Rapid and accurate determination of gestational age (GA) may be vital to the appropriate care of the critically ill pregnant patient and improve obstetric care through allowing the optimal timing of necessary INTERVENTIONS and the avoidance of unnecessary ones. Ultrasound scans are considered to be the most cost-effective, accurate and safe methods for measurement of various fetal parts in pregnant women. The aim of this research is to explore the accuracy of ultrasound in determining gestational age of fetus in third trimesters. Data collected for all pregnant women referred to the Maternity & Children’s Hospital in Jeddah. Only women with single live fetus were included in this study. Women who participated in the study were selected on following criteria: Regular menstrual cycles, known date of last menstrual period and previous live normal neonates in multipara. All scans were performed by a single ultrasonologist on one ultrasound machine. From collected data, it was found that out of 53 (100%) patients, 44 (84.62%) pregnant woman have different gestational age from US and last menstrual period (LMP). From this study we can conclude that the main method to follow fetus growth in third trimester not biparietal diameter (BPD) measurement only. The BPD in third trimester is not reliable and be useless when the patient pass 30 weeks and the BPD has to be side with other measurements when we take it in later trimesters to emphasize the normal growth of fetus and avoid wrong measurement of ultrasound.

Background: Anemia during pregnancy may lead to serious maternal and fetal complications such as miscarriage, preterm birth and post-partum hemorrhage. This study aimed to determine effects of ferrous fumarate supplementation alone and combined with date consumption on hemoglobin levels in women in the third trimester of pregnancy. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was done on all pregnant women in third-trimester of pregnancy who were referred to the Puteri Ayu Public Health Center in Jambi, Indonesia in 2019. Overall, 60 participants were enrolled via convenience sampling. The subjects were divided into two groups of ferrous fumarate supplementation alone (n=30) and ferrous fumarate supplementation combined with date consumption (n=30). Data were analyzed using the paired t-test and independent t-test at 95% confidence interval. Results: Ferrous fumarate supplementation significantly increased hemoglobin levels in the subjects (P=0.000). However, the combined use of ferrous fumarate and dates was more effective in increasing hemoglobin levels in the subjects (P=0.000). Conclusion: Our results suggest that consumption of dates alone or combined with ferrous fumarate supplementation could be recommended to pregnant women in order to prevent or control anemia during pregnancy.

Background: A quick look at the existing literature indicates that sleep disturbances during pregnancy could be a risk factor for adverse outcomes. The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of maternal sleep quality in late pregnancy and the association between preterm births and sleep quality. Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 300 eligible singleton pregnant women attending the prenatal care clinics, affiliated with Babol University of Medical Sciences. The data were collected through convenience sampling. The self-report Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire was used to measure the pattern and the quality of sleep in pregnant women. Results: The prevalence of self-reported poor sleep quality was found to be 77% among the pregnant women in Babol, Iran. The chi-square test did not show any statistically significant difference in characteristics between pregnant women with good and poor sleep qualities. Also, the adjusted odds ratio for preterm labor revealed no significant relationships between sleep quality and preterm birth. Conclusion: The findings demonstrated that there was a high prevalence of poor quality sleep among pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy. However, poor sleep quality was not associated with preterm labor, making this problem one of the major problems experienced by pregnant women.

very hour of every day, almost 500 new mothers across the United States face the same decision: how to feed their newborns (Galson, 2009). Breastfeeding is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics Work Group on Breastfeeding, which affirms exclusive breastfeeding provides ideal nutrition that is sufficient to support optimal growth and development for approximately the first 6 months of life (Schlickau & Wilson, 2005). Evidence suggests that breastfeeding decreases risks for many diseases in infants and mothers. From virtually all infants being breastfed in 1950, the prevalence of breastfeeding at hospital discharge declined to a low of 25% in 1967, rebounding to hover at around 64% by 1998(Weimer, 2001). The World Health Organization, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Center for Disease Control identified the lack of education that mothers receive pertaining to breastfeeding. In attempt to become a recognized baby-friendly hospital, one hospital identified a lack of education provided to their expecting mothers. The breastfeeding rate was below the national average. In an attempt to increase their current breastfeeding rate an evidence based breastfeeding educational program was implemented to expecting mothers. The education was provided to mothers during their childbirth class and on the Ante-partum Unit of the hospital. The education was presented in the form of a handout and video. The participants were required to complete a pretest and posttest to evaluate their knowledge and attitude of breastfeeding. This article will discuss the process used for the implementation and evaluation of an evidenced based breastfeeding education program to mothers in their third trimester of pregnancy using the Bandura’s Social Learning Theory as a guiding framework.

Objectives: To explored the relation between serum pp13 level and placental pp13 receptor in preeclamptic women at their third trimester Materials and methods A case control study was carried out from august 2018 to January 2019. A hundred two pregnant women included 50 pregnant women have preeclampsia as patients and 52 healthy pregnant women as control. The blood and placenta tissue samples were taken at the time of operation. All individuals underwent elective caesarian section. Results: s.pp13 level was the significant lower in preeclampsia (mild & sever) at third trimester versus pp13 of healthy women pregnant (54.29±3.129 pg/ml, 54.33±4.312 pg/ml, 54.25±4.684 pg/ml vs 67.06±3.296 pg/ml), the correlation serum pp13 and age negative correlation with control group and pp13 receptors in placental tissue was essentially confined to the blood lakes and around blood vessels this was structural localization of In preeclampsia Conclusion: low level of PP13 in pregnant women at their 3 rd.
