Post-Campaign News Alert: Illinois Click It or Ticket Enforcement Ends
The Riverside Police Department and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)
What:
From May 11-25, 2015, IDOT supported law enforcement agencies statewide to remind
motorists to buckle up both day and night during the Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement
mobilization. The Riverside Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement
agencies across Illinois in this annual effort to get more motorists to buckle up, in the front and
back seat - and save more lives.
During the mobilization, The Riverside Police Department issued:
11 seat belt citations
2 DUI arrests
1 suspended/revoked licenses
7 uninsured motorists
11 speeding citations
2 Cell phone violations
16 Other traffic offenses
The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Riverside, but that is no excuse to
stop using your seat belt. Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers, in the
front seat and back seat, are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for
the safety violation, says Sergeant Miller.
Remember: In Illinois, children are required to be in a car seat or booster seat until at
least age 8 and all children younger than 13 should ride in the back seat.
