About this ebook

In Black And White is more than just a compilation of poems. It is a deeply spirited journey of harsh realities, open-mindedness, passion, and self-realization. It was a privilege to witness the process of ardent exploration of art and how it expresses daily life events in the physical construct.

I reminisce all days I locked myself in the closet, hiding behind the scenes, contemplating speaking out my truth. Not that I am now in a better place but I am still here, affronting to bridge the gap between two ends that must hear from each other. The process has been amazing! Poetry literally brought me up, to this I am.

For someone who grew up a child header with parents far-flung in the diaspora, humbly; I have sailed through. My utmost gratitude to family and friends. Those who motivated me to go forward and those who challenged me with negativity. I also recognize countless artists I have met in libraries, parks, cafes, buses, and other quiet spaces. I am thankful to my teachers, lecturers, classmates, co-workers, business partners, inspiring musicians, and others that helped along the way.

Plan International Zimbabwe, you made this possible. Lastly, my prepublication unit, the work you have done is splendid. The anthology is finally out. Here is to sleepless nights, author-publisher fights, constructive criticism, determination for success, passion, and grit.

How can I ever forget you, Beloved Readers? You have taken your precious time and resources to appreciate art. You are the reason why we write these poems, piece after piece. All I ever wanted was to share my world with yours.
