CONTROLS & SWITCHES ON REAR PANEL

10. EARTHING TERMINAL: This terminal is provided for grounding associated equipment like record players. 11. PHONO INPUT: Connect the audio output cable of your record player fitted with phono MM cartridge to these sockets with twin RCA jacks at both ends. 12. TUNER INPUT: Connect the output of the Tuner to this socket using a cable with twin RCA jacks at both ends. 13. CD INPUT: Connect the output of your CD player to these sockets with twin RCA jacks at both ends. 14. DVD INPUT: Connect the output of the DVD player to these sockets with twin RCA jacks at both ends. 15. AUX INPUTS: Connect the output of PC, gaming console, TV etc, to this socket using a cable with twin RCA jacks. 16. PRE OUT: This is connected to the output of the built-in preamplifier. Connect this to an external power amplifier or a powered subwoofer for multi-room or for increasing system power 17. MAIN SPEAKERS: Connect the positive terminal of your right hand speakers to the terminal marked Right+ and negative terminal to Right -, and similarly connect the left hand speakers. Make sure that you have connected your speakers to the amplifier in the right polarity or else the bass (low frequency) notes will be very weak and the sound staging shall not be proper. Ensure that the impedance of each speaker is not less than 4 ohm. 18. MAINS INLET: This is an IEC type 3-pin power inlet with integral fuse holder. Plug the female end of the power cord supplied to this inlet and the other end to the mains utility socket. In the event that you want to replace the fuse, pull the fuse holder compartment, which opens like a drawer. The fuse holder compartment is located on the lower half of the inlet. Replace the fuse with the spare fuse inside and shut the drawer.

INSTALLATION
1. Place the SiA 208r in a horizontal position in the location where you wish to keep it. Make sure that it is situated well away from heat sources like stoves and heater and away from vases that contain water(to avoid spill overs). Also ensure that the amplifier is not placed on a rug or carpet, which might block the perforations necessary for proper cooling of the unit. Good ventilation, freedom from dust, and mechanical stability are the other desirable attributes to extend the useful life of the unit. Connect your amplifier to source and speakers as shown in the connection diagram (Fig. 3,on page 5) . While connecting source equipment like CD Player, tuner etc, be sure that you have connected the left channel output of the equipment to the left channel input of your amplifier and the right channel output of the equipment to the right channel input of the amplifier. After connecting the main speakers, cross check that the red wire connected to your speaker is connected to the (+) of your speaker terminal. Also make sure that the stripped ends of the speaker wire do not have any flying strands that might inadvertently touch the adjoining terminal or wire. Also make sure that you have correctly connected the left and right of each speaker set (A, B) to the corresponding connectors in the amplifier. Connect the AC cord last. Operations: Press the power switch. The display will light up. Select the source input you want to play by pressing the appropriate input select button The volume by default is 30. Raise it till you reach the desired listening level. Adjust Bass, treble , balance as required. Select loudness if required.

PROTECTION FEATURES
Your Amplifier has sophisticated built-in protection circuitry that triggers automatically in an eventuality. 1. THERMAL: When the display shows OVERHEAT it means the amplifier is running too hot and it needs to be cooled down. This has probably happened due to insufficient air circulation (ventilation) around the amplifier or playing at dangerously high volumes for an extended period of time. NOTE. When this happens the set actually mutes, with anOVERHEATindication on the display. The set will revert to normal functioning after the temperature drops to a safe value. However we suggest that you turn down the volume and inspect if proper ventilation has been ensured. 2. OVER LOAD: When this display appears it signifies your amplifier has been loaded with more than the recommended ratings. In this case too, the amplifier output is muted and the set reverts to normal functioning after 5 seconds. If the overload condition persists the amplifier will go into mute once again displaying OVERLOAD. This will continue until the cause of overload is removed. OVERLOAD generally occurs due to the following reasons. - Using speakers with less than recommended impedance ratings (Refer to Speaker Selection Chart in the Connection Diagram section). - Connecting more speakers than recommended. - The speaker cables have been inadvertently shorted. - Improper connection (Always follow connection diagram) 3. CLIPPING: This indicates that the amplifier is seriously distorting and you are trying to exceed the amplifier output power limits. Playing at this level for a long time can damage your speakers seriously and can lead the amplifier to thermal conditions. In case clipping appears on screen turn down the volume till the indication does not appear anymore. 4. FAULT: This display indicates that the internal circuitry has a malfunction which needs intervention of authorised service personnel. In such a case contact your nearest Sonodyne Service Center.
