The paper deals with the influence of additives on the progress of shrinkage and mass losses in self-compacting concrete. Limestone and fly ash at varying amounts were used as an additive in the production of four types of self-compacting concrete. Volume changes were observed from an early stage of setting (the measurement was commenced within 1 hour of mixing) using shrinkage drains with a moveable wall, followed by a long-term manual measurement using an external strain gauge. For the first 48 hours the volume-change measurement was continuous, and for the next few months it was performed manually. Mass losses were determined simultaneously with shrinkage – during the first 48 hours by weighing on a special weighing table capable of continuous recording, and manually afterwards.

Regardless of the recent groundbreaking introduction of personalized therapy, melanoma continues to be one of the most lethal skin malignancies. Still, a substantial proportion of patients either fail to respond to the therapy or will relapse over time, representing a challenging clinical problem. Recently, we have shown that vitamin D enhances the effectiveness of classical chemotherapeutics in the human malignant melanoma A375 cell line. In search for new combination strategies and adjuvant settings to improve melanoma patient outcomes in the current study, the effects of cediranib (AZD2171), an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor of VEGFR1-3, PDGFR, and c-KIT, used in combination either with 1,25(OH)2D3 or with low-calcemic analog calcipotriol were tested on four human malignant melanoma cell lines (A375, MNT-1, RPMI-7951, and SK-MEL-28). A study has been carried out on self-compacting paste (SCP) systems using various cements and secondary raw materials (SRM's) including rice husk ash (RHA) and Silica Fume (SF). These systems were characterized by SRM particle size, powder water demand (WD) and setting times, flow, strength, microstructure and early volume stability. The results show that WD increased by adding SRM's due to their smaller particle size, higher surface areas and internal porosity. Inclusion of SRM's in SCP systems as cement replacements also increases strength of SCP systems due to filler, hydration and pozzolanic actions which translate into pore refinement. It is demonstrated that the resultant properties of self-compacting cementitious systems (SCCS) depend upon the nature of SRM used.

Self-compacting paste (SCP) systems are the vehicles for the transport of aggregates within selfcompacting mortar and concrete systems. SCP systems incorporating different types of cements and secondary raw materials (SRM’s) were studied for SRM particle characteristics and powder parameters including water demand (WD), setting times and flow. Strength, early volume stability and microstructure of SCP systems are also reported. The results showed that SRM particle characteristics have a significant bearing on the system’s WD, super-plasticizer demand (SPD), strength and microstructure. Inclusion of pozzolanic SRM’s in SCP systems as ten per cent cement replacements increased the strength and durability due to three parallel operative mechanisms of filler (physical), hydration and pozzolanic actions (chemical).

An experimental work was mounted using 5.7 ml of the Conplast SP430 admixture and rice husk ash (RHA) at replacement levels of 0 to 50 % at 10 % intervals by wt. % of cement. It is on the performance of Conplast SP 430 admixture and its effects on concrete and concrete with rice husk ash (RHA). Concrete specimens were cast and cured for 3 to 90 days and subjected to slump and mechanical characteristics tests. Data generated from the experiments were analyzed and sensitivity analysis of the concrete mix was determined using the Minitab 18 Statistical Package. The results showed that CP with concrete improves the workability of the concrete and reduces water absorption. The reverse was the case when RHA was used with the admixture which may be an issue of compatibility. The statistical characteristics limit good and within the specified limits.

The aim of this research survey note is to provide a comprehensive overview of Smart Home Environments with a focus on their architectures and application areas, as well as utilized technologies, infrastructures, and standards. The main source of information was provided by past and existing research and development projects carried out in this area, while the main result of our survey is a classification of Smart Home Environments, as revealed by this projects’ survey.

Most of the published literature on concrete containing fly ash was limited to predicting the hardened concrete properties. It is understood that exist so restricted studies focusing on forecasting both fresh and hardened properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC). Hence, it is attempted to develop some models to predict the fresh and hardened properties of SCC by the optimized radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) method. This study aims to specify RBFNN method key parameters using arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA) and grasshopper optimization algorithm (GOA). The considered properties of SCC in the fresh phase are the L-box test, V-funnel test, slump flow, and in the hardened phase compressive strength. The results present powerful workability during the prediction process. It is observed that the developed models have performance evaluation indices in reasonable value in the learning and testing section. All in all, the RBFNN model developed by AOA outperforms others, with R^2 values at 0.9607 (slump flow), 0.9651 (L-box), 0.9905 (V-funnel test), and 0.9934 (compressive strength), which depicts the capability of this algorithm for determining the optimal parameters of the RBFNN, While, it is worth mentioning than the model developed with GOA algorithm is also powerful.

The rheological properties of the CMT gel were analysed. Data are presented to demonstrate that the gel is a non-homogenous, visco-elastic, non-Newtonian fluid with rheopectic, and rheodestructive behaviour. The fundamental chemistry of the CMT is reviewed and a modified theory of gel formation is presented. The implications of the rheological properties and modified theory of gel formation for an automatic sensor are discussed.

Self compacting concrete (SCC) is a type of concrete which can flow and spread through reinforcement and narrow sections which fills the empty spaces completely without any mechanical vibration. This type of concrete requires large quantity of powder, for which either fine pozzolanic (e.g. fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag and silica fume etc) or non-pozzolanic additions (crushed limestone or sand stone etc) are used. The composition of this blend of cement and filler material is significant in SCC, as high amount of cement with lower water content may cause autogenous shrinkage. Abstract — The history of the Scientific Council on Complex  Problem “Cybernetiсs” of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR created at the initiative of academician and navy admiral, Axel  Ivanovich Berg, is covered. Axel Berg’s brilliant predictions,  relating to the cybernetics development and digital transformation in education are described. The current continuation of Berg’s traditions is highlighted.

To determine the frequency of p53 gene mutation and protein expression in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) and to establish correlation between the two. Analytical study. Histopathology Department and Molecular Biology Laboratory, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Rawalpindi, from May 2010 to May 2011. Thirty diagnosed cases of OSCC were selected by consecutive sampling. Seventeen were retrieved from the record files of the AFIP, and 13 fresh/frozen sections were selected from patients reporting to the Oral Surgery Department, Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry (AFID). Gene p53 mutation was analyzed in all the cases using PCRSSCP analysis. DNA was extracted from the formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue sections and fresh/frozen sections. This research presents an experimental study of shear behavior of RC deep box beam strengthened internally by reinforced concrete transverse ribs. Eight beam specimens were tested, six box-deep beams and two solid-deep beams. The effect of type of concrete (NSC and SCC) and the number of internal cells on the behavior of deep box beam were tested. All beams were (2000mm) long and have been tested over a clear span of (1900mm) with a width of (450 and 200 mm) for top and bottom flanges respectively and (500mm) depth, the shear span-depth ratio (a/d) was (2) and longitudinal reinforcement ratio (ρ) was (0.00835). All beam specimens were simply supported under the effect of single point loading at mid span. Although growing evidence indicates that bioenergetic metabolism plays an important role in the progression of tumorigenesis, little information is available on the contribution of reprogramming of energy metabolism in cancer initiation. By applying a quantitative proteomic approach and targeted metabolomics, we find that specific metabolic modifications precede primary skin tumor formation. Using a multistage model of ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation-induced skin cancer, we show that glycolysis, tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, and fatty acid β-oxidation are decreased at a very early stage of photocarcinogenesis, while the distal part of the electron transport chain (ETC) is upregulated. Reductive glutamine metabolism and the activity of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) are both necessary for maintaining high ETC. Aflatoksini su mikotoksini koji nastaju pod utjecajem plijesni iz roda Aspergillus. Nekoliko je vrsta aflatoksina od kojih je najtoksičniji aflatoksin B1 (AFB1). Pod utjecajem povoljnih uvjeta vlage i temperature dolazi do proizvodnje AFB1 na žitaricama, najčešće kukuruzu. Konzumiranjem takve hrane preživači unose u organizam AFB1 koji se potom razgrađuje u aflatoksin M1 (AFM1) i izlučuje u mlijeko. Kontaminirano se mlijeko koristi u procesima proizvodnje mliječnih proizvoda. Zbog prisutnosti aflatoksina u mlijeku i mliječnim proizvodima, kako bi se zaštitili potrošači sve je veći naglasak na kontroli. La rheologie appliquee au beton est souvent caracterisee par une loi rheologique a l'etat stationnaire (independant du temps). Il s'agit d'un domaine assez pointu concernant principalement l'evolution de la contrainte de cisaillement en fonction du taux de cisaillement.
