PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently,
especially Lawrence Freemark, Mary Enright and Shirley Cameron.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek
God’s healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home. May your struggle
be consoled by Christ’s love“.

STATEMENT OF BISHOP MICHAEL MULHALL


CONCERNING THE CHARGES BROUGHT AGAINST
MONSIGNOR ROBERT BORNE
As Bishop of the Diocese of Pembroke, I wish to express my deep concern and that
of the diocese for the people who have brought forth allegations against Monsignor
Robert Borne. Our commitment is to work in an open and cooperative way with the
civil authorities as they endeavor to unfold the truth. Many persons are deeply
troubled by these events and we will do all we can to express a spirit of honesty
and compassion to all concerned. Our mission as a Church is to build a supportive
community. We wish to allow this mandate to inspire us as to how we can assist
all persons affected by these matters.

Father John McElligott who is kindly assisting us with his ti time

for ministry during my absence.
>PARISH CONSULTING COMMITTEES: A combined gathering of our Pastoral Council,
Property and Finance Committee and Liturgy Committee will be held Wednesday evening.
Our review of the current year and forward planning assures us of an opportunity to
continue to celebrate and renew our faith.
>ECCLESIA: The newsletter of our Diocese is available at the church doors. Please take a

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU, SISTER SHEILA

T he Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception have chosen Sister Sheila Whelan to
be a member of their Leadership Team. Her many talents will be a gift to her
community. After eight years as part of our Parish team we will miss her generous and
committed ministry. Sister Sheila will begin her new position in September. Let us
show our appreciation and support as she enjoys the summer months with us.

ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CEMETERY: We extend gratitude to Rose Bresee for again this
year being so kind in volunteering to care for the plants at our
cemetery. We all benefit from this labour of generosity.

BILL C-384, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, was introduced in the House of Commons on
May 13. It is to make legal Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide in Canada. Considering the present
makeup of the government, it will be a very close vote at the second reading which will likely occur
before Parliament’s recess on June 23. It is crucial that the vote for life be won at second reading.
Please contact our Member of Parliament now, while she can still speak against this bill. The address
