About this audiobook
With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn's most infamous Villain results in a job offer-naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don't find evil so attractive, Evie.
But just when she's getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat . . . and not just the literal kind. Because something rotten is growing in the kingdom of Rennedawn, and someone wants to take the Villain-and his entire nefarious empire-out.
Now Evie must not only resist drooling over her boss but also figure out exactly who is sabotaging his work . . . and ensure he makes them pay.
After all, a good job is hard to find.
Contains mature themes.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a delightful and fun read. The dialogue and character-building are fantastic, making the book enjoyable and heartwarming. While some readers found the narrator to be a drawback, others appreciated the emotional performance. The story has a great balance of banter and romance, although some felt there could have been more. Overall, it is recommended for those looking for a light and warm fantasy read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's likeable and exactly what you'd expect from the title.
The mystery was odd, since I don't feel there were proper clues to figure it out before, but maybe they were just too subtle for me?
Also the target of the mystery's moral values came waaay out the left field. There was a little foreshadowing there, but nothing that would justify something that messed up.
The protagonist is also clumsy enough to die.
I LOVED that the protagonist learned that it's okay to kill filth ❤️
There is a bit of good intentions with bad methods vs bad intentions with acceptable methods at play here. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Bought the book on pre-order, had been following the Tiktoks for years. It took me a year to finally read it because of life and stuff, which is why I just started listening to it. Its SO GOOD! It has a delightful world, custom built to fit modern things into a medieval fantasy world in a way that felt natural and the PLOT TWIST GOT ME! I didn't figure it out until 1 chapter before, which i think is when the author wanted the reader to figure it out.
Definitely worth a read. I did listen a 1.2x speed because I am autistic and my brain needs a faster audio. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely amazing and addicting! Listened to it in one sitting! The dynamics between the characters made them feel like real, fleshed-out people. I cannot wait to find out what happens in the sequel!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Amazing read! A good amount of plot twists that I truly didn’t see coming and great character building and action. I would honestly give this a 4.5, it was all around great and I can’t wait to read the next in the series (yes, it leaves you on a cliff hanger!).
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love the completely different premise. Just a twist on everything else you have ever read and thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved the story! Fun twist on fantasy with an office-like setting. The reader was difficult to listen to though.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book it's self is a 4/4.5, but the narrator is terrible. I hope they get a different one for the next book. Dual narrators would be great!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was between 4 and 5 stars for this, but had to level up. It was such a fun and playful read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really liked it. Good story! I want the next audiobook now! By the way, it would have been 5 stars , but because of the narrator I had to take one down. (I just didn't like her "male" voice. I would have liked a male narrator for the villain parts)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was such a good read! The dialogue and character-building were fantastic. It was one of those books where you are kicking your feet one moment because they are so cute and then laughing your ass off the next.
I'm dying for the second book!!!! - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Chaotic and a robotic narrator but it's unique AF. Listen at your own risk.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Abit slow and long drawn-out, but really funny. Narrator was good

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I couldn't find anything in the description that said this is YA, but it feels *very* young adult. The characters are supposed to be adults but are written like they're 17.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sweet story about people working together to find a person who betrayed the Villain. Not enough romance for me. Narration was painfully slow. I had to take many breaks.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The narrator read everything with an upward inflection. I got 1 paragraph in and I immediately said nope, not a good audiobook narration.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Could not finish. The narrator putting inflections on words in random places. Holy lord. Pass. It's. No. Run.
