INTRODUCTION
For many years, I longed to be married. I wanted to be with someone who loved me and love them in return. Living in a foreign country, with no family or friends, I was alone and depressed. And although I longed for love, I didn’t trust myself to love—no one else in my family had a happy relationship, and I was sure I would follow in their footsteps. I had dreams about my ideal man and relationship but didn’t know how I could make these dreams reality. I asked others who had good relationships about how they met their spouses, but no one had a clue. It just happened, we just met!
—that was the answer they all gave me. But how did they manage to be so fortunate in their early 20s when I hadn’t got a single chance to meet the one for me even in my 30s? Not fair! It couldn’t be true—it couldn’t be just luck. I didn’t want to be patient until the end of time, hoping that one day, it would happen.
I started poring over books on relationships, but they were all about what you do and don’t do after you meet someone. I prayed a lot but it didn’t seem to be working. The only things I had were money and a dream so I did everything I could: I got a few coaches, read many books, met amazing people along the way, and
