IP Environmental Ratings: General Information

IP ratings indicate the degree of protection devices have against dust, liquids, and impacts. The IP rating system uses two numbers to specify protection levels, with the first number referring to solid object protection and the second referring to liquid ingress protection. Higher numbers indicate greater levels of protection, from complete lack of protection at IP00 to protection against immersion over 1m at IPX7.
