"Narrator Natalie Naudus brings a quiet intensity to this genre-crossing audiobook...the perfect fit for a tale of queer joy, first love, and self-discovery." -- AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner
From the New York Times bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue comes a new romantic comedy that will stop readers in their tracks...
For cynical twenty-three-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don’t exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can’t imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there’s certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures.
But then, there’s this gorgeous girl on the train.
Jane. Dazzling, charming, mysterious, impossible Jane. Jane with her rough edges and swoopy hair and soft smile, showing up in a leather jacket to save August’s day when she needed it most. August’s subway crush becomes the best part of her day, but pretty soon, she discovers there’s one big problem: Jane doesn’t just look like an old school punk rocker. She’s literally displaced in time from the 1970s, and August is going to have to use everything she tried to leave in her own past to help her. Maybe it’s time to start believing in some things, after all.
Casey McQuiston’s One Last Stop is a magical, sexy, big-hearted romance where the impossible becomes possible as August does everything in her power to save the girl lost in time.
"A dazzling romance, filled with plenty of humor and heart." - Time Magazine, "The 21 Most Anticipated Books of 2021"
"Dreamy, other worldly, smart, swoony, thoughtful, hilarious - all in all, exactly what you'd expect from Casey McQuiston!" - Jasmine Guillory, New York Times bestselling author of The Proposal and Party for Two

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a thrilling rollercoaster with fun and witty writing. Some reviewers mention annoying voices in the audio version and a bit of white saviourism. However, the incorporation of past and present, the love story, and the friendships in the book are adored by many. The contemporary writing style, pop culture references, and the magical aspect are also praised. Overall, this book is engaging, surprising, and clever, making it a favorite for those looking for queer romance and supernatural mystery.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely just beautiful! Jane is the leather clad lesbian of my dreams! I swear it’s not a super depressing book but I was happy/sad crying through the last hour!

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I could not get into this - OOOF. I was completely immersed in RWRB. Unfortunately this one does not slap. So many plot points, nothing made sense, the ending was too convenient. Slow placed, lack of romance, just not good.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I can confidently say that Casey McQuiston has become my favourite author! I adored Red, White and Royal Blue, it’s my favourite book ever and now One Last Stop is joint number one for me.
I quite enjoyed the surprise aspect of the story. I wasn’t expecting for a sci-fi element but I loved it! This was my first experience listening to an audiobook and I’m definitely going to get myself a physical copy for my collection! Brilliant! A must read!2 people found this helpful
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Waitress August is working her way through college, living in a tiny apartment with three roommates. During her morning commute to school, she meets a captivating young woman on the subway. They strike up a friendship, and August soon realizes Jane isn't what she appears to be. Can Jane escape the time slip she seems to be caught in—and can August bear to let go of the woman who's won her heart?
This book is about as different from RED, WHITE, AND ROYAL BLUE as it can be. It's an emotional and intricately woven story with unique and interesting characters. If you like magical realism and a joyous celebration of diversity, this book is for you.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.2 people found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I just finished the audiobook today because I couldn’t find a physical copy anywhere. But I will be getting one soon! I loved this book! It is so cute, all the different romances and characters. I ship them all ?. I loved the addition of a mystery because I like my mystery novels as well. Such a mysterious, beautiful romance novel. I will think about Jane and August for a while to come and I won’t mind a reread at all.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was just ok for me. I enjoyed the side characters more than our main, August.
I’m still confused about how all this PDA occurred on a train.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book captures your attention so wholly.
It explores what it’s like to be someone who is cynical and jaded from her past and finds herself surrounded by people who want to be her friend.
Not only that but August finds a girl out of time on the subway and they slowly fall in love.
This book is magical in all of the best ways possible.
It has sweet and tender moments as well as so many fun parts that made my heart sing in my chest.
I highly recommend this one.1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So fun & romantic it makes a het cis 65 yo long for a more gender fluid world - and wonder what it would have meant had they grown up in the one August and her friends did.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I found the first part SO boring I almost stopped reading. It picked up quickly after the scene in the shop when they are planning how to answer train’s girl status (can’t explain without spoiling). The roommates were what kept the story going for me. Niko and Myla were adorable! I’m bummed that some reason I wasn’t feeling the main couple’s love. I guess at the end I sort of made peace with that and just read it for the sake of the mystery.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The narration is on point. I loved it! I also love the way this story unraveled. It is a fantasy yes but in the most realistic way possible. The chemistry between August and Jane is amazing. The found family is heartwarming. All elements I love in a book are balanced deliciously. <3

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5That was absolutely perfect ? There’s nothing I did not like about this book. The plot and the characters were fantastic, relatable and, most importantly (for me at least) well written. Thank you Casey Mcquiston, for being a genius!!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The writing is so great. She’s truly gifted. The motley cast of characters make this a warm, human story that you can’t put down because of the paranormal conceit that keeps you guessing.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I totally loved it! The Story and the Characters, masterpiece!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Me encantó que se juntara la magia con lo revoltoso de la vida en la ciudad. Las voces que les dan me hacen pensar en los personajes ??
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A love story for everyone! I loved the contemporary writing style and pop culture references, although the preponderance of F bombs got a little tiring.
