PEIC002 B Confederation Trail (A126) This biking and hiking path traverses the 174-mile province; following an abandoned railway bed that roughly parallels Hwy2. The western section extends from Tignish, near lands end at North Cape, to Kensington. Diversions along the way might include a visit to historic railway stations in Alberton and Kensington, the sighting of Canada geese while crossing the isthmus between Malpeque and Bedeque bays (Its a flyway!), and the smell of freshly turned earth in this fertile agricultural region. A lot more detail of the trail is provided on A126. PEIC003 B Bonshaw (A130) The scenic drive between Borden and Churchill on Hwy1 runs through Bonshaw, providing exceptional sightseeing by car. Car Life Museum is on Hwy1 and features a collection of restored antique cars dating from 1898, farm machinery from the early 1800s, farm tractors from early 1900s, and Elvis Presleys 1959 Cadillac. PEIC004 !B Brackley Beach (advertisement clipping) Brackley Beach Drive-In Theatre and Mini-Golf, features first-run movies in one of the most unique drive-in theatres in Canada. Located on Rte15 (Blue Heron Coastal Drive), George Boyle, 8 miles north of Charlottetown Airport. PEIC005 B Cap-Egmont (A130) Bottle Houses are on Hwy11 (Lady Slipper Drive). 3 fanciful buildings are made of more than 25,000 glass bottles of various sizes and shapes. Allow 30 minutes. Daily 9-8. PEIC006 B Cavendish (A130) 1) The north shore is noted for its scenic beaches, many of which are operated by Prince Edward Island National Park. 2) Avonlea Village of Anne of Green Gables [Gem site], is 1 mile west of Hwy 13 on Hwy6. The schoolhouse where Lucy Maud Montgomery taught in 1896 and the church she attended are preserved on the site. Costume interpreters, live theatre, musical shows, puppet shows, demonstrations, and a chocolate factory. Allow 2 HOURS. PEIC007 !B Charlottetown (A131) 1) The Charlottetown Festival is held at the Confederation Centre of the Arts from late June to early October. The festival features original Canadian musical productions. 2) Self-guiding tours with historic focus, including waterfront and Victorian park walks Brochures are $1 and available at The Charlottetown Visitor Information Centre, 178 Water Street. 3) Beaconsfield Historic House is at 2 Kent Street, a 25-room residence designed in 1877 for a wealthy shipbuilder. This is an arts and culture center recognized for musical and choral productions.
5) Founders Hall [Gem site], is at 8 Prince Street. Visitors don headsets as they move through the Time Travel Tunnel, where multimedia displays and interactive exhibits depict Canadas evolution. 6) Confederation Players Walking Tour departs from Founders Hall. The summer theater presents professional repertory productions in a 300-seat playhouse, which is a reproduction of the town hall. Play tickets are $15; senior citizens $12.50. At low tide, visitors can walk out to the longest natural rock reef in North America to view sea life and the harvesting of Irish moss. PEIC015 B Port Hill (A136) The Shipbuilding Museum and Historic Yeo House are off Hwy12 in Green Provincial Park.
