    Reminders

    *Picture Day is Monday,
    September 15. It is an out of
    uniform day.

    *Library books must be returned
    on Thursday of each week.

    *Ice Cream Social and Bingo is
    Friday, September 19, 3:15-4:45.
    I hope to see you at the gym!

    Extra Shoes
    Please remember to have an extra pair of
    shoes in your childs backpack on every
    Monday and Friday. Three First
    Graders did not have them today.


    News
    Religion: We are practicing our prayer manners
    each day. We are learning about the stories in the
    Bible. We read 2 stories about Jesus.

    SuperKids: We will be completing the book
    Welcome Back, Superkids next week. We read
    three stories about the Superkids. We are
    practicing writing sentences correctly.

    Math: We are practicing using math vocabulary
    words to name the parts of an addition sentence.
    We are using counters, connecting cubes, and are
    drawing pictures to help us answer math problems.
    We are using a bar picture to help us plug in the
    information given in a word problem. This week,
    we practiced adding with zero, changing the order
    of addends does not change the sum, and finding
    addition sentences for a given number.

    Science: We are reading about using our senses.
    We shared the booklets about our senses with the
    class. We drew pictures of living and nonliving
    things. We will finish this chapter next week.

    Social Studies: We are reading about going to
    school. We are comparing our school day to the
    one described in our textbook.
    Star of the Week
    Joseph was our Star this week.
    He brought in lots of photos to
    share with the class. He
    showed us some of his favorite
    things. His mom will be out
    guest reader next Tuesday.
    You are a super star, Joseph!
