Graphical user interfaces design in software development process focuses on maximizing usability and the user's experience, in order to make the interaction for users easy, flexible and efficient. In this paper, we propose an approach for evaluating the usability satisfaction degree of a web-based system. The proposed method has been accomplished in two phases and implemented on an airlines website as a case study. In the first phase, a website usability test is implemented by a number of users, and then the results obtained are translated into charts for a final web-based system evaluation in the second phase. The results achieved were satisfactory, since the places where the weaknesses and gaps in the website are identified and recommended solutions to avoid them are drawn. The authenticity of the results have been confirmed by comparing them with user opinions acquired from a questionnaire, which proves the precision in which the website is rated.

ABSTRACT Over the years, the software engineering community has developed various tools to support the specification, development, and maintainance of software. Many of these tools use proprietary data formats to store artifacts which hamper interoperability. On the other hand, the Semantic Web provides a common framework that allows data to be shared and reused across application, enterprise, and community boundaries. Ontologies are used to define the concepts in the domain of discourse and their relationships and as such provide the formal vocabulary applications use to exchange data. Besides the Web, the technologies developed for the Semantic Web have proven to be useful also in other domains, especially when data is exchanged between applications from different parties. Software engineering is one of these domains in which recent research shows that Semantic Web technologies are able to reduce the barriers of proprietary data formats and enable interoperability. In this tutorial, we present Semantic Web technologies and their application in software engineering. We discuss the current status of ontologies for software entities, bug reports, or change requests, as well as semantic representations for software and its documentation. This way, architecture, design, code, or test models can be shared across application boundaries enabling a seamless integration of engineering results.

Recent years have seen an exponential increase in the amount of available information in both print medium and electronic medium. The acceptance of electronic/digital medium has increased dramatically in recent years, which had led to the demand for more organized and accessible information in the digital medium. Hence, Digital libraries (DL's) emerged as the digital counterpart of the traditional library system. Digital library environments had negated the traditional limits on representation and distribution of information, by facilitating global access, round the clock service, classification, and organization of the available information, by adding more information retrieval elements. Another challenge emerged with the advancement of technology, which had increased applications of new forms of information, such as multimedia files, scientific data, unstructured data, and semi-structured data, heterogeneous structured data, which is being generated, stored and utilized by digital libraries worldwide. There a large amount of data generated every day for different domains such as medicine, healthcare, engineering, energy, and more. As a consequence, retrieving relevant information related to any domain from heterogeneous knowledge sources had become a challenging task. Ontologies have emerged as a potential solution in this field, as they have the ability to manage information resources efficiently, manage web complexities, and automate bibliofigureic storage and annotation management and more. Ontologies play a significant role in digital libraries by promoting interoperability by defining a common vocabulary for the ease of sharing information in a particular domain. Ontologies also tackle the challenge presented by the availability of heterogeneous information sources and improve the accuracy of information retrieval. This paper discusses, the need and potential applications of domain-specific ontologies and semantic technologies in DL's, which can be used to address the issue of increasing volume of information as well as enhancing the information retrieval capacity of Digital Libraries. The paper also discusses the designing and developing of domain-specific ontologies for Digital Library and suggest a model of Ontology-based Digital Library search system which retrieves exact results for queries and eliminates irrelevant results by having refined queries.

Submissions of proposals are very often a tedious affair. Proposals which are submitted goes through not only a complex and tedious process but often the scrutiny of many individuals of different roles. Hence, it is important that any automation envisaged goes through a meticulous exercise to achieve the same. Proposal Submission System aims to provide an online proposal submission mechanism, improving the traditional and physical methods of submission. Such system allows assignment submission to be more efficient and greater rigor. Online submission provides electronic copy of assignments, which has many benefits over traditional physical copy submission of assignments. With the implementation of Proposal Submission System, one can be subjected to the same rigor as traditional means without compromising on quality whilst adhering to the same process workflow.

Currently, ontology plays an important role in semantic web technology. Ontology learning approach is to distinguish the type of input such as text, dictionary, knowledge, policies, schemes and semi-structured schemes relations. Ontology learning can be explained as information extraction subtask and its objectives are to dig the relevant concepts and relationships from the corpus or a particular type of data sets. In this project, an ontology learning of text extraction from Qur'anic text as input data was assessed using a newly developed support system. The algorithms used to extract Qur'anic text in this project are Alfonseca & Manandhar's and Gupta & Colleagues's approach. The support system will assess and evaluate these two algorithms and compare with the manually text extraction (Gold Standard) in order to come out an appropriate method or technique which suitable to extract the ontologies from Qur'anic text which can help more people to understand the true meaning from Qur'an teaching.

Understanding and modeling user online behavior, as well as predicting future requests, remains an open challenge for researchers, analysts and marketers. In this paper, we propose an efficient prediction schema based primarily on the extraction of sequential navigation patterns from server log files. Traversed paths are monitored, recorded and cleaned before being completed with cashed page views. After session and episode identification follows the construction of n-grams. Prediction is based upon a 5+ n-gram schema with all lower level n-grams participating, a procedure that resembles the construction of an All 5th-order Markov Model. The schema resolves the typical dilemma between precision and applicability by deploying the site's content and structuring for outputting a prediction for every possible state with small loss in precision. Geospatial ontology development and semantic knowledge discovery addresses the need for modeling, analyzing and visualizing multimodal information, and is unique in offering integrated analytics that encompasses spatial, temporal and thematic dimensions of information and knowledge. The comprehensive ability to provide integrated analysis from multiple forms of information and use of explicit knowledge make this approach unique. This also involves specification of spatiotemporal thematic ontologies and populating such ontologies with high quality knowledge. Such ontologies form the basis for defining the meaning of important relations and terms, such as near or surrounded-by, and enable computation of spatiotemporal thematic proximity measures we define. SWETO (Semantic Web Technology Evaluation Ontology) and its geospatial extension SWETO-GS are examples of these ontologies. Two enabler for what we term geospatial analytics (GSA) are (a) the ability to automatically and semi-automatically ex-tract metadata from syntactically (including unstructured, semi-structured and structured data) and semantically heterogeneous and multimodal data from diverse sources, and (b) analytical processing that exploits these ontologies and associated knowledge bases, with integral support for what we term spatiotemporal thematic proximity (STTP) reasoning and interactive visualiza-tion capabilities. This chapter covers results of our geospatial ontology development efforts as well as some new semantic analytics methods on this ontology such as STTP.
