Tegula

The inscriptions on instrumentum domesticum in this catalogue are part of the inventory of Roman archaeological
finds made in recent years in the western part of the territory of Tarragona as part of the “Ager Tarraconensis Project (atp): A study of the archaeological landscape on the right of the River Francolí (2005-2009)” carried out by the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology.

We are presenting the corpus of epigraphy on amphoras tiles, imbrices and doliae documented for this research.

This is our fourth and final scientific contribution to the Union Académique Internationale (UAI), the international project Timbres Amphoriques. Our work takes up the bulk of the book with an epigraphic corpus of 700 stamps in different kinds of industrial type ceramic supports. We have done a thorough and rigorous review of already published data, and added a huge amount of new features. For the first time, we have solid evidence about when, where and how the Laietanian wine production and exportation centers worked, his involvement in the territory, and social relationships within the small in extent, but intense economic activity, the ager Barcinonensis who found in a vital artery Rubricatum also watered a fertile plain in which the Roman farmers were able to take high performance. For the first time, we have solid evidence about when, where and how wine producers and exporters from Laietanian centers operated, its involvement in the territory, and the social relations within its small area. Thus the ager Barcinonensis, of reduced dimensions but strong in economic activity, had in the Rubricatum river a way of important communication that also watered a fertile plain the Roman farmers knew how to take high performance. Moreover, we have been able to establish relationships between the owners or managers of wine farms with the inhabitants of the colony. From this extensive epigraphic corpus we have drawn two recent papers with specific studies on the socioeconomic impact of the production and trade of Laietanian wine relating to the colony and social advancement of its people: PIERO BERNI MILLET; JORDI MIRÓ CANALS (2013). Corpus epigráfico de la colonia romana de Carteia, donde se estudia un conjunto de 48 inscripciones en piedra y bronce, acompañadas de foto si la pieza se conserva, más varias marcas en un grupo de 60 tegulae y piezas de arcilla, donde destacan las de M. Petrucidius M. f.

During the archaeological researches undertaken in the Roman site from Rapoltu Mare – La Vie, Hunedoara County, in the summer of 2015, a roof tile fragment was found, inscribed during the production process. Three characters survived from the cursive written text, which seem to abbreviate the Latin name Caius Arrius. The respective tegula comes from the roof of a building constructed in the late 2nd century AD.

Eine archäologische Sachverhaltsermittlung im Park von Haus Meer (mittelalterliches Kloster und neuzeitlicher landtagsfähiger Herrensitz der Familie von der Leyen in Meerbusch-Büderich) erbrachte den Nachweis bisher unbekannter Klostergebäude sowie weitere Belege einer römischen Siedlung und zur hochmittelalterlichen Nutzung des Platzes nahe der bekannten Mottenanlage.

Las 39 marcas que presentamos pertenecen al fondo del Museo Episcopal de Vic. Se trata, básicamente, de marcas bien conservadas en pequeños fragmentos de cerámica, mayoritariamente pertenecientes a ánfora, pero también existe un pequeño grupo en tegula, y una sola marca en mortero.

Tegulae with stamps from the old holdings
of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar are presented
in this paper. They were found at Asseria
in the early 20th century. Their rediscovery happened
owing to comprehensive revisory analysis
which has been conducted in the museum in the
last few years with the aim of data input in the
program M++. Tegulae were found in three campaigns
undertaken in 1900, 1903 and 1911 by the
Austrian Archaeological Institute from Vienna.
After they had been brought to the Museum, all
tegulae were recorded in the book of acquisitions
which was written from October 2, 1898 until May
16, 1927. Analysis revealed that most tegulae were
imported from northern Italic workshops i.e. fromthe area of the Po River delta and Aquileia and its
surroundings. Tegulae from local workshops are
less numerous. We could not find analogies for one
tegula in the available literature but it is possible
that it was produced in some local workshop. Although
this is a relatively small sample, it is clear
that commercial connections between the hinterland
of Dalmatia and northern Adriatic area were
strong.

Borlenghi, Université Lumière Lyon 2, Lyon, 2016.  Il s'agit d'une recherche portant à la fois sur les parements et maçonneries de ces bâtiments, mais aussi sur les matériaux les composant (TCA, mortiers, antéfixe...). Cette présentation met avant l'établissement de la typochronologie des tuiles de l'agglomération secondaire de Corent, mais aussi l'application possible de celle-ci.
