Structural system of suspending

SAUDI OGER
electrical cable

PURPOSE
The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the system to be taken for achieving the
specified requirements for structural system of suspending the electrical cables at segments
25, 7.
SCOPE
This Method Statement is to provide a detailed description for the execution of all works related
to structural elements under the scope of structural system of suspending the electrical cables
cross with segments 7,25 .
Method statement
1- Locate and set out of grid lines and axes of foundations
2- Establish the test foundation pits to determine the exact level of existing cable duct
bank and hand tool shall be used for excavation that approach the existing duct bank.
3- Check the limits of tunnel excavation and be sure that safe distance for requires
foundation is available
4- Execute the foundation pits up to the required levels.
5- Establish the plain concrete up to the required level
6- Establish and Form work.
7- Establish the steel reinforcements
8- Erect the anchor bolts in the right location as per structural drawings.
9- Concreting of foundations
10- Erect the base plates and steel columns
11- Backfilling around foundation with compacted sand to >= 95 % of dry density.
12- Establish the horizontal strand cable and use the tension equipment provided with dial
gauge to adopt the tension force to max 5 tons
13- Establish the inclined strand wire and tied to the Hal strand cable in the specified
locations.
14- Repeat the same procedures to adopt the tension force to max 2.00 ton to keep the sag
deflection of strand wire cable max to 30 cm.
15- Start to excavate up to the duct bank of electrical cable.
16- Duct bank shall be free from any working electrical cable during excavation or
demolishing process.
17- Duct bank will be cut from both end closed to the limit of tunnel excavation, and then
during the excavation of tunnel it will be broken.
18- The cable tray can be installed to the appropriate level to compensate the increasing
of electrical cable length .
SURVEY AND SETTING OUT
The construction site shall be surveyed and set out by establishing grid lines and levels of the
work. The limits and elevations shall be in accordance with the approved construction
drawings.

EXCAVATION
1- Foundation pits shall be excavated to the extents indicated in the approved construction
drawings and the excavation slopes not less than 1.5 horizontal to 1 vertical.

2- Any excess excavation shall be backfilled with an approved fill material and compacted to
>95% of its maximum dry density (or as specified). If the compaction is not achievable, over
excavated area shall be replaced with mass concrete - Grade C15, if and when so required.
3- Hand tools shall be used for excavation that approaches existing pipes, conduits, cables or
other underground facilities. Temporary support shall be provided to the existing utilities to
prevent damage during operation.
4- The excavated material shall be moved to an approved dumping area

STEEL REINFORCEMENTS FOR CONCRETE WORKS

Approval shall be taken for Steel reinforcements of various sizes before the commencement of
concrete works.
Steel Reinforcement shall be bent accurately to the shapes and dimensions shown on the
drawings and approved bar bending schedules
All bars shall be free of dust, loose rust and oil before they are placed in position.
.All bars must be placed in the exact position shown on the drawings.
All the reinforcement placed in position and ready for concreting shall be taken approval from
CM engineer before concreting.
A competent steel fixer shall be present during the whole time that the concreting is in
progress.

BACKFILLING
Materials
Materials to be used for backfilling works shall be approved

Placement and Compaction

Backfilling of foundations shall not be carried out until the foundations and structures within the
excavation have been inspected and approved by the Client.
Fill material shall be spread in layers of 250 mm. For backfilling works around foundations, it
shall be compacted more than 95% of the maximum density.
