1. The water could be used because in a convection is the movement of molecules

within fluids, such as liquids and gases, which includes water. The heat would be transferred in the liquid, and the more heat the liquid has, the less dense it would be, so it would rise. The less heat the liquid has, the more dense it would be so it would sink. Water could be easily heated and cooled and the room temperature water would be the neutral. Therefore it would be suitable to simulate a convection current. Also, water is readily available, non toxic, and will dissolve the colourants.
2. The hot water appeared to be less dense than the room temperature water

because, the more dense something is, the more bonds there are, and the substance will be heavier and sink, but most of the drops of hot water did not sink to the bottom and instead rose up to the top of the room temperature water. However, the cold water sank down to the bottom of the beaker of water. The more heat that a substance has, the more volume and energy the particles would have so it would move around in the beaker. Therefore, the hot water appeared to be less dense than the cold water. 3. The ice water is more dense than the room temperature water because when something is more dense, the substance will more likely sink instead of float. When the cold water drops were put in the room temperature water,
