NUMBER 23 / SPRING TERM 2015 / WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH 2015
BREAK IN
I am sure that you will have heard by now about the
unfortunate break in and consequent theft of computer
equipment that happened on Saturday afternoon. Due
to the power of social media, the news spread very
quickly and the police have leads to follow. We had very
good coverage
on local radio
and in the
newspapers lets hope the
thieves can be
found soon.
I was saddened
and enraged by
the attitude of
the thieves who
felt that it was
acceptable to
cause damage
and loss to our
school.
We were
delighted that
the police responded to the school alarm going off so
quickly, with dogs being brought in to school and the
forensics team finding useful evidence.
We have reassured the children that the school
continues to be a safe place and such incidents occur
when the school is unoccupied. The children have
handled the situation very well - each offering their own
well-thought ideas of what happened and how they will
be caught!
ECLIPSE OF THE SUN
We had a wonderful morning last Friday enjoying the
eclipse - thank
you to the parents
who were able to
come to school a
little earlier and
support this
event.
EXTREME
READERS
Well done to: Evie
Y (Reception), Finlay I (Year 1), Bella D (Year 2), Elliot
C (Year 3), Sam L (Year 4), Sophie R (Year 5), Lucy B
(Year 6) and overall Angus P (Year 6). Each child has
received an Amazon voucher to go towards a book of
their choice.
SANDFEST
This year we will be hosting a music festival/summer fair on our school field. This is promising to be a fantastic
event with lots of activities planned and some exciting music to listen to.
It has come to our attention that on our planned date there is a large scouting event which many of our children
and families would be involved in. We have decided to move our event to SATURDAY 11th JULY to avoid this
clash. Apologies for the change of date, however, we hope we have given you enough notice to update your
diaries.
END OF TERM
We will be celebrating the music tuition in the school by listening to some performances and singing songs on the
morning of Thursday 2nd April in the school hall, if you would like to join us for the assembly from 9.10am - you
would be most welcome. Please see a separate letter from Mrs Tucker to reserve your seats.
The children will be enjoying an Easter Egg hunt within the school grounds after the assembly. This has been
organised by members of the PTA - thank you!
The Year 5 and Year 6 children will be leading our Easter Service in St Johns Church from 1.30pm on the last
Thursday. All parents are welcome to attend this celebration service.
We break up for the Easter Holidays at the normal time on Maundy Thursday, with the children returning to work
on TUESDAY 21st April. As this is the last newsletter for the term, we would like to wish you a happy holiday hope the sun shines!
