Application The THAP air-driven pumps units are used for mounting and dismounting OK-couplings, for large pressure joints like bearings, fly wheels, railway wheels, for hydraulic bolt tensioners and in many other similar applications. By using air driven pumps, a considerable amount of time can be saved compared to hand operated equipment. 2. Description The THAP generates the high oil pressure with an airdriven hydraulic pump. Please connect it only to supplies with dry and clean air. The pump units are delivered complete with a cabinet with quick connection couplings both for the incoming air and for the outgoing hydraulic hoses. Only the THAP 300K uses a threaded connection port for the high pressure pipe. Two hydraulic hoses (THAP 030K and THAP 150K) or one hydraulic high pressure pipe (THAP 300K) are included as standard. The units are equipped with air regulator, air pressure gauge and an hydraulic pressure gauge. For transportation the cabinet is provided with two sturdy carrying handles. The ten litre oil container which is positioned at the bottom of the cabinet is filled with SKF LHMF 300. Safety recommendations As high pressures constitute a potential safety risk, the following instructions must be considered: - The equipment should only be operated by trained personnel. - Always follow the operating instructions. - Check the pump and all accessories carefully before use. Never use even slightly damaged components. - Make sure all air has been removed from the hydraulic system, before pressurizing the pump. - Always use a pressure gauge. - Always prevent the workpiece/tool from being projected upon sudden release of pressure (e.g. by use of retaining nut). - Never use the equipment above the stated maximum hydraulic pressure. - Never exceed the stated maximum air pressure. - Never use the pump together with accessories which are rated below the maximum pressure of the pump. - Use protective goggles. - Never modify the unit. - Use original parts only. - Only use clean, recommended hydraulic oils (e.g. SKF LHMF 300, LHDF 900 or similar). - In case of any uncertainties as regards the use of the pump, contact SKF. 4 SKF THAP 030K/150K/300K 3. Operating instructions 1. Air inlet with quick connection nipple. 2. Oil outlet with 2 quick connection nipples 729832 A (THAP 030K and THAP 150K) or one female G 3/4" port (THAP 300K). 3. Filling plug with safety valve. 4. Air pressure gauge. 5. Oil pressure gauge. 6. Release valve. 7. Return hose. 8. Oil level glass . 9. Air valve, start/stop of pump. 10.Air pressure regulator. a) Make sure no air is trapped in the high pressure hose/pipe before connecting it to the application. b) Close the air valve (9) and connect the air line. The quick connection coupling for the air hose is included as standard. c) Check the oil level (8). Make sure that there is enough oil for the application. d) Make sure the release valve (6) is open and start the pump by opening the air valve (9). Let the pump run until no air bubbles can be seen in the return hose (7). e) Close the release valve (6). The pump will start injecting oil. f) The maximum hydraulic pressure can be adjusted by means of the air pressure regulator (10). Please further see the pressure conversion table printed on top of the unit. g) To release the pressure open the release valve (6) and stop the pump by closing the air valve (9). OBSERVE: Oil is always circulating through the return hose, even when the release valve is closed. 6 SKF THAP 030K/150K/300K 5. Maintenance - It is recommended to clean the oil suction filter regularly (which is situated directly below the oil fill plug). If correctly used, no other maintenance is required. - Make sure the oil is perfectly clean, as any dirt will cause severe wear and ultimately failure to the pump. - SKF recommends the use of SKF Mounting Fluid LHMF 300 and SKF Dismounting Fluid LHDF 900, for mounting and dismounting. 6.
