despertado un fuerte interés dentro y fuera del mundo académico: los procesos de descentralización a mediados de los años noventa y las reformas progresistas del gobierno de Evo Morales desde la decada pasada. distintas. No obstante, destacan tres limitaciones analíticas comúnmente observables....

This essay argues that the research on ethnic conflict has for too long suffered from
significant disciplinary divides among sociologists, historians, political scientists, anthropologists,
geologists, and economists—these divides bring attention to underemphasized factors, but can
also foster inattention to the influence of factors that fall outside of the specific purview of one’s
field. Even within political science, there is a divide between comparativists’ focus on state-level
factors and international relations scholars’ work on transnational dimensions. The past two
decades have seen important cross-fertilization due to numerous projects that seek to bridge
methodological and disciplinary boundaries that hamper fuller understanding of the causes and
solutions of ethnic conflict. Unfortunately, there remains a strong statist bias in the field, which
is, however, being challenged by a newer generation of scholars who are focusing on conflict
processes above, below, and beyond the state.

Las experiencias de racismo en las sociedades actuales son la reproducción
de los modelos que se fueron imponiendo siglos atrás. Un racismo que,
reformulado, sigue segregando, sometiendo y asesinando a la población negra en
diferentes espacios por todo el mundo. Una estructura que tiene sus raíces en las
mismas lógicas que desarrollaron los modelos coloniales y que tiene en muchas
ocasiones las mismas víctimas. De esta forma, no se entiende el presente sin
una revisión del pasado. Por ello se vuelve necesario realizar un acercamiento de
cómo la construcción del sujeto negro a lo largo de la historia viene a definir las
experiencias y las realidades que le engloban a día de hoy.
