About this audiobook

The instant New York Times bestseller that BookTok is calling “absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G” (@hollylovesbooks1519) and “impossible to put down” (@kurryreads), from the author of Local Woman Missing and Just the Nicest Couple

Everyone has secrets, but not everyone has remorse…

A terrible accident.

Meghan Michaels is trying to find balance between being a single mom and working full time as an ICU nurse, when a patient named Caitlin arrives in her ward with a traumatic brain injury. They say she jumped from a bridge and plunged over twenty feet to the train tracks below.

A shocking revelation.

When a witness comes forward with new details about Caitlin’s fall, it calls everything they know into question. Was a crime committed? Did someone actually push Caitlin, and if so, who... and why?

No one is safe.

Meghan lets herself get close to Caitlin until she’s deeply entangled in the mystery surrounding her. Only when it’s too late, does she realize that she and her daughter could be the next victims...

“A tense, compelling thriller with completely gasp-worthy twists.” —Nita Prose, #1 bestselling author of The Maid

Editor's Note

Blindsiding twist…

Suspense skyrockets in Kubica’s novel (following “Just the Nicest Couple”). When ICU nurse Meghan Michaels cares for a comatose patient who apparently jumped from a bridge (the truth is much darker), she gets personally invested in her recovery. Meanwhile, a predator stalks the neighborhood, putting Meghan even more on edge. Multiple plot lines keep readers questioning the truth until a blindsiding twist reveals all.

10 out of 10. It wasn’t predictable, lots of twists and the narrator did a fantastic job.

Whaaaaat!?!?! I didn't see that twist coming. I was kind of confused as to what was happening because I didn't see how everything could come together, but boy oh boy. I enjoyed that.

There were so many twists and turns to the plot!

I enjoyed it but the ending was a bit of a let down. I wish it would've focused more on Megan and Kaitlyn rather than bringing in something else just for shock value. The story has enough shock moments without a random (not so random) one that felt a bit irrelevant to me.

There were tons of twists and turns. Hard to know who were the antagonists and who were the protagonists. There were parts of the book that were quite irritating.

A binge-worthy book with plenty of twists and turns. Meghan Michael is an ICU nurse, a divorced mother with a teenage daughter. When a patient comes in after an apparent suicide, Meghan is drawn to her and her family. This, coupled with running into an old high school friend, causes things to spiral out of control. Did the patient jump or was she pushed? Who is the random man stalking and attacking local women at night? And how far would you go to keep your secrets? All the answers lie within the ICU unit of the hospital.

Oh my, good Lord! The twists & turns I was held captive on an emotional roller coaster. Never under estimate what's mother will do for her child! Does he know? Did he keep her money because he wanted it from the start? Did he always know she wasn't his child? Will we get a book two of this? I have so many questions! I hate cliffhangers like this, yet I love them.

Ugh. Poorly written, only OK narration.
The writing is awful. Way more words than necessary...needs a good editor. Too many storylines going on and felt poorly connected. The process of the main character *figuring out* what was going on was absolutely painful. I'd say most peeps would reach a "get a clue, already" pretty quickly. It was truly ridiculous how long it took for her to finally sort it.

I listened to the whole darn thing just because I wanted to see how it finally wrapped. Thinking that was NOT time well spent.

The narrator had a fairly monotonous way of delivering narration and dialogue. Eventually, between the poor writing and irritating narration, I just started skipping ahead.

I don't recommend and sadly, doubt I'll read this author again.

Too much unnecessary subplots. There were lots of twists but were not executed in a good way. The twists did not shock me.
