The microprocessor-based relay shall provide a combination of functions including protection,

monitoring, control, and automation.

Relay self-checking functions shall be included. Specific requirements follow.

Protection and ControlSEL-700G0, SEL-700G1 Generator Protection Relays

The relay shall provide protection over the operating frequency range of 1570 Hz. Protection and
control functions shall include the
following:
Two-zone, positive-sequence impedance mho element for loss-of-field detection (40).
100% stator ground fault detection based on measurement of neutral overvoltage plus neutral
and terminal third-harmonic
voltage differential with settable sensitivity (64G).
DC field ground protection (64F) based on switched dc voltage injection method (requires SEL2664 Field Ground Module).
Out-of-step protection based on single or double blinders (78).
Overexcitation detection based on volts/hertz measurement. One definite-time and a composite
definite/inverse-time element
shall be provided together with a custom curve element (24).
Negative-sequence overcurrent elements, including definite-time and inverse-time operating
characteristics (46).
As many as eight (four each for the X side and Y side) sensitive directional power elements with
flexibility to provide
antimotoring, over-power, or low-forward power indication (32).
Two-zone compensator distance and voltage-restrained or voltage-controlled phase timeovercurrent element for backup
protection (21/51V/51C).
Phase, residual, neutral, and negative-sequence instantaneous and definite-time overcurrent; and
inverse-time residual and
neutral overcurrent elements (50P, G, N, Q/51N, G).
Restricted earth fault (REF) protection element for the detection of ground faults in wyeconnected windings.
Directional residual-ground overcurrent elements (67G).
Directional neutral overcurrent elements (67N).
Phase, phase-to-phase, positive-sequence, negative-sequence, and residual overvoltage
elements (59P, PP, V1, Q, G), phase,
phase-to-phase, and positive-sequence undervoltage (27P, PP, V1) elements, and synchronismcheck voltage input over- and
undervoltage (59S, 27S) elements.
Inadvertent energization protection (50/27).
Unit breaker failure protection (BF).
Supervision of voltage-based protection functions by loss-of-relaying-potential detection logic
(60LOP).
Over- and underfrequency elements (81) and rate-of-change-of-frequency elements (81R).
Percentage restraint and unrestrained phase current differential elements (87) with fixed or
variable percentage, using one or two
settable slopes. Second-, fourth-, and fifth-harmonic elements, w
