The purpose of this study is to reveal the breaking points which are effective in the emergence of health inequalities by using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale in Mersin province , Mezitli District. As the result of 1083 questionnaires in total applied to the population aged 18 years and over by considering neighborhood population, age group and gender it was observed that all the variables determining the social class status of the individuals have a determinative effect on the quality of life scale in terms of physical, psychological, social and environmental field scores. On the other hand, there is no direct effect of neighborhoods on quality of life scales. Thus, the individual's class position influences the quality of life scores both directly and indirectly such as convenience of the home and environmental facilities. ÖZ: Bu çalışmanın amacı Mersin ili Mezitli İlçesi genelinde Dünya Sağlık Örgütü Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeğini kullanarak sağlık eşitsizliklerinin ortaya çıkmasında etkili olan kırılma noktalarını ortaya koymaktır. 18 yaş ve üstündeki nüfusa mahalle bazında mahalle nüfusu, yaş grubu ve cinsiyet gözetilerek uygulan toplam 1083 anket sonucunda bedensel, psikolojik, sosyal ve çevresel alan puanları açısından bireyin mensup olduğu sosyal sınıfı belirle-yen tüm değişkenlerin yaşam kalitesi ölçeği üzerinde tanımlayıcı etkisi olduğu gözlenmiştir. Buna karşın yaşanılan mahallenin yaşam kalitesi ölçeği üzerinde doğrudan bir etkisi yoktur. Ancak mahallelerin homojen alanlar olmadığı düşünüldüğünde, aynı mahalle içindeki mekânsal nitelik farklılaşmaları (sağlık hizmetlerine kolay erişim, yeterli yeşil alan varlığı, yeterli gölgelik alan varlığı) yaşam kalitesi alan puanlarını etkilemektedir. Buna ek olarak bazı konut kullanım kolaylıkları da (konutun mülkiyeti, konutta kullanılan ısınma biçimi, evdeki oda sayısı, evde kullanılan içme suyu kaynağı, konutu kullanma süresi) yaşam kalitesi alan puanları üzerinde fark yaratan bir etkiye sahiptir. Dolaysıyla bireyin sınıfsal konumu hem doğrudan hem de konutun kullanım kolaylıkları ve çevresel olanaklar gibi dolaylı yollardan yaşam kalitesi ölçeğini etkilemektedir.
