The document discusses calculations for branch reinforcements in accordance with ASME B31.3 1993. It provides calculations to check if branch connections have sufficient reinforcement.

The document is used to check branch connections in pipelines to ensure they have adequate reinforcement in accordance with the ASME B31.3 1993 code. It provides calculations and checks various parameters to determine if the connection meets code requirements.

Parameters like nominal pipe diameters, wall thicknesses, design pressure, material properties, branch angle, and corrosion allowances are used as inputs. Calculations are then performed to determine required and available reinforcement areas.

BRANCH REINFORCEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASME B31.3 1993

H
Branch rev 3

This spreadsheet checks branch connections in accordance with clause 304.3 of the code.
Where the connection had pad reinforcement, the calculation includes the pad and pad to header weld areas, but only
the areas within the width of the reinforcement zone. The calculation assumes that the pad and all welds fall within the
height of the rein
Where no pad is used, the pad thickness, pad width, and pad to header weld should be input as 0.
Complete all yellow shaded areas of spreadsheet .
The original of this spreadsheet is write protected and may not be overwritten. Therefore the new calculation button must
be used to create a new calculation. A new filename must be entered at the prompt.
