    This circularly knit hat has a moss-stitch rise and crown and a K1, P1 ribbed brim, inside of which the ribbed scarf ties are picked up and knitted down,
    MOSS STITCH (over an even number of sts)
    Rnds 1 and 2 *K1, p1; rep from * to end. Rnds 3 and 4 *P1, k1; rep from * to end. Rep rnds 1-4 for moss st.

    MATERIALS
    Karaoke by South West Trading Company, 134oz/50g balls, each approx 109yd/100m (soy silk/wool) 3 balls in #296 fuchsia One size 7 (4.5mm) circular needle, 16"/40cm length OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE One set (5) size 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed needles Stitch marker

    HAT
    Brim With circular needle, cast on 164 (180) sts. Place marker and join for knitting in the round, taking care not to twist sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 1"/4cm. Next rnd *P2tog; rep from * around82 (90) sts. Next (turning) rnd Purl. Crown Work in Moss St for 6"/15cm from turning rnd. Shape top Change to dpn, and dec as foll: Next rnd *P3tog; rep from * to last 1 (0) st, p 1 (0) st 28 (30) sts. Next rnd *P2tog; rep from * around 14 (15) sts. Next rnd *P2tog; rep from * to last 1 (0) st, p 1 (0) st 15 sts. Cut yarn with a 12"/30.5cm tail. Thread through rem sts and cinch tightly to close. Scarf Ties Mark back of hat. Measure 3"/9cm from that point and pick up and knit 24 sts on the underside of the brim at turning row. Work as foll: Row 1 Sl 1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end. Rep row 1 until tie measures 27"/68.5cm. Bind off in rib. Rep for other side. %

    Circumference 18 (20)"/45.5 (56)cm

    GAUGE
    18 sts and 24 rows to 4"/10cm over moss st using size 7 (4.5mm). TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
