    INSTRUMENT SOCIETY OF INDIA (ISOI) HYDERABAD CHAPTER

    OBJECTIVE OF THE SEMINAR While we call 1950s Atomic age, 70s Space age, 90s Electronic age, the beginning of the new century can be aptly called the age of Photonics. There is not a single area of Instrumentation in which Photonics have not made their presence: call it street light controlling to intricate surgeries. It is an interdisciplinary science and technology requiring skills in Optics, electronics and mechanical engineering. Many engineering colleges study the theory to some extent, but they are not exposed to design and applications of the photodiodes for various applications. One of the objectives of this seminar is to expose the various devices & their applications to the budding Electronics and Instrumentation Engineers so that they would be able to appreciate the industry requirements and contribute better to the design. In addition the use fiber optics for communication and related topics will also be covered in the invited talks. Today many Industries like security, textiles, paper, plastic and agro etc., are trying to use these devices for improving the quality of their products. However many are facing difficulties to select the right devices and use them to best advantage. It is hoped that this platform will provide an opportunity to such people in both R&D and Industry to interact and share each others problems and solutions. To achieve this objective we have invited experts from Instrumentation Industry, Department s of Defense, Space and Atomic Energy and Educational Institutions to give the invited talks. Ample opportunity will be provided for the students and faculty to interact with all these experts through Panel discussions

    etc., Opportunity will be given for selected papers for oral presentation. WORKSHOP: The Work Shop on Photodiodes and application is designed to meet the requirement of beginners in this field to equip them for better understanding of the intricacies of these devices and applications.
