ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ, ਪੰਦਰਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਭਾਰਤੀ ਉਪ ਮਹਾਂਦੀਪ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ । ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ, ਇਹ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਨੰਬਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ।  ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਲਸਫ਼ੇ  ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਕਲਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਫਲਸਫੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਧਾਰਨਾਵਾਂ ਹਨ: ਇੱਕ ਸਰਵ ਵਿਆਪੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ, ਸਰਬ ਸਾਂਝੀਵਾਲਤਾ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ, ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਾ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਯਤਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ, ਨੈਤਿਕ ਚਾਲ-ਚਲਣ, ਅਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਸਤੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਿਉਣਾ। ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ 28 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਪੈਰੋਕਾਰ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ, ਸਦਭਾਵਨਾ, ਸ਼ਾਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਹਾਲਤ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹੈ। ਹਿੰਸਾ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਆਦਰਸ਼, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੈ-ਇੱਛੁਕ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਯੁੱਧ ਰੋਕਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।  ਬੇਸ਼ਕ ਵੱਖੋ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਧਰਮਾਂ, ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰਾਂ, ਫਲਸਫਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੰਸੰਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਹਾਲਤ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੱਭ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਇਹੋ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਧਰਤ-ਵਾਸੀ ਸਮੂੰਹ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ । ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਗਠਨ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ  ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗੀ ਹਾਲਾਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬਧਿਤ ਹੋਣ ।

Punjabi Sikhs are an important ethnic and religious group from northwest India. Known for their hard work and distinctive religious ideas, Sikhs are found throughout the world. This paper aims to explore the history and historiography of Punjabi Sikh immigration within the British Empire and into the United Kingdom and the United States. While Sikhs reside in nations throughout the world, the boundaries of this short paper prevent a complete examination of the large scope of Punjabi migration.

Sikhism, a panentheistic religion, originated in the Punjab province of the Indian subcontinent during the 15th century. It is one of the youngest and fifth major world religions. The fundamental beliefs of Sikhism have been enshrined in the sacred scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib. These beliefs include: (i) Faith in and meditation on one universal creator. (ii) Unity of all humankind. (iii) Engaging in selfless service. (iv) Striving for social justice for all, (v) honest livelihood and ethical conduct while living a householder's life. Sikhism has about 28 million adherents worldwide. World peace is an ideal state of freedom, peace, and happiness among all nations and people. This idea of a peaceful world, free from violence, provides a basis for peoples and nations to cooperate to prevent warfare willingly. While different cultures, religions, philosophies, and organizations may have other concepts about how such an ideal state might come about, they have in common this idea of a cessation of all hostility amongst all humanity. World Peace could be established through religious or secular organizations that address human rights, education, or diplomacy to end all fightings. All religions are potential bearers of peace, reconciliation and reflection. It is valid for Sikhism as well. As we know that peaceful coexistence between individuals, communities and nations is possible provided freedom, justice, human dignity and equal opportunity to all is guaranteed. Sikhism with its doctrines of Sangat (holy congregation), pangat (equality), wand chhakna (sharing with others), love of Nature, sarbat da bhala (universal welfare), Seva (selfless service), universal brotherhood, justice, liberty and fraternity, offers a pragmatic approach to achieve our well-cherished goal of world peace.

Prof. Dr. Surjit Singh Bhatti, born in 1943, at Amritsar, India, is an international Physicist, a dedicated teacher, an able administrator, and a devoted proponent of Sikhism. After receiving a Ph.D. (Physics) degree from the University of Allahabad (India) in 1969, he started his professional career as a Lecturer in Physics at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. Soon he was invited by the University of Oklahoma, USA. to work with an eminent scientist Dr. Sergio Petrucci, as a PDF. In 1972, he joined Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and served as Head, Department of Physics during 1986-1989. In his tenure, he laid down the infrastructure for pursuing teaching and research activities in chemical, biological, and solid-state materials using the ultrasonic technique.
He played a vital role in establishing the Department of Applied Physics at G. N. D. University, in 1992 and served as its Head, and Dean (Applied Sciences) too. Herein he laid down the infrastructure to pursue research activities in several applied fields including high-temperature superconductors, solar energy, and digital electronics. After his retirement from the University in 2003, he was instrumental in setting up two Engineering Colleges e. g. B. K. S. Engineering College, Amritsar, and Akal College of Engineering & Technology at Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. He also served these institutions as their Founder Director-Principal. Thereafter, he served as Director-Principal at Adesh Institute of Engineering and Technology, Faridkot, Punjab.   
In his four decades-long career as a Physicist, he has published over 100 research papers in various reputed journals published from the USA, Germany, Japan, and India. He has authored three textbooks and numerous articles for the popularisation of science. Being a member of many national and international professional scientific societies, Dr. Bhatti has visited several countries including the USA, UK, Italy, France, and Hongkong concerning his research activities. Besides, he has completed six major Research Projects funded by various Government agencies and guided 12 Ph. D. students in his field of expertise.   
Having served as an educationist and administrator for over forty years, at various prestigious educational institutions in India, he has also established himself as an eminent writer in the field of popular science and Sikh theology. He has published several articles on various aspects of Sikh Spirituality, Cosmology, and Nature in a much-esteemed Journal "The Sikh Review." For the last several years, he is sharing his thoughts on various scientific and spiritual issues via his blog "Simply Science" available at drbhatti.ca. Through his literary essays and blog writing, he has been able to create an indelible mark of scholarship on the minds of his readers.
During the Corona pandemic lockdown period, he not only inspired his son Dr. Raja Balraj Singh, Alberta, Canada to initiate e-Diwan activity, to share various aspects of Gurmat via the internet. In the activity, in addition to Dr. S. S. Bhatti, several renowned Sikh scholars e. g. Dr. Bhai Harbans Lal, USA; Dr. Michael Hawley, Bibi Gurdish Kaur Grewal, and Prof. Maninder Singh, Alberta; Dr. D. S. Sekhon, and Dr. D. P. Singh, Ontario; Dr. Kala Singh, British Columbia, Canada; S. Kuljit Singh India; and Bhai Nirmaljit Singh, UK, etc. participated and shared their views on various aspects of Sikh theology and history. For the dissemination of mental health awareness among Sikh Sangat (community), several experts e. g. Dr. Punam Chouhan and Dr. Anmol Kapoor, Alberta, Canada shared their view in the e-Diwan. Several groups of young people were encouraged to share their talent in Gurbani kirtan. Thus Dr. Bhatti served well for the cause of Sikhism in the trying times of the corona pandemic. 
Prof. Bhatti, is committed to bringing out the truth of Gurbani, logically, rationally and scientifically. With his scientific training and devotion to Gurbani, he is eminently qualified to do so. Prof. Bhatti adheres that Sikh Gurus' Philosophy is perennial and universal in its approach to understand Cosmology, Nature, life, and human behaviour in the present scientific era. Keeping in view, his outstanding contributions for the propagation of Sikhi, his views on various aspects of Sikh Philosophy are presented here for the benefit of readers:

Sikhism is one of the five major world religions. It has the unique distinction of being the only one that arose in the second millennium. Sikhism, a modern religious philosophy propounded by our Gurus, is not an individualistic religion meant for personal salvation. To is meant to usher world peace by its moral authority. The "Granth and Panth" is a philosophy for the total emancipation of mankind.
Arnold Toynbee has observed that the Sikh religion had the potential of ushering in a new, higher civilization qualitatively different from the earlier Indic and Hindu civilizations. The potential of the Sikh religion, its elan vital, can play a dominant role in shaping the 21st-century society. There are numerous problems that confront people of all religions. Some of these (as listed below) pose serious challenges to the followers of the Sikh religion in the present century.

The human mind is the most unique, powerful, and complex creation of Nature. It gives us  the  capability  to  discern  things,  know  ourselves  and  the  world.  It  helps  us  to  adapt  to  our circumstances or change these to ensure our survival and well being. The human mind possesses matchless creativity and extensive capacity to create its own reality. Sadly, the remarkable mind has been hijacked to the make-belief circle and the illusive world.  Guru  Tegh  Bahadur,  the  ninth  Sikh  Guru,  is  credited  with  57  Salokas  and  59  other compositions (Shabds), written in 15 Raagas  (measures). His hymns are enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib [1-4]. These hymns cover a diverse range of topics [5-8]. A dozen Shabds and over three  dozen  verses  directly  address  the  problems  of  the  human  mind  and  its  effect  on  human destiny  [7].  In  his  compositions,  the  Guru  enunciates  on  the  origin  and  the  description  of  the animalistic  habits  of  the  human  mind.  He  emphasizes  that  the  mind's  fickleness  is  the  primary cause of unhappiness and failure in achieving our prescribed life goals. The Guru urges that we can restrain and channelize our mental energies. A person can do so  by  diverting his/her mind  from  its  animalistic  tendencies  and  turning  it  to  its  innate  longing for spiritual enlightenment. He emphasizes that with the continual longing for the Divine Grace (of Ek Onkaar) and  by cultivating a compassionate and contented attitude, one can achieve the goal of harnessing one's mind.

The adventurous Indian spirit , took Indians to unknown lands, where they had to face untold miseries and hardships. Despite that , the soaring spirit of these pioneer immigrants was never subdued. They toiled hard, made these new lands their home and contributed to their growth and development in multifarious ways. This is also the story of human evolution. In this chain of events, the story of Komagata Maru has a special historical significance. it resonates beyond 1914, linking to freedom movements in India and the right to vote for South Asians in Canada. It has helped the North Americans to move on from the insecurities of "Hindu Invasion" to the blooming of "Multiculturalism".

Science is defined as systematized knowledge of any kind that reflects a precise application of facts or principles. Viewed in this light Guru Nanak's life was a continuous process of scientific experimentation and enunciation. In this article, an attempt is made to bring out the scientific temper and the application of the methodology of science in guru Nanak's life.
Scientific methodology is defined as a mode of research in which a problem is identified, relevant data gathered, a hypothesis formulated and then empirically tested. The hypothesis that God alone Is, is an ancient tenet, tested and verified many times in mankind's history. However, it was given to Guru Nanak to prove this truth in the modern context.

Guru Gobind Singh was a many splendoured genius, possessed of extraordinary qualities of virtue and valour, service and sacrifice, solider and scholar. He was not only a great warrior but a prolific writer and a poet of high calibre. The brief span of forty-two years of his life is full of much activity. He wrote in many languages. It is said that fourteen maunds load of manuscripts were lost in Sirsa when the Guru was being pursued from Anandpur to Chamkaur. Fortunately, some of his work survived and from this, we get a pretty clear picture of his aims and ideals. The Guru compiled a variety of poetic compositions, some of which are considered masterpieces of medieval Punjabi poetry and Braj literature. His patronage of poets and scholars at his Darbar contributed a significant addition to the storehouse of Puranic Epics in Indian literature.

ਡਾ. ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਨਾ, ਜੰਮੂ-ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ, ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ। ਅਜੋਕੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ, ਡਾ. ਸਰਨਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਹਨ, ਉਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਨਾਤਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਬਚਪਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਘਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ  ਹੀ ਮਿਲੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਡਾ. ਸਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਦੇਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਨ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਵੱਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ  ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਮ ਅੰਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੋਜਾਂ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ  ਦੀਆਂ ਅਨੇਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ, ਸਮੇਂ ਸਮੇਂ  ਦੇਸ਼-ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ, ਮੈਗਜੀਨਾਂ  ਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਪੱਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਣਦੀਆਂ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ 51 ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਭਗ 300 ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਲੇਖ ਛੱਪ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਡਾ. ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਨਾ ਇਕ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਸ਼ਖਸ਼ੀਅਤ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮੁੱਚਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ-ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਰਪਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਬਹੁਪੱਖੀ ਸਖਸ਼ੀਅਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਡਾ. ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਨਾ, ਪਿਛਲੇ ਲਗਭਗ ਚਾਰ ਦਹਾਕਿਆ ਤੋਂ  ਹੀ ਉਹ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ, ਸਾਹਿਤਕ, ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਹਾਸਕਾਰੀ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤਹਿ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ, ਅਨੇਕ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਮਾਧਿਅਮਾਂ ਖਾਸਕਰ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ, ਮੈਗਜੀਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਭਾਰਣ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ ਹੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਭ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਹੁ-ਖੇਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਹੁ-ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵੀ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ  ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ  ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਅਮਲੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਾਵ ਰੱਖਣਾ, ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ  ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਨਾਜ਼ੁਕ ਅਹਿਸਾਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਤੇ ਕਵੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰਮੋਰ ਵਾਰਤਾਕਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਰਪੱਕ ਹੈ। ਵਰਨਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ, ਧਾਰਮਿਕ, ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣੀ ਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰੀ ਮਸਲਿਆ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਪਕੜ੍ਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਪੀਡੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਾਰਤਾਕਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਹ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਅਹਿਮ ਮੁੱਦਿਆ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਪਾਰਖੂ ਦਿ੍ਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਦੇ ਧਾਰਣੀ ਹਨ, ਉਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਸਰੋਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਮਾਧਿਅਮਾਂ  ਰਾਹੀਂ  ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਰੋਲ ਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਉਤਸੁਕਤਾ ਹਰ ਪਾਠਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠਾਠਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸੇ ਮੰਤਵ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਤੀ ਲਈ ਡਾ. ਜਸਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਰਨਾ ਜੀ ਵਲੋਂ  ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲੜੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ;

Guru Gobind Singh was a versatile genius, a unique personality of contrasting qualities of virtue and valour, the spirit of service and sacrifice, solider and scholar. He was not only a great warrior but also a prolific writer and a poet of high calibre. The brief span of forty-two years of his life is vibrant with activity. He wrote in several languages. It is said that fourteen maunds load of manuscripts were lost in Sirsa when the Guru was being pursued from Anandpur to Chamkaur. Fortunately, part of his work survived and they afford a pretty clear view of his aims and ideals. The Guru compiled a variety of poetic compositions, some of which are considered masterpieces of medieval Punjabi poetry and Braj literature. His patronage of poets and scholars at his Darbar contributed a significant addition to the storehouse of Puranic Epics in Indian literature.
